Morningside Park

Played here on a rainy Friday night. I roll dried the courts and we go a light hit in. Its a nice park near the bay right in the heart of MiMo with lots of dining options after tennis. Have had some tennis classes here as well with

It’s also kind of entertaining to hear the local residents to battle on the basketball court next to the tennis center. Perhaps bring some earplugs. :)

Beautiful view, dog friendly and child friendly. Nice location to have a picnic or a romantic walk in the evening.

I’m a huge fan of Morningside park. It’s free and in a gated community, but they’ll just wave you in once they get a good look at you. It’s on the water so you can cook out, play basketball, tennis, baseball or have the kids play at the playground here! Always a good choice.

Remember how your high school yearbook had categories such as «most popular», «best hair», «more likely to succeed», etc. Well, if they had such categories for parks, Morningside Park would most certainly win the title of «most well-​rounded park». I don’t think I have seen any other park in Miami that packs as much as this park. Here are some of the things you will find:
–A tennis court (and tennis lessons)
–Kayak rentals (Saturdays, $ 20/​hr for a tandem or $ 12/​hr for a single)
–SUP rentals (Saturdays, $ 20/​hr)
–Sailing (still trying to inquire on pricing)
–Amazing bayfront views and benches
–Wildlife such as green anoles, ibises, and other natives
–Covered children’s playground, including a zipline
–Basketball courts
–Fishing
–Walking/​jogging/​biking paths
–Tables to play chess or checkers
–Baseball field
–Soccer field
–Volleyball field
–A public pool ($ 3 for adults, $ 1 for kids or seniors)
–Public grills
–Good security (I have been there 4 times and on 3 occasions, there was a police car parked in the corner monitoring all the goings-​ons)
The park is huge, and since there are so many things to do and see, you won’t get bored. It’s a good place to hold a picnic, or just sit on a bench and enjoy the breezes as you listen to the music and watch the bay. The employees are very helpful, especially the young, long-​haired brunet kid in the kayak rental who was so ethical that he advised me to come back on another occasion to kayak, as there were whitecaps in the water that day. He easily could have taken the kayak rental money and not said anything, but he knew that a good experience would mean future visits, and was honest enough to say so. He also said he brings out handicapped kids for watercraft outings, so he’s definitely a good kid.
I have come with my daughter to play, and have also come to walk around and kayak. I kayaked to the two islands (one of which is owned by the park and I believe is called Morningside Picnic Island, and the other one was Island #3, which was nearby).
If you do become bored with the park, you can always leave the park through the gate and stroll around the beautiful and historic Morningside district, which contains homes from the 1920s and 1930s in the Mediterranean Revival style, many of which are valued from half a million dollars to over a million dollars. It’s a very scenic neighborhood, and safe to walk at night, probably in part due to the guardhouse, which deters many people from entering. I thought this was a park for residents only, so you can imagine how many other people are dissuaded from entering the neighborhood. A few friends, who live nearby, were not even aware of its existence.
Morningside Park is a must-​see, and a park that appeals to all, young, old, athletic, and the not so athletic. After all, where else can you find so many activities, including sailboat rentals, in Miami?

What an amazing park, everything you need is here from soccer field, basketball court, volleyball and baseball field not to mention the breath taking water front view where you can rent a kayak all you need is a group of fun friends to bbq and talk all day long here and watch the sunset.
This is a must visit if you are in Miami.

Morningside Park is such a beautiful little getaway, right in the heart of the City of Miami. Now some of you may not have ever seen this park, quite simply because you do not ever drive by it. MSP is tucked away inside the lovely gated community of Morningside. Now even thought there is a gate for this neighborhood, the MSP is indeed a public park that can be enjoyed by all. There are basketball and tennis courts, baseball field and tons of kids always playing soccer in the open fields. There are also volleyball nets set up by the Bay and about ¾ mile paved trail that circles the park. This park is super shady and always has a steady Bay breeze to cool things down.
When I can’t get up the energy to run around on the sidewalks in my neighborhood, I pop over here for run, to at least be in partial shade!
I usually come here with my pup Raj C and he loves to sniff around and get friendly with the other pooches. Pretty much every other dog, we’ve met here at the park is friendly and social too. Like any other park I have seen some annoying owners who let their misbehaved dogs run around like a-​holes, but that is the exception and not the rule here. There is no lease-​free area, but we usually just run on-​lease around the outside of the park and then an inside loop to get the energy out.
There is a community pool and kayak and boat rentals out of this park. I have never rented a kayak from here, but I have seen the signs. This park does have an easy park and launch area to get your kayak or SUP into the water. There are four put in areas at the north eastern side lot, just north of the pool house. You can park your vehicle right there and carry just short way to launch into the Bay. There’s a string of spoil islands to paddle around that run from the Julia Tuttle to the JFK or 79^th ST Causeway. This is one of my go-​to kayaking spots in the city.
Overall a great park, tucked away in a great neighborhood. There’s tons of resoucres here so you can get outside and enjoy yourself, even in the Miami heat.

