This place has so many great memories for me. It is the standard by which I now gauge all other coffee cafes. I am truly sadden that it has closed.

Great Cuban Coffee. If you are in downtown Miami and enjoy a good, strong cup of coffee. This is your place.

DISCLAIMER: This review is based only on their coffee and their service. I’ve never eaten here(and I’m seeing some negative comments about the food down below). I’ll edit this review if I ever eat there. But for now… I’ve worked downtown for many years and I gotta say — this is the best coffee you’re going to find in this area! I started off by trying a «malcriado,» a small cup of espresso with condensed milk. Of course, it was delicious! But I figured it was because of the sweet condensed milk. So, the next time, I tried a regular latte… STILLJUSTASSCRUMPTIOUS. I couldn’t believe it. So I then moved on to the«chocolatte,» which is made with ONLY coffee, milk, and dark chocolate syrup(no added sugar on top of that). It was STILLAWESOME. I couldn’t figure out what it was! So, the next time I went, I asked them to put in only 2 pumps of chocolate instead of 4; perhaps taking away some sweetness would change the taste. I think you know what I’m gonna say by now… it STILLROCKED. My boss finally asked the owner what this magical, delicious coffee had in it that made it so amazing. Turns out, they grow their own special crops in a different country(Ecuador, I think?), and it’s their coffee beans themselves that makes the coffee so great. PS: They sell their coffee for you to take home and make yourself. Been meaning to pick some up so I can try it at home and see if it comes out just as good! Something else I love about them: They have almond milk! I try to stay away from dairy and soy as much as possible, so having this option is definitely nice. Not even Starbucks has caught on to the health benefits of almond milk yet. As for the service, these people are super nice. I’ve never had a bad experience there, and they’re always pleasant. Pretty smiles and a freakin’ fantastic cup of coffee: I’M THERE.

This is a very clean, well decorated Cuban café/wine bar. I wasn’t very impressed by my pan con lechon, but my café con leche was on point. This is a great place if you’re visiting Downtown Miami and want to get good Cuban food in a tourist friendly atmosphere, but I would also recommend checking out some of the smaller Cuban cafes around Govt Center, they’re about 25−40% cheaper, and the food might be a little better, but they’ll probably only speak Spanish.

I wanted to try out this place after reading an article by the Miami Times which named it one of the 10 Best Coffeehouses in Miami. The article was pretty spot on. The thing to come here for is a Cuban coffee and pastilito in a nice open-air setting. They also have sandwiches and salads which are decent. But don’t make my mistake, if you’re looking for a good authentic Cuban sandwich go elsewhere. The key to a good Cuban sandwich is the bread, it has to be crispy on the outside. Roho’s bread for my Cuban sandwich was tough and chewy. I’ll be back for a cafecito but not the cuban sandwich.

We wanted to eat lunch after visiting Vizcaya and this place came up on Unilocal. The food is AMAZING and so filling for the price. We all got half sandwiches with half salads(or soups) and fries. The half sandwich is pretty much a full sandwich and the fries are unique. If you don’t want any fries you can also ask for more salad. Get the Cuban hamburger which is not on the menu. The burger is a mix of beef and chorizo. Probably the most tender and juicy burger I’ve ever had and the taste of the chorizo is strong without being overwhelming. Using the free coffee coupon on Unilocal we each got one shot of the cortadito(Cuban espresso). So perfect. They’re known for the drink which they make with evaporated milk. We finished the meal off with the cheesecake flan. Also a must. The service too was friendly and helpful. At one point we had three servers around us taking care of different things. Our server was a bit flaky. She messed up our salad order and forgot about the hamburger at first but was otherwise more than accommodating. Was even willing to fill up my water bottle before we left :)

I wasn’t as impressed as I hoped I would be. This place is super convenient for me, not too far from my apartment. It’s really cute on the inside, and the lady who took my order was nice. The other people working there seemed off though, arguing back and forth about orders and such. They may have been joking but it was off putting. My café con leche was good– but expensive! I think it was about $ 3 something! That’s a lot in a town where I can get one for less. The pastries I got were also just fair. I guess towards the end of the day they become 2 for 1 which was nice. The guava pastry was pretty good but not that different from Publix’s. I probably won’t be back anytime soon.

