Last Monday, I spent over two hours walking in a park. I decided to make that a new habit so I get out of the house more, and I get more exercise. I must have built a big appetite because I was craving some good mood food! Well, to say the least, I left in a good mood. I had high hopes for the diner to have at least a trendy retro-style interior, but Moonlite looks like it is only on the way of achieving such an atmosphere. The restaurant looks like a confusing cross between a retro diner and a Chili’s, which happens to have a location across the street from this restaurant. The long way of the restaurant is retro-style, while the area near the entrance looks like a Chili’s bar. The two styles do not mesh well together; either house one style or the other. Customer service and courtesy, on the other hand, do not fall short of my expectations. My waiter who took my order, and the waitress who brought my food, were super nice and respectful of me as a customer. Moonlite Diner has plenty of food and drink options: burgers, sandwiches and paninis, salads, dinner entrées, and milkshakes, for example. I had the Santa Fe Burger with crinkle-cut fries and an Oreo milkshake. I have eaten burgers that are far better than this one, although the guacamole was the burger’s best part. The lettuce and tomato came runny — like they were just taken out of water. I would have preferred the bun was toasted or crispy; instead, it tasted like a potato roll straight from the bag. The fries reminded me of the ones served at an elementary school. They tasted like they were heated instead of cooked. In fact, they were tasteless. That must explain why the waitress noted the salt, pepper and ketchup on the table. I put ketchup on the fries, and it did make them better. Still, I wish the diner made their fries more intriguing to eat. When I reheated the burger and fries in the oven at home, the bun became a bit more toasty, but virtually the same burger as at the diner. The Oreo milkshake was the best thing about my visit — it tasted just like ice cream. Even nicer, instead of for the regular $ 5.99 price, I got it for $ 3 after showing the waiter my Unilocal check-in at the diner. To clarify why I even wanted to eat at Moonlite Diner out of the other restaurants in the same area, I wanted to eat somewhere different — give less popular restaurants a chance. The diner is just okay — nothing to be excited about. Still, if you really want to eat here, remember that the food does not distinguish itself from that of the other restaurants. As for me, you can find me next time at Denny’s or Chili’s — heck, I will even settle for Chuck E. Cheese’s pizza and boneless wings.

Visited here before our movie one Sunday afternoon. The place was pretty clean, seating and parking available. The food was ok, nothing out of this world but they do serve pretty big servings. Service was great even though it seemed our waitress was in a hurry and they were a little short handed but we didn’t mind. The booths were comfortable as well. The burger was well tasting and the pancakes were huge.

This place felt sticky to me. It just looked like it needed a DEEP cleaning all over. We had ordered a banana split, which was listed on the menu as being served with 3 flavors of ice cream, and toppings. When it arrived, it was all vanilla ice cream and we were informed by our waitress that«they don’t do three flavors anymore.» Wahh. I hate vanilla, so she was kind enough to bring me a plate of chocolate and strawberry that I just ate with scoops of the banana. It was relatively cheap for a banana split, and we were on and out in about 30 minutes. I don’t think we’ll be back for anything, but it wasn’t a totally tragic experience!

Avoid here. I will solely go based on the facts. I ordered food there on Saturday evening for carry out and went straight home to eat it. A few hours later I noticed my debit card was missing. Thinking it may have dropped in my car or house I waited until the next day to call and have them check. What ensued is nothing short of abysmal customer service. They asked me to call back in thirty minutes. I did. They asked for another hour since«we are so busy». I explained that checking for a card is not time-consuming. They took my name and number for the manager to call me back in an hour. Again, they explained how busy they were. To keep the saga short, it took multiple calls on my end after being promised help from the manager several times to get an answer. Finally, the manager after he told me he would call me in three minutes answered my repeated calls an hour later. The manager quickly says«we don’t have it» and hangs up on me. I strongly suggest that this establishment get their act together. No restaurant is so busy that it takes from 11am-3pm to get a short answer. In the time it took for them to give me an answer some thief was racking drinks up at Wood Tavern Wynwood. Please take note MD that customer service is not just the patrons in front of you, but those who have visited before. The food is bland and the organization/customer service needs an overhaul. If you can tolerate poor management and are able to pay in cash, eat all the heavy and canned diner food you can handle.

