This was the first experience with Pro Performance Automotive and there is no question — we will return whenever our cars need attention. Michael Schmidt, the owner, is a joy to deal with. No unnecessary techno-​babble nor incomplete information or estimation. What he says is what happens. What he said the cost was going to be is what the cost was. Very unusual for Miami. Where most mechanics don’t know the back from the front of the car Schmidt is a clear and comforting exception in Miami’s auto maintenance world.

I was having problems shifting my Maserati Coupe Cambiocorsa transmission into reverse and after researching the issue, determined that I needed a new shifter fork assembly. Maserati does not sell this part individually, instead requiring the replacement of the entire unit at a cost of almost $ 2,000. I found an aftermarket part manufactured by Hill Engineering for only $ 115 and then asked Mr. Schmidt if he could/​would install it for me. He agreed to do so and I then ordered the part. The part arrived on Wednesday afternoon and I took it to Pro Performance Thursday morning.
Mr. Schmidt worked diligently on the replacement/​installation for three hours, including having to make some minor modifications to both the part and the overall shift handle assembly in the vehicle. At the end of the morning, the defective part was removed, the new part was installed, and the problem has been resolved. The total cost of this repair (in addition to the separately purchased part) was only $ 200 in labor charges. Not only was the repair effectuated, but Mr. Schmidt left my car in immaculate condition. I would not hesitate to return for routine service or required repairs, and I highly recommend Pro Performance to anyone who is in need of automotive services.

This is one dishonest and sneaky mechanic, Beware!
If you care about your car, please do yourself a favor, do not bring it here. I had the worst experience here with the mechanic demanding money upfront, kept my car for three months and did little to no work. I had to bring my car to another mechanic.

Mike is the man. I’ve brought my last two German cars here, a BMW 525i and later a Mercedes c230 sport and Mike always takes care of them. Not really the cheapest I believe but definitely an honest mechanic/​business owner that actually knows his craft, which is hard to find here in Miami.

I was looking for a local mechanic near me. I have a 7 series and it is always a pain to get an honest mechanic that knows what they are doing. Some german car mechanics are really diagnostics mechanics. That means that they will start telling you everything you need without really knowing 100%.
Mike knows his craft. He greets you with a handshake and asks you questions about the car, like a Dr. Trying to understand what is wrong. He then walks you through his shop, which is loaded with priceless German automobiles. His shop is spiffy clean, which something you learn in Germany. Independent shops in Miami show no pride of craftsmanship and cleanliness.
He returned my car with plastic on the driver seat, the steering wheel and the paper mat and vacuumed.
I am very picky who works on my car, I have found the right place.
The rates are a third of everyone else’s.

Michael is amazing and the most honest mechanic I have ever worked with.
I went to him as a second opinion and he gave me the true story on what was wrong with my car.
He actually showed me what was wrong with my car which was a first for me.
Not only is he the best I’ve ever come across he is the most inexpensive.

Definitely the place to go when you have a European car. Mike has been taking care of our cars for 10 years now. He is a straight talking German who knows his stuff.
His work is great — and no, not cheap. It is however, fair. I have made the mistake of taking the Mercedes to the local guy who was taking care of our American car, and he ended up screwing up the transmission completely. Thats what we got for cheating on Mike. Luckily he isn’t a jealous kind of guy and fixed the problem for us!
Honestly, he is the best.

Michael Schmidt is the reason why I have owned Mercedes and BMW for the past 15 years. My cars are paid for, which means the have some years and miles on them but I wouldn’t even dream of owning a German car unless I had a great and trustworthy mechanic, this guy keeps my cars on the road. When they need work, he fixes them, no ripoff just good old classic service and honesty.
If you own German import or a high performance car, this is the place to do your maintenance and repairs.