Morningside is a lovely park to go out for a run, jog, or even a walk. I visit almost every day for daily exercise. When finished, sit by the bay to enjoy gorgeous views of the intercoastal and Miami Beach.
Some of the amenities offered are: a pool, tennis and basketball courts, kayak rentals and launch, boat ramps, BBQ, soccer field, etc.
Definitely check it out when in the area. You’ll enjoy the park and what it has to offer.

Great escape from the city! Love coming here to sit on a bench overlooking the bay and just relaxing :)

Great park! I feel very safe going there to walk my dogs and when I go jogging. Very clean and well kept.

A hidden gem located off of the hustle and bustle known as Biscayne. Best part is that it is guarded by a guard house to keep the riff Raf out. It has all of the amenities that you would look for… and much more. I love how you can rent a kayak or even a sailboat for super cheap.

Morningside is a true neighborhood park — a hidden gem found behind the deceptive guardhouses which are there just for show. It’s a huge, waterfront park with lots to offer, including:
–Tons of charcoal BBQ grills in shady locales throughout the park. Rarely full
–Ample playground and kids’ areas
–Fields used for Soccer
–Tennis courts
–Basketball courts
–Volleyball court
–Kayak rentals (Saturdays only)
–Stand Up Paddleboard rentals (Saturdays only)
–Large running/​walking loop around the park
–Boat ramp
–Probably several things I am forgetting
I am withholding the elusive fifth star because it’s not the safest park. Someone had their car broken into in broad daylight on a Saturday when I was there once (she left her purse on her passenger’s seat, omg really? but still).
Also, the bathroom situation is seriously lacking. There is a building in the center of the south side which looks like it has bathrooms, but they are always locked. There are bathrooms by the kayak rental area, but they are disgusting. Like the water is a horrible brown/​yellow color and they are dirty. I heard there are bathrooms by the office on the north side of the park, but it is easier for me to go home than walk all the way over there.
Alcohol is not allowed, but they are not going to hassle you about it at all unless you’re being a total jerk.
Overall, this is a gorgeous park. The trees are large and old, offering ample shade. It’s well manicured and generally clean and well cared for. There is plenty of parking, but do lock your doors. It’s a lot to combat for a small staff and a park which is, at the end of the day, super close to a not-​so-​nice neighborhood.
Bottom Line: Park perfection for exercise and recreation alike with ample choices of things to do. Family fun in the sun!

I went here specifically for the playground. It was just ok, not great. There are no swings (what’s a playground without a swing?). My daughter was done with the play structures for the 2 year old crows in 10 Minutes. There was also quite a bit of trash lying around. The park itself is full of dogs, which is great if you are a dog lover, but not so great if you have a little toddler running around.

I have been coming to this park for years! I love this park, there are tons of activities available for the public! They are opening the Kayaking Center this weekend cant wait! The park is beautiful right by the bay so peaceful. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. Along the lines they are going to offer paddle boarding! Recommend this park to anyone looking to spend a wonderful day outdoors!

Don’t let the «gated community» fool you. The houses have bars on the windows for a reason. When we were there last week a fight broke out in the parking lot… the cops came. Sketchy characters abound.

It’s located in the gated community of Morningside, and makes for a perfect quiet afternoon with the kids. With shaded benches and picnic tables lining the gated and covered playground, it has all of the accommodations for you to be comfortable and stay awhile.

morningside park just acquired 4 sailboats (big enough for 4 people) and those will start renting within two weeks for 35 $ an hour. they will also start giving sailing classes for those interested. i am SO looking forward to this.
oh and by the way, they already fixed their launching dock so its ALL good now. gotto love this park.

I took the aqua aerobics class here on a Saturday morning at 11 and it was SO MUCH FUN. Um, and the class cost ONE DOLLAR. That’s, like, free.
The instructor Alexis has got the energy of Richard Simmons and lemme tell you… my calves are killing me!!!
So instead of laying on the couch and eating Cheetos (to quell my hangover) like I normally do on Saturdays, I basked in the sun and took in some fun aqua aerobics goodness with one of my besties.
I’m so glad I did, because now I don’t feel so bad about binge eating at Philippe earlier.

I love parks and the outdoors so I will always give them high ratings if they have the common park necessities. Morningside is a great park that due to the gatehouse to get into the area, I bet a lot people don’t know about.
Actually the whole area that is Morningside is really cool. One of those places that you automatically want to live at.
I did not see the kayak rentals that Joseluis talked about but I didn’t look that hard.

This park is great for tennis. Hardly ever any waiting and they have night tennis too. Open till 9pm on the weekdays, 8pm on the weekends.