My boyfriend picked up breakfast from here this morning, first time trying their food. He ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel which came with homefries and I had a shortstack of strawberry pancakes. He liked his meal, my pancakes were good, its kinda hard to mess those up but the total came out to $ 16.00. I find that to be a complete rip off. Two pancakes with skimpy stawberries cut over it on top and a breakfast sandwhich with some home fries for $ 16.00? Do you people think you’re a high class diner in NY? Def. not ordering from here again. Plenty of other breakfast places which give more bang for your buck and are way cheaper.

The food here is delicious and reasonably priced. The philly cheese steak sandwich and ultimate grilled cheese are delicious! The best part are the sundaes! They’re always huge and tasty! I love coming here after the movies! The décor is very cute and the service is always good. I definitely recommend this place for casual dining!

The milkshakes are great! Service has gotten so much better and they are much more polite than when I was younger. The food is to greasy for my taste but nonetheless it’s good. You won’t ever find a problem finding parking since it is located in a mall area so that is a plus for me. a the decoration in the place is cute it makes it come together as a diner. All in all I give this restaurant a 3. Service gets a 4 though.

Tonight’s brinner was the BOMB! My omelette was cooked to perfection and my special dietary needs were honored. Steve, the most awesome manager, went above and beyond to make sure that my meal was delicious. And Crystal now ranks with Joy among our favorite waitresses here. She was friendly and attentive. As always, a quick an delicious meal!

5 stars for service, 2 stars for food It was 1:00am when we got there, the 1st impression you get is that is not a clean place, they were cleaning the floor with this mop that smelled so bad, we were greeted by a really nice waitress and she had us seat in a booth. My sister and I needed to use the restroom, as soon as we opened the door, the smell inside was so horrible that we both almost puked it was a really bad smell. Our waitress was so so NICE and welcoming, she took our order, and within 5 minutes we were getting our food. The food is ok, i wish that the food was as good as the service. The chocolate fudge milkshake was the only thing that was really good.

I really wish this place was better, since I love the theme, unfortunately, it is below average. Prices are just ok, service is slow, and food… I’ve had way better. I have been, 2x, hoping for better experience, but nothing.

Not sure how this place is still open… Ok service, terrible food! I’ve been here a few times, not consistently, maybe once or twice a year since they first opened and I’ve never left satisfied. I’m beginning to feel like a masochistic! I’ve come here for either a quick bite before or after a movie, for the convenience or because someone else in my party wants to try it out. Truth be told, save your money and go eat at the Denny’s or Chili’s across the street. Service is ok and with a smile. The orders come out right but the food is never anything to rave about. I’m always expecting better for some strange reason. I guess I’m hopeful that something has changed. But I’ve had it. This time around it was awful and not to mention their hygiene practices in the restroom. What was ordered this time: ~The lamb tasted rubbery and looked the part too. It was just like gnawing on rubber. Very unappealing and unappetizing. ~French Fries were disgusting! I know right?! How in the world can you mess up these babies and who can get French Fries wrong? The Diner can! Something just wasn’t right about them. They smelled funny and even had an odd taste. A familiar kind of taste… like regurgitation in my mouth! Very gross! I’m guessing it must be the same fryer oil they use for everything else and the same oil they’ve been using since they first opened. :/ Bathrooms are always filthy. I have never once seen these bathrooms clean or fully functional. I really don’t think management gives a $h!t about hygiene. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Scary thought! I definitely can say I have had enough! Enter at your own risk. You’ve been warned!

I am INLOOOOOVE! They have a huge variety of food in their menu, from turkey dinners to meatloaf to hash to paninis to French toast and the most unique pancakes I’ve ever seen such as Reese’s pancakes, and so much more! I also love their late night hours and 24 hour Saturday’s, I now have something more fun to dine at rather than the usual Denny’s and ihop after Saturday night shananegans lol. Staff is excellent and friendly in customer service! Prices are not too shabby for the amount of food you get as well! My bf and I shared an Oreo milkshake, which was just enough cause it came with SOMUCHEXTRA in the silver cup they use to make the shake in. I love that you can taste how they use actual milk so it doesn’t taste too sweet and fattening like other shakes that are generally used with milkshake base. Plus, THEREWASSOMUCHOREOATTHEBOTTOM! I opted for the French toast and eggs dinner while my bf had the hungry man + chocolate chips pancakes. SOMUCHFOODCAMEWITHTHESECOMBOS! They definitely set the standard bar high for French toast among diners cause their French toast was the best I’ve had! The middle part of the French toast was so incredibly fluffy! The chocolate chip pancakes were fantastic, also super fluffy and thank god the chips weren’t burned! Perfectly incorporated. Their sunny side up eggs are nicely crafted but I do not recommend their scrambled eggs because it ends up looking like a bunch of chopped pieces that’s difficult to even pick up with a fork. Their sausage links are full of savory flavor and bacon is just fantastic. Will be coming back to try their Reese’s milkshake and Reese’s pancakes. I also tried their monkey bites which they serve with ice cream. It was delightful but I would’ve preferred less caramel because it was too sweet for me. The bites itself were great in terms of texture, not burnt or hard, still soft and nice.

