Great place! 32 tables Not coin operated Table service at each table Juke box system rocks, loud, good bass response Control from your cell phone Good crowd Dining area Island bar, somewhat apart from the hall, though in the center of it all Good menu; cheese sticks, médium-large chicken tenders, pizza, wine list, yuca are all good Only thing I didn’t like was the indoor smoking, as I’m asthmatic and have a respiratory infection right now

Great place to hang out with friends and family and have a few drinks. My husband and our friend went a couple days ago and it was great! We had such good time, food was great. Will definitely be going back soon!

Huge billiards bar! The gentleman at the counter was extremely pleasant and made us feel welcomed right away. Gave us pricing information and showed us to the Bar. Bartender was very informative and warned drinks were«strong» to some. They were perfect for us! We requested a table off to the side as it was semi private. As we walked through crowd to our table the locals were friendly. Saying«hey» and stepping aside. Since we are from out of town(STL) it’s nice to find a pool hall and play feeling«comfortable» if u know what I mean. Seems to be a 20s-40s age range. Nice tables. Pay by the hour. 7.50−15 depending on table and night. Drinks are awesome & Reasonably priced. If in Miami check it out!

Awesome place to hang out and shoot pool. I don’t drink alcohol and there isn’t a bunch of drunk people stubbing around. The tables are really nice and I’ve played on a lot of pool tables around the country. I would recommend this place to everyone who likes to just relax on the weekend.

Eddy the bartender is on point, very funny guy and first guy that pays attention to the fact that it says I’m a veteran on my ID, overall cheap prices and cool environment.

Cheap, great place to play pool and have a few drinks with friends, if you can get past the smoke(which is not as bad as other places).

I live just minutes away from New Wave, so it’s the first choice when I want to grab a few drinks with friends without venturing downtown. It’s cheap, the servers are sweet, and the music is decent, depending on who put the last few dollars in the machine. I’ve never had a bad experience here. Whether you’re grabbing one with a coworker, or looking to forget the evening with a group of friends; if you’re on a budget or want to avoid the wrath that is Miami party goer’s, this is a safe choice. The pool tables are good quality, and you can tell they are taken care of. As far as food, they have the standard sandwiches, and basically anything deep fried. Not ideal if you’re on a diet, but let’s be honest, if you’re on a diet, you have no business chugging beers at a pool hall.

Best pool hall in the area. The smoke is tolorable unlike the other pool halls in the area. Great service from the start and did not have to wait since there were many pool tables.

New wave billiards is a great place to hang out with friends play some pool and even get a couple drinks. Eddie, the bartender always makes sure you are taken care of. He can make you just about anything even if it is not on the menu. Drink specials are awesome as well. The guys at the front, on whatever night you go, are always such a pleasure to talk to. Always very nice. The waitresses are always sweet and get everything to you need in decent timing, if it’s busy at the bar I know itll take a little longer, but not much. The security guard never really bothers you, unless given a legitimate reason, like if you are acting like an animal in the zoo. I play on an apa team a couple nights a week. And in all honesty I feel relieved when we play out of new wave. We always get a practice table for free while playing in a tournament, but if it is packed and no tables are available we are given the opportunity to either pay for the table or give it to the people waiting in line, which in all fairness we always give it to the people waiting. We are lucky enough that the owner accepts the leagues to play at his location, and he doesn’t charge his players for the tables. The tables are always taken care of. And the food is good, not all your typical bar food, the owner has a pretty wide selection on the menu. I would recommend this place to anyone. If you haven’t been here you are missing out. The smoke isn’t that bad in here either, it has been way worse at other locations I have played at before.

