Just went to happy hour! Great place had 2 dozen oysters, conch and house wine. Service was great, oysters wonderful. House wine not great and pricy $ 100 with tip! Get their at 5:30, or you won’t get a seat at the bar.

Ok, so this is the BEST seafood place I’ve been to in Miami and one of the Top 10 I’ve been to in the US. Mignonette reminded me a lot of one of my all-time favorite seafood spots — Eventide in Portland, Maine, with Eventide taking the top spot over Mignonette. That being said, being mentioned alongside Eventide is amazing company to be in. My friend and I went there on a Sunday afternoon, but I think this would be a great spot to go to at night, so I’d recommend that instead. We had: Wine/Champagne– we didn’t order wine, but they had an excellent list of old world whites and reds. For being Miami, which isn’t a huge wine city in my opinion, they had a wonderful list. Much better than most of the high end restaurants in South Beach. Fresh Squeezed Lemonade– not too sweet or tart, just right and perfectly refreshing. Loved it. Warm Croissants with Lobster Butter & Mango Jam– was Simply AMAZING. This is a MUST order to start off with. Chilled South African Lobster Tail– they’re slightly smaller than a Maine lobster tail, but have an amazing flavor to them, much more flavor than a Maine tail. Highly recommend this. Chilled King Crab Legs– was very good, but the South African Lobster blew it out of the water, so I’d pass on these and order the lobster tail instead. Florida Grouper Filet– what can I say… I LOVE Florida Grouper… one of my favorite fish. It was excellently prepared, tender, flaky, flavorful. The skin didn’t stick to the flesh and had a nice seared taste to it. The accompanying mashed potatoes were amazing… and I’m not even a huge potato fan! Meyer Lemon Square with Berries– was pretty tart, but an excellent way to clean the palate after a wonderful seafood meal. Couldn’t have been more pleased. Overall, this is the BEST seafood place in Miami, hands down. It’s a little off the beaten path in an odd neighborhood and away from the hustle & bustle of South Beach, but it’s WELLWORTH the drive there. Don’t miss out on this place — it’s wonderful and everything is fresh & tasty!

Let me start off by saying everyone who works here was super friendly. Our waitress was friendly, but also great with good recommendations. She kept my wine glass full so that always nice plus! We ordered the lobster devil eggs plenty of lobster just think it lacked a little flavor. The oyster rockfeller great flavor and came out the perfect temperature. The crab cake was delicious had nice unique flavor to it. My husband ordered steak he wasn’t impressed, but I blame him it’s seafood restaurant. He said wasn’t horrible but not out of this world-dah! Lol Looking forward to going back and hope to make a happy hour there!

Woohoo! As good as it gets! – doesn’t quite explain it! Everything was perfection, and I don’t just say that because of my hot date ;) We happened to get set in the corner table, the best spot in the house if you asked us. From the street it looks like a small space but there’s an entire second seating area. Our server Nate was everything you expect in a server plus some. Along with the other gentlemen who assisted the knocked ‘great service’ out of the park. I’m typically the person you dare to eat an oyster and laugh at my pain as I almost never turn down a dare. I could have eaten the entire plate of Oyster Rockefeller myself! My husband even ate his veggies at Mignonette and liked it with the fried green tomatoes with crab salad and remoulade. My swordfish with a side of cajun succotash was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. I didn’t even know what succotash was yet realize till now there was crawfish in the dish! The Mr. was first of all impressed they had Redfish. apparently you don’t see the red drum or red fish on a menu very often. The redfish on bomba rice with rockfish and lobster broth, my fishermans perfect dinner. With everything being perfection from the moment we walked through the door we couldn’t skip dessert and a warm chewy slice of brownie pie with a scoop of ice cream was the bow on top! Perfection perfection. Seafood lovers, even a seafood likers must!

Unilocal contributors– thank you– you always steer us right! Day got away from us, no reservation, we literally walked in from our nearby hotel of course they were packed but they kindly accommodated us at the bar. We decided to order a variety of small plates instead of entrees. That was the way to do this place, because they have so many yummy dishes to offer! Their signature oysters a must, the scallops and crab cake– wow. The vege side dishes were the real surprise. We had 2, the succotash and the cabbage. Omg over the top amazing. Our only regret– we were too full to eat another bite and there was so much more to try. In other words– I don’t think they make a «bad» anything. Enjoy!