Let me start off by saying the five stars is for easy parking, a clean restroom, seated quickly, and waitress friendly and very attentive. I had to work on this fine Saturday but the besties and I had decided for a great fulfilling laughfest of a breakfast. When the three of us get together there’s always madness of our laughs. The waitress was very patient with us since we completely forgot we hadn’t even ordered but decided to chat away… I dont remember your name(waitress) but thx for that. We all ordered… and when our plates came it was a good time. I had the meat lovers breakfast which was eggs, bacon, ham, hashbrown and a biscuit. My girls had similar… well no complaints. my overeasy eggs were done perfectly(I love getting these style eggs to pop them but I never really eat the yolk. weird right) the bacon was crisp and not to greasy and my hashbrown’s were crunchy which I love. It was a great breakfast that’ll last me till an early dinner. My girls and I had a blast and ate well!!! Good times… especially when your red

Been comin’ to the Starlight Diner for years now, great place to sit down and have some comfort food after catching a movie at the nearby theater… I noticed the place has had a nice little refurb and changed its name to the Moonlite Diner. The update is really nice with fresh upholstery and great vintage americana tins all around.(I’m a car guy so I like all that shit)… So we’re peeping a whole gang of new items on the menu, got ma mouth all watering — I always like to try out the fish tacos whenever they’re available, wifey hit up the meatloaf. Buckle up bitchesss we going on a ride! When Estroberie brought ‘em out we damn near lost it. Them tacos were gorgeously laid out, paired up with crispy golden fries, your boy was smilin’ big… Wifey meatload was built like a brickhouse, sittin’ on some mash n’toast, and she was clearly into it, clearly. Baby girl was getting down with the mac and cheese and a nice chocolate shake. I didn’t catch our servers name, but she was fun and had a great story about«estrawberries»… I got 3 words for you — GOODTIMESBABY Until next time… Love, The Bull

Ok so I admit… my perception of diners is not always the best and although this diner is not so much the exception I can’t help but base my Unilocal stars on it’s food and service which in my opinion were great. Consider this your all american diner with your typical american diner-ish type of food. What makes this menu stand out however is the diversity of the menu. We are talking about Hawaiian Paninis, Mahi wraps with pineapple sauce, a salad with pineapple pieces… I mean for those who know me– pineapple for me is such a yum addition so the fact they’ve got the staple on so many items makes them ohhhh so desirable! I opted with the Hawaiian Panini which is grilled chicken, smoked ham, pineapple, swiss cheese and honey mustard. I struggled with the thought of ordering a «hand dipped» milkshake since it’s such a diner thing to do but I decided not to overindulge since I was planning on visiting a cupcakery nearby after my lunch. My server was Vanessa and she was excellent! Friendly, professional and efficient and my panini lived up to its expectation. So many times I find myself disappointed over the lacking condiments. I always feel they advertise a special ingredient and then dont put enough of it… not the case with my panini! It was perfect. Vanessa was perceptive enough to notice I was there during my lunch hour so I never had to ask for the check. She quickly came by and said«i bet you’re here for lunch so I went ahead and got your check ready unless there’s something else you’d like.» SHOCKER!!! Servers rarely do that… but I was so grateful. The lunch crowd during the week is very much like watching an episode of Swamp People… I’ve noticed this in both visits to Moonlite– nothing wrong with it since it fits into my whole diner experience and it’s very much what’s expected. The night and weekend crowds I’m sure are way different since this is near the Regal movie theaters there in Kendall. The diner in general is appropriately decorated and seems clean… not exceptionally clean since there’s a part of me that is still slightly grossed out but clean enough where I will return and try some other menu options! Few things to note: $ 2 Tuesdays for Milkshakes and a Unilocal check-in gets you one for $ 3 on any other day.
