Dr. McCalla is located in the Suniland strip mall not to far from Bank of America. I have been going to see Dr. McCalla for many years since I first started contacts when I was a younger. Dr. McCalla is very knowledgeable, professional, friendly, caring, and understanding. His work style is very similar to my dad when he sees patients. Very calm… almost slow but careful may be a better was to describe it to be very precise and accurate. It never feels hectic when you see him like how it does sometimes when you go to the dentist where there is just noise everywhere… i actually really like that. You can always feel assured that he does care about his patients and really takes his time to make sure you have the right prescription whether glasses or contacts. Ex: He won’t let you wear contacts your say, allergic to or if you have astigmatism he will take the time to find a lens that fits you well. As for price, he can be pricey but you get what you pay for, and its worth it. He really is a very good optometrist and I would recommend him to anyone looking for an eye doctor in south Miami.

AMAZING optometrist! I really cannot stress how thorough and professional he is. The location is easy to find, and they have a nice selection of designer glasses and sunglasses. The staff working the front desk are quick, helpful and really know what they’re talking about when it comes to the different lens available. Back to Dr. McCalla, I’ve been coming to him for almost six years and I can honestly say that he’s great. He gives his honest professional opnion on anything from Lasik to which brand of contact to buy. The eye exam begins by you taking about three different test– one to test your peripheral vision, a puff test(worst one in my opinion), and something else I can’t rememeber. Then you go see Dr McCalla. He never rushes you and if you’re interested in contact lenses, he really does try to find the best one for you both comfortwise and visionwise. The only thing I would point out is that this place can be a bit expensive, but worth it. He does not accept insurance but has an optometrist who comes in on the weekends who does.