Amazing meal! Started with the crudo and then the oysters. Such freshness that we ordered another half dozen. For our entrée we shared the red fish. Wow!!! Just delish. My new favorite dish. A must item to order For dessert we ordered the bread pudding. Same as in chef Daniel’s other restaurant — Blue Collar and Panther coffee. A very delicious dinner!!! A+++++

Brought my hubby here for his birthday tonight. He has the red fish, crusted with andouille sausage on Cajun risotto and said it was ‘amazing’. My daughter and I split an order of white wine mussels and the lobster roll with potato ‘chips’. The chips were slices of potato with the most amazing spices. yum– another highlight. Two glasses of wine and a Meyer lemon square for dessert, total bill $ 109 Before tip. Great dinner

This place was well recommended… For me, I was disappointed… Thought they had a better kitchen and better service… If you decide to go, make a reservation and ask for the main dinning room… It will make a difference. We had the side room, awful! Service was a notch below average for what I was expecting! Food, the mushrooms are very good… Probably the best plate I ate… Octopus, average, branzino also average and missing flavor… For the price they charge at this place, the chef should be more creative in making a simple(simple does not mean easy) grilled fish… I can do better than that!!! All in all, I was expecting more… And it is over priced for what we got! Sorry…

I visited this place with a few of my co-workers while we were out in Miami. We were looking for a hip Miami Seafood haven and heard really great things about Mignonette. While the food was pretty good, it definitely did not have the super fresh taste and texture I would have expected. The oysters were a hit, but solid appetizers does not a five star restaurant make. I felt like they were trying a bit too hard to be «cool» with the décor and attitude, and I found the service to be overly invasive when we didn’t want it and not available when we needed it. Overall, I had an ok experience l, but not exceptional.

Had a nice lunch here with work associates. Conveniently located on the Biscayne corridor with lots of street parking. Ordered the lobster roll. It was nice and light with a crisp, buttery roll. There was not too much sauce/mayo with the lobster. Quite good! I want to come back to try the oysters — they have a decent selection of east and west coast oysters.

I came here for Happy Hour yesterday, and I will admit, the reason why I came was primarily to kill time and let traffic die down after running an errand in the area! However, I was pleasantly rewarded with great food AND less traffic, so, win-win. First of all, the interior is great! Even with the artisinal lightbulbs(*eyeroll*), it exudes charm without being overly hipsterish. Larry S. and I sat at the bar, and were welcomed warmly even though we were dressed«down», which is actually normal for me. HA! It was happy hour, so we availed ourselves of the special pricing on appetizers. We enjoyed the lobster deviled eggs, the steamed clams and popcorn conch. The deviled eggs were fabulous. I make deviled eggs on the reg and these blew mine away, which was pretty much what I was expecting! The clams were also delicious; steamed perfectly in a rich, umami broth. The little sidecar of drawn butter that came with it was superfluous! The conch was totally tender with a spicy batter and both cocktail and remoulade sauce on the side. I used the clam broth as a dip for the conch, it was that good! So, all in all, delicious food in a neat little setting, with pretty decent service to boot, but a few dings that keep it from being 5-star: 1. The food is great and high quality, but not a value. We were not intending to eat a full meal, but we still spent $ 35 with tax and tip on a snack. 2. The music was not too loud, but Beastie Boys in a bistro? Really? 3. TONS of waitstaff, bartenders, line cooks, bussers milling about in a small space felt very claustrophobic. I know, I know, if they didn’t have enough staff, then people would complain about the slow service. First world problems! 4. I am only mentioning this here since I had other«constructive criticism». the batter on the conch wasn’t sticking, so as we were digging in, we got either conch or batter. Not sure if it was an issue with fry oil temp, the conch temp or what, but it’s worth mentioning, especially since the conch itself was so perfect. I look forward to returning next time I am in the area!

I was so excited to try this spot after reading these rave reviews on Unilocal, and let me say. my fellow Unilocalers did NOT disappoint! I came here before a show at the Adrienne Arsht center, which was perfect because the service was fast and it is only about 5 minutes away. My favorite thing about this spot is how I felt like I was back in New England immediately, something I’ve yet to find in Miami. It was reminiscent of a local oyster shack in Maine, and their selection of oysters was very impressive… everything from the west coast to my favorite from Wellfleet, Massachusetts. I never would have found this place without the hype generated on Unilocal.it is a super small corner restaurant in between Midtown and Wynwood with only a discrete oyster sign marking it’s location. Since it is so small and quite popular you definitely should make a reservation. I recommend trying a sampler plate of the oysters so you can get a small taste of the different flavors from coast to coast, this is what we did and it was super fun! Also– an appetizer of the croissants with lobster jam and mango chutney is an absolute must! For a main dish, there is a good selection of fresh fish, but for some reason I decided to order something called Thanksgiving Dinner(which consisted of chicken, and a stuffing casserole). Super good, but next time, I’ll order seafood. Another thing I will say about Mignonette, is the service is excellent! Everyone from the moment we walked in was welcoming, attentive, and friendly. I will definitely be back for Sunday brunch. and if this sounds like something you’re into I suggest you make a reservation and give it a try!

