I have taken both of my cats here. At the time I found my 1^st cat i was broke. I could barely take care of myself but this stray cat followed me to my car meowing endliessly for food. I had to take her in and part of that included getting her neutered. If it was not for planned pethood i would not have been able to afford to keep my cat and she would probably be another hungry stray in the street run over by a car. The same is true with my second cat, my financial situation was better but i think of the alternative and how another cat from the same littler was found a day litter run over by a car.
Yes this place is not the cleanest but My cats were no hacked away. The people there really did seem to care and gave me plenty of advice and were very patient with me. I was a new cat owner the first time i went and had no idea how to care for a tiny baby cat. I am so thankful that this place was there. No it’s not that clean but they don’t skimp on the service that they provide. The cats get neutered in a proper way and are healthy after. The stitches are placed well and there is nothing shotty about the actual procedure.
As for the English speaking thing, this is Miami there are tons of people who don’t speak English. I have been to the Dr’s office and my dr did not speak English. That does not mean she and her non-​English speaking staff could not care for me based on technique alone. You don’t need to speak English to cut and to sew stitches.
This place is an outlet and a resource for low income earners to be able to care for strays and their pets. The price of pet care is a big deterrent and this is one of the reasons why there are so many abandoned animals out there. if there ownders new they has low cost options with out the hassle that the humane society has, i’m sure there would be a lot less stray animals.

This clinic should be shut down. It is absolutely, incredibly filthy and it stinks so badly in there that you can barely breath. The lady who runs the place is disturbed. She seems nice enough on the phone, but when you get there you are expected not to ask any questions at all about anything. If you do, the vet, who barely speaks English, will not treat your animal, even if you’ve been preparing for surgery the entire day before with no food and water for hours. It’s just a clear indication that the state of FL doesn’t do anything to regulate animal clinics because there’s no excuse for a place like that to be in operation.

Im sorry, but this has got to be the scarriest place ever. I really disagree wiht the other people who have reviewed this place. I took my dog there to get fixed and as soon as I walked in there. I took one look and one wiff and walked right out. Its a scarry place. If they cant take the time to wip the dirt off the tv in the waiting area what makes me think they are going to take the time to do a good job with my pup. I really think its great that they are a non-​profit, but you cant run a non-​profit like this.
It’s not clean. When I went it smelled so bad I could hardly breath.
There was chicken in cages out by the signin area and the lady behind the counter was very nice over the phone and Im sure she’s a great lady, but I think it was too much for her. She needs to let someone else run the place. It’s pretty run down and I think its just she’s older and cant get around to it all. She appears to run it all herself and it just seems like too much.
I am sorry but I really do not recommend this place.
I think its a wonderful idea and a great cause, but the place is just run down, scary dirty and it just doesnt seem like a safe place to get your dog or cat fixed.
I know its very cheap, but it’s not worth it.
I left there very dissapointed.

I’ve been to Planned Pethood twice. Once, for a little kitty I rescued near my parents house. I wanted to find a home for her but also have her spayed so that she wouldn’t procreate more kitties in the future. And the second time was for my dog, Sula. Planned Pethood was great about making an appointment, they usually have appointments for the same week you contact them. They’re a non-​profit organization focused on keeping baby kitties and puppies off the streets.
They are very simple, you get there, you drop your dog off, you pick them up before 2:30 pm [I think that’s the latest]. Once you pick up your dog/​cat, they give you a set of instructions to take home. There is no anti-​biotics given [so that was a bit of a problem for me]. The first time I went, there were no complications with the kitty, she was fine, recovered fast. The second time though, when I took my dog, she got an infection on her wound. I had to take her to the vet and get her some antibiotics. However, this still came out to cheaper than what my vet wanted to charge me for spaying which was $ 300 – 400. At Planned Pethood they charged me $ 47 [my dog weighs 42 lbs and they charge by lb. – however, they were raising their prices after Feb. 2011] and the antibiotics came out to $ 12. So, all in all, I saved a ton of money.
Now when you get to this place, don’t be scared off by the foul odors and messy-​ness… the back where they actually operate in is much cleaner and doesn’t smell like the office area does.
I highly recommend this place, they cut [pun intended!] to the point and are the most affordable place I know in Miami and Broward County.

Cynthia the boxer’s New Year’s resolution after a hefty 10-​puppy litter: get spayed, it was fun but never again!
We found out about PP from the rescue group with which we volunteer. They have an outstanding reputation and charge according to the dog’s weight ($ 1 per pound) for adults and even less for puppies.
Located in a nondescript strip mall in North Miami, in at 7:30 and out at 1:30 with a basic sheet of instructions and very groggy pet. Don’t expect the usual «how are we today» treatment you generally get at your family vet’s office; it’s down to business, «we’ll call if anything comes up, otherwise see you at 1:30», which was absolutely fine with us — it actually helped calm the natural worrying that accompanies any surgical procedure for anyone we truly love.
The first day we were worried, Cynthia basically slept for about 12 hours and didn’t even want to eat a piece of chicken. She was also rather offended that we would just leave her, then let her wake up to nausea and pain… but a couple of days later she was back to her usual wolfing down food and wagging her behind. Now, after 10 days she’s back to her old tricks, jumping and playing with Mapuche the sloth puppy (who has become atypically active lately, go figure).
PP comes highly recommended and is well worth the drive even if you live «down south».