I thought on first impression that it was a good place. Unless you order from the bar, plan on waiting for awhile. The new staff at the front desk don’t speak English(unless your a half naked female) and have no respect for guest. Being on a pool league and having to be there has become torture. The front desk guys turned the lights off and gave our table away. Keeping in mind we had a combined food and drink tab over $ 400. The non English speaking guy then proceeds to collect our personal pool cues & cases well valued over $ 2,000 and proceeds to walk away with them. Obviously there’s no training in sales or customer service. We would of stayed if they gave away our tab as fast as they kicked us off the table and gave our table away. Apparently, our hard earned money wasn’t enough cause the first concern was the guys at the front desk to get a date verses making money for the business. I plan on pursuing amongst other APA pool players to not return here. Including myself and 9 other APA pool league captains to never return unless the professionalism, respect and real food returns. This is a cheap dive pool hall for college students with little to spend where employees just want to hit on college girls that are way out of there league. At the very least, have a staff on hand that speaks English when your dealing with the public and trying to get guest to spend money. I won’t ever recommend this place. McDonald’s actually has better food. Broke with no money or respect for your hard earned money, then your at home. 1 star just for the bartenders and that’s about it. Frozen food that’s fried, you’ll find better just next door at the thai restaurant. Pool tables need help too. I really think the owners just don’t care and would rather lavish in their very expensive cars and homes. I challenge them to prove me wrong. Being a business owner in the same business, this place is pretty sad. Take a 10 minute drive to Doral billiards and you’ll notice the difference before you even walk in the door.

If you like the smell of cigarettes you’re gonna love this place. Aside from not being able to breath they have a lot of pool tables and their prices are good.

This might not be the best billiards in Miami, but it sure is the one cheapest. Not much to describe, all about billiards here. Never tried the bar or its food. The bathrooms are small and rundown. The place is full of smoke. They have juke box system, but its going to be a lot of latin music(location) and rap before your song comes up. If you can get passed the smoke this will also become your go to place to play billiards.

This is my first Unilocal or whatever you call it… where to start. New Wave billiards used to be my home away from home. I was there every night and often in the afternoon as well. I did this for over 15 years. My tab would be put under the name«familia» because my family and new wave were like family. Ive seen many changes over the years. Some good, Some bad. I was there when the Hialeah one was opened and closed. I was there when Nando passed away(RIP). I’ve seen the brothers grow up and move on. I have not been there in a few years because of an injury I had with my back that made shooting pool almost impossible. I recently decided to try to start shooting pool again. Today I showed up and the new owner(Alfredo — the one that opened and closed the new wave in Hialeah) was there. I always had a good rapport with him as I first met him when they were setting up the second new wave. Today he had just aggressively kicked someone out threatening to have them arrested for just being there. Afterward I turned to him and said hello and asked how he has been as I have not seen him in years. He gave me severe attitude and accused me of talking crap about him. He then walked away. I approached him and stated that maybe he had me confused with someone and then explained who I was to which he stated«I know exactly who you are, you posted a review on Unilocal saying that I was an a$$hole.» I explained that I never said such a thing, and that I didn’t know what Unilocal was(now I know and that’s why I’m writing this). Did I ever call him an a$$hole? Heck no. Would I call him an a$$hole for the way he treated me and acted today? Heck yes. He acted like a grade A a$$hole. I’ve have nothing but love for the entire family. I use to have birthday parties there, heck they would even hold the cake in the freezer till we were ready to cut it and celebrated alongside of us. Man how this place has gone downhill. It is now more of a bar than a pool hall. The tables are unbalanced, the felt is slow as sin, the nipples on the pocket are flat, and there are dead spots on most of the table’s rails. The new«pretty» lighting system they have over each table is horrible as it throws very little light and causes a ball to have 4 shadows. The wait staff doesn’t speak English. The smoke eaters don’t work as well as the used to. It went from being the best pool hall in Miami to being a large dive bar with several pool tables. They truly lost the family atmosphere that Nando(RIP) and the brothers(Chris, Simon, Erick, Nando Jr) worked so hard to create. Customer service has officially died at new wave. This is the last time I will be going there. I would never post a bad review of a place that I called my home, but since I was falsely accused of it, I might as well post a honest review of what he has made of the place. Now I see why all the regulars and real pool players don’t shoot there anymore. It’s a shame what he has done to the place. Alfredo, I hope you read this. You were wrong today, I never spoke ill about you or your establishment. But at least now you have a right to say I did after this review. You owe me an apology for falsely accusing me of talking trash, but I guess after this we can call it even.