If you are looking for a special place with a really casual atmosphere look no further. The menu, the décor, the whole feel of the place is effortless, casual glam. I know that sounds like a big contradiction, but somehow it works here. I can’t even tell you how long I was looking forward to going here. I’m a seafood lovers and one of Blue Collar’s biggest fan so naturally I was excited about Mignonette. I can happily say this place met all of my expectations. I spent a relaxing Sunday afternoon here. The weather was sunny and bright and the light poured in through the windows. It just felt like the beginning to a perfect Sunday. For lunch we had the crudo special which was delicious. My boo had the Manhattan clam chowder to start. It was probably the best Manhattan chowder I’ve had. It had the classic flavor but also a hint of bacon which paired perfectly with the clam and tomatoes. To eat I had a great salad. It was very simple with lettuce, crisp hericot verts(green beans), yummy deviled eggs and sweet Dungeness crab, topped with green goddess dressing. Can you say heaven? My hubby had a conch po boy and cleaned the plate. We washed down our meals with a few glasses of rosé and left feeling relaxed and satisfied. I can’t wait to do it all again, but next time I will be saving room for dessert and oysters.

Very very very small little place in downtown Miami, it’s a little gem in the middle of no where. Such a cute and private little romantic spot and to top it off, the food is amazing! One recommendation, make reservations! We got pretty lucky and thankfully got a spot at the bar. We enjoyed the oysters and got a little special attention from the chef preparing our oysters at the bar lol we definitely felt special and it made our night. I love this place and I don’t even like oysters jaja came here for my hubby who loves oysters and I actually had a few oysters to see if I outgrew my taste buds… I have to admit that I think I may start enjoying oysters now, well at least I’ll be coming back for some more.

Well, I was back in Miami, and had to hit up some of the places I just didn’t have time for during my last visit. So, I paid a little dinner visit to Mignonette. One of the top restaurants in Miami, this seafood spot has a great mix of upscale and casual dining all in one. They have a playful vibe here, but the focus on the food is no joke. We started with some wine, and ordered from the Prix Fixe menu that they were offering that night. I chose to start with the Boston Lettuce(pickled shallots, croutons, buttermilk dressing). All the ingredients were fresh, and the buttermilk dressing was on point, so, this was a pretty fool proof choice, but, I do love a salad. For my entrée, I ordered the Grouper(roasted cauliflower with smoked trout roe). I loved this. Grouper might not be an all-around crowd favorite, but I actually really like it. The texture is a bit more firm than most white fish, it’s not as delicate and flakey, but this was still very tender and flavorful. It paired really nicely with the nuttiness of the the roasted cauliflower flavor, which also balanced out the saltiness of the roe. For dessert, I went with their Butterscotch Heath Bar Bread Pudding(cayenne whipped cream). Now, if the name alone doesn’t sell you, maybe this will. Holy F*&k, it was amazing. The saying, «save the best for last» is super relevant here. Don’t get me wrong, everything else was definitely delicious and wonderfully prepared. But, I’m a huge sweet tooth and definitely fell in love with this. It’s served warm, and has a dense, yet light and custardy type of consistency, making it a perfect comfort food. If you’re just out and about, already ate dinner, just go in for this. You can thank me later.

Friends in town, dinner plans needed, Wynwood location = perfect excuse to get to Mignonette, and it didn’t hurt either that the Wynwood event we were headed to after dinner was only a 4 minute walk away! Mignonette is quite a small place, and I definitely give them credit for allowing me to alter my reservation from 4 people to 6 the day before and still keep the same time(we actually some how even ended up with 7 jammed into the table lol). Moral of the story, make a reservation for sure! The place was full when we left. AMBIANCE We dined in the side room, which seemed rather bare and nothing to write home about. I’m not sure if the main dining room is slightly better. Either way though, good company + good food means ambiance isn’t much of a concern. SERVICE Jason our server did an amazing job at taking orders, checking in on us, and putting up with our drinking antics(some us may have been day time drinking before dinner lol). The tuxedo shirts are pretty amusing as well! FOOD When you think Danny Serfer, you think Blue Collar style comfort food, but after eating at Mignonette it’s clear his talents extend further than heavy carbs. With a party of 7 I was able to try quite a lot of the menu, and I’ll be honest, some of the things I tried were only 4 star worthy in my mind… but luckily the things I ordered hit it out of the park and were more than deserving of my 5 stars! Will definitely be recommending my friends come here ASAP. We decided to start off with oysters to share. One dozen from each coast, which meant 3 of each type available. I truly love fresh oysters and I really enjoy these fresh oyster«taste tests». It always wows me how different oyster varieties can taste. I can’t remember which were my favorite, but the options included: Dabob, Fanny Bay, Skookum, Denman, Riptide, Beausoleil, Deep Cove. While most of the group went for one entrée I decided to span the menu and try an app, a salad, and throw in a veggie side for good measure. Honestly, this may have been the best plate of octopus I’ve ever had. Get the OCTOPUS people, it pairs perfectly with pigeon peas! The BOSTONLETTUCE salad also wowed me more than I was expecting, as the dressing is absolutely delicious. For a side I had to go with the SWISSCHARD which was just right with it’s lemon sauce. The one dish that didn’t wow me was the bite of the Monkfish. DRINKS Beer and wine only. Those in the group drinking beer seemed happy with the selection and all ordered the same thing lol. Those(like me) who went with wine found the list to be pretty comprehesive and priced from $ 38+. We ended up with a French(Rhone region) Grenache/Syrah blend that was quite nice! PARKING We ubered over to be responsible, but other friends that met us there did find parking a bit of a challenge. There is valet available however. My only regret is not saving room for dessert because butterscotch bread pudding would have probably made my night(ok not true, the octopus already made my night lol, but it would have been a nice ending). I can’t wait to come back here and try brunch as the menu looks like Danny Serfer has combined a bit of his two talents — comfort food and seafood!

