We were walking around Calle Ocho one block over from Versailles. I was hoping to hit up some cute stores, but the dress shop was closed. Luckily we ran across MC Dollar Store. Along with the usual dollar store stuff, they had some really cute dresses here. And best of all, they were built for shorties like me. Damn Americans make it so hard to shop at the mall. Everything is made for tall people! Hehehehe. The salesclerk didn’t speak much English, but luckily I knew enough to make small talk and say the key shopping phrases, like«How much is this?» «Can I try this on?» «Do you have it in a smaller/larger size?» Of course, he had to do the seller spiel. In Spanish he says, «You can buy this dress for $ 25 here, but at the mall, it would cost $ 80.» Actually the dress was $ 25.99. It was interesting that the clerk didn’t mention the 99 cents. Did I just get hustled? Hahahah. En serio, $ 25 is a bit steep for a «dollar store,» no? Also, they don’t accept credit cards here, so make sure you have enough cash on hand. I had to try the dresses on before I decided on what to buy. There are no changing rooms here, just the bathroom with the toilet that was broken. Which was fine by me, except for the fact that a friendly little roach greeted me when I was in there. Lol. Lucky for me it was already dead(not lucky for it, though. Hehehe). As for the service, the clerk was really cool, treated my friend and I like regulars. He liked me though, and kept asking me if I had a boyfriend. Haha I said I had no time for one. What a funny experience. My Spanish teachers would be proud. =P Psst. There is a parking lot in the back for those who hate parallel parking.
