Paid 9 bucks plus tax for a foot long chicken salad sub… Then was told ten minutes later I’d have to pay another 3.50 cause I had ordered the foot long. No prices to support this but I paid. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m not lovin the late change in price after ten minutes of waiting for my sub to be built… Plus paying 13.50 for a sub at a place with a walk up window with no tables to enjoy my lunch, seems crazy for this area. Now that I’ve tasted it, I’m not sure where they got this chicken salad recipe from but it’s borderline sinful. Ate half only, I’ll be handing off the other half to the homeless guy staring at me as I eat in my car.

If I could have gave zero stars I would have. I was so excited to see the sign outside saying grand opening I u-turned on 7th Avenue to go back today. I excitedly parked my car and jumped out and went in. Only to be disappointed, there was one guy waiting at the window and once I came he told me to go ahead because he had already ordered. So I stood at the window and there were 3 people fixing sandwiches and no one acknowledged that I was even there. Normally I would walk out of a place because I am big on customer service, but being that I wanted the ‘Myers ’ experience from the 90’s I waited, but after 10 minutes of me waiting without a ‘we will be with you in a minute ’ I left disappointed and will not return..

So I was excited to see the famous«Myers» name on NW7th Ave in the North Miami area. Basically across the street(kind of) from the original location. For those of you that don’t know, Myers Subs from the 80’s &90’s(and maybe earlier, but I would have been too young to remember) was a tiny«hole in the wall» sub shop that made the best and absolutely the biggest subs in the county. I encountered people while growing up that lived all over South Florida and knew AND traveled to this tiny sub shop to eat there. Hence my excitement when I was driving by and saw the name«Myers» and immediately afterwards… the word«Subs» Unfortunately they are not the same family(no relation to original owners). However, their intent was to model the business in the same way. On to my review now… Location: There is no doubt that this is not in the best location. I grew up in this neighborhood so I naturally feel more comfortable in these parts then visitors, but I’ll be the first to admit it is not in a good location. There are security bars on the door and windows to give you a little better idea. So minus 1 star for location. Parking: You can only enter the shopping center from the south bound lanes of NW7th Ave. There is also very limited parking in the parking lot. Seating: There is no inside nor outside seating. This is a take-out only establishment at the moment. So minus another star for no place to sit and eat. Ordering: You must order through a small opening in a plexiglass window. If paying by credit card, the owner will swipe your card via the Square CC reading device attached to his cell phone(similar to how you pay on many food trucks). Food: This is of course not like the original(things rarely are), however after my first experience(turkey sub on white with some fixings), I have no complaints. I actually enjoyed the sub. They attempted to pile the meat high like the original Myers, but they seemed to fall just short. I seem to recall barely being able to open my mouth wide enough with the original subs. BUT, they still did pile it on, so I’m not complaining in that regard(just as in comparison to the original subs because it was their choice to open a business under the same name). I will return again to try other subs to continue my chase of capturing and rekindling some childhood memories of the original Myers Subs I grew up on… all while keeping an open mind that it is not(I have to be fair after all).