Last weekend I finally got to try Mignonette, the new oyster bar in Edgewater that has practically been the talk of the town, or well, Twitter, for the past few months. The restaurant is owned by one of the master minds behind Blue Collar, another Miami favorite, and specializes in oysters, as the name implies. These are sourced from the East and West Coast and proudly featured in a massive marquee smack on top of the kitchen area. Movie Theatre Marquee sign featuring the oysters of the day I had the chance to try Mignonette with a group of friends, and after the meal was over our opinion about it was unanimous: the restaurant is great and worth coming back for, but you must know what to order, as some of the dishes are weaker than the rest. The main issue, I think, were the appetizers. Take the Clams Casino, for example. Despite the meatiness and freshness of the clams, the butter and bacon sauce they were served in totally overpowered the flavor of the fish. I’m not saying it wasn’t good. It was. But it tasted like… bacon. Not like clams. A similar thing happened with the Lobster Deviled Eggs. The mountain of mayo completely took over the dish and made it difficult to appreciate the lobster chunks on top. Again, not bad, only that it tasted mostly like a regular deviled egg. On the bright side, the conch popcorn was pretty good, definitely the best of the appetizers, and paired well with the aioli sauce it’s served with. Lobster Deviled Eggs: OK taste, but don’t see the point if you can barely taste the lobster. Popcorn Conch appetizer: delicious, especially when paired with the aioli sauce. Once we moved on to the star of the night, the oysters, things improved. We started out with a mix of both coasts, the Royal Miyagi, Effingham and Beausoleil oysters, which were served in a circular metal plate filled with ice, and with the requisite cocktail and mignonette sauces on the side(though personally, I like to have them on their own!). The plate comes with a little yellow paper slip with the names of the oysters in clockwise order, which comes in handy as it can sometimes be a little tricky to tell them apart. All of them were fresh, plump, and pretty reasonably priced at $ 3.00 a pop. Another favorite of the night were the grilled South African lobster tails, which were incredibly sweet, juicy and probably one of the best lobsters I’ve ever had. You could taste the grill in them, and surprisingly, they did not get dry in the cooking process. How do they do it?! I would come back for them over and over again, and for just $ 29, they were very well priced. The scallops were another great choice, perfectly tender, just the right size and served with a side of mushrooms that complemented the fish nicely. To conclude, when it comes to Mignonette, my recommendation is: stick to the oysters and their more simple dishes, and your experience will most likely be great. Their seafood, as well as their service, is fantastic and the ambiance is fun and friendly. Just like with many other restaurants in Miami, it’s all about choosing the right dishes.

Easy like Sunday morning… Actually, I have yet to go for weekend brunch. There’s this casual, yet hip and inviting feeling about Mignonette that I love. We usually go on Sundays for an early dinner. Did I mention we don’t mind trekking from Broward just for a quick dinner and then head right back? I don’t think I’ve ever had anything I didn’t love. Except, maybe the croissants. And the South African Lobster. I didn’t love those. I AMOBSESSEDWITHTHEM. I ADOREDTHOSE! I THINKABOUTTHOSEALLLLLLTHEDAMNTIME. Ahem…OK, back to being composed. In addition to «those» items I adore, we’ve also had the following(so far) Lobster deviled eggs Crab cake Chilled macaroni and pimento cheese Oxtail and rock shrimp gumbo Lobster roll Popcorn conch Popcorn shrimp French fried potato chips Corn on the cob Many, many, many different types of oysters Whole yellowtail special Heath bread pudding Pecan pie Tip: take note of the marquee specials before you order. Service has been great every single visit. Water and wine glasses always refilled. Speaking of wine, the menu is organized in five different formats for easy browsing: color, style, food, place, and price. Very cool. Even though it is a casual restaurant, I highly recommend making a reservation. They fill up quickly and there’s a reason for that. There’s just something special about Mignonette and as Chef Serfer says, it’s #fuckingfancy