New Wave is plan B when A fails. I love playing pool and have been at it for years. Just like this place, it’s been operating since 1989. Great place to hang out with friends and shoot pool. The bar is huge and the food is not bad at all. They have plenty of tables which is great. There is always a table available even when it’s packed. The down points on this pool hall is the smoke. Their ventilation system is weak and it does cloud up at times. I don’t smoke and don’t mind smokers but when it becomes heavy, I do have an issue. The majority of the tables are old but well kept. Rarely have I landed a beat up unleveled table. Their prices are not the best neither is the happy hour. This is the main reason New Wave is not my first choice.

I always have an enjoyable time when I come to New Wave, it’s probably one of my favorite dives for a game of pool. When I’m close to campus(FIU) I definitely prefer to go here rather than Sharp Shooters. Sadly, S.S. is extremely closer to home in comparison. Past reviews I’ve read here say that you’ll come out smelling like an ashtray but I honestly disagree. It’s no perfume shoppe but I don’t think it differs from any regular bar and its almost a daisy field compared to Sharp Shooters. Things I really enjoy about this place: — dude at the front desk is ALWAYS very nice, polite & helpful. — it’s BIG. lots of space. almost guaranteed to get a table anytime. — oooodles of Billiards tables and even 6 or so European Billiards. — GOOD bar food. Pretty extensive menu as well. — you practically never have to leave your table. Waitresses will tend to you and most always come right away. — FULLBAR ! — there’s always specials. whether its on drinks, pool or whatever! If you check into FB, 5% discount. Show ANY South Florida College ID, 10% discount. Mon — Weds its half priced pool. Ends up being practically $ 6 an hour for pool. That’s ridiculously cheap! Minor dislikes: — bathroom is small, tiny and always leaky. — sometimes it takes a while for the waitress to get back to you. — charges to play by the hour, rather than per person. Which can be a great thing if you’re with friends, but I see how it can be annoying if you’re trying to be serious & play by yourself. — random eclectic music.(Personal issue lol) country to rachet hood to merengue. distracts my playing! hah. I give this place a 3.75 stars, but imma just round it up to 4. :) Overall, definitely recommend someone in the South Miami area to play Billiards here!

I love billiards joints. Let me tell you why I particularly like this one. You come in, you immediately get a table regardless of what night it is. The servers come right to you and make sure you get food/drink that you want. You don’t even have to approach the bar. They are also extremely friendly. I have never been disappointed. Great music and selection of television playing while you are hanging out. Reasonable prices. Nice materials. Everything is in good shape. They take care of their things and don’t give you beat up sticks or anything. The crowd. Always a nice group of people there; very chill.

My friends and I are here weekly for pool league matches. There is plenty of seating, a lot of drink options, and pretty good bar food. The layer of smoke that is mentioned in other reviews is barely noticeable in my opinion, especially compared to other pool halls we go to. If you have ever been to Sharp Shooters, this place will seem virtually smoke-free in comparison! Anyway, we always have a good time and the employees are all very nice and courteous. They even have tables for 3 cushion billiards!

A South Miami-FIU favorite!!! New Wave Billiards was opened about 20 years ago when I was just a punk in middle school. One remembers the hustle and bustle every Friday and Saturday as the over 30 pool tables were packed to the gills. New renovations that were made recently keep this old favorite up with the times. Full bar, good bar food, and a few huge plasma T.V.‘s keep this place as one of my favs. This place gets 5 stars in my book because you get the three b’s!!! Bueno, bonito, and barrato! Always a great time especially when you get the bill.