I work around the corner from here and I am a fan of Roho’s! The staff was very friendly, the service great, and they always have some sort of specials going on. I try to stay away from here because everything is that good and I am always on a diet, but a cafesito and pastelito here and there can’t hurt. They have a nice area outside that seems colorful and full of life! The place is very nicely decorated. Tip: Pick up a to go menu and look it over prior to ordering for coupons and great deals!

Color me impressed! Roho has a much-needed vibe for this side of town. My favorite part of dining here: — The patio area out front. A fantastic place to chill and sip on a coffee when the weather is nice. — The coffee. I think Cuban coffee has an unfair advantage by making you hallucinate rainbows and Unicorns, but whatever, the coffee is 5 stars. The not-so-great: — The Elena Ruth! They used guava(instead of strawberry jam) and one tiny slice of turkey that got lost in the sandwich. Not sure if this was a «play» on the Elena Ruth, but if so, it wasn’t made clear. Part of my order was forgotten, and it was a little slow to get our food, but I was too busy enjoying my time in the patio area with my coffee and laptop to notice much. A refuge in an otherwise not-so-beautiful side of town.

Consider this 3.5 stars. Not the guy who drinks eight cups a day but I will have one or two because I just like the taste of coffee. Although this place is a little over done for a coffee shop(not a quiet place), the coffee was on point. Your data: Food: I like my coffee like I like my women — brown, small and hot as hell. They also have your empanada and pastelito spread and these were the best I’ve had in Miami(not normally a fan). Try the cheese and guava empanada and a cortadito with no sugar. You’ll be happier than a hooker at a truck stop(have I used that one?) They also have tea for you meditation types Atmosphere: Huge coffee shop. Outdoor and indoor seating and salsa mix that bumps like(.)(.) during track practice. There was an urban street dweller drinking modelo outside and getting down to Marc Anthony’s «contra la corriente» like I’ve never seen. Did I mention I got here at 730am… Location: On flagler close to all the action. I got here early so parking wasn’t an issue for me but by the time I left cars were lining up just to illegally park. I’m definitely coming back here, if I’m still digging it then ill upgrade to 4 stars.

I’m not claiming to be an expert on cuban coffee, but I love this place. I live down the street from it and drive past it almost every day. I’m so glad I decided to check it out. It is clean and has an upscale interior. A great change from most of the dives in the neighborhood. The coffee is very smooth and sweet without being to sweet. The guava pasty was pretty good, I’d never had one before so I have nothing to compare it to. Everything here is priced really well too, most things seem cheaper than the starbucks down the street. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for coffee in downtown. Added bonus for the interesting/funny conversation I had with the crazy lady at the table next to me the last time I went there about the need for air conditioning on public buses in the summer.

Wow! What a great place. The staff is extremely personable and on top of their game. The atmosphere is really trendy and fun. As a former resident of Argentina, I can definitely say that their empanadas and café con leche are on point! Oh, and the coffee is also great! I’m really glad we finally have a place this nice downtown with affordable prices and great deals from their half priced wine tasting bar happy hour and unlimited champagne brunch special!

What can I possibly say about Roho Cuban Coffee Company besides the fact that it is absolutely amazing! Situated smack dab in the middle of downtown Miami on the corner of Miami and Flagler, this place is just what the neighborhood needed! I am totally addicted! The staff is amazing! I know I am going to botch the spelling of her name but Julady is so upbeat and fun! Love her personality! And the owner Troy is so personable and really takes pride in his business! Truly an awesome place! I recently spent a few days in Havana, and like a previous review stated, you get the feel of a swank Cuban café! If anyone has ever been to 2 Brothers Restaurant in Havana, it closely resembles the style and vibe! Love it! Let me give you my opinion on the Roho sips and bites. The coffee… amazing! I have experimented with a few different options including the café con leche, caramel cortado, and white chocolate coffee. With regards to sweetness, if you don’t like something sweet, just ask for no sugar or lite sugar. The coffee is obviously made to order, so people need to not complain about that. Also understand that café con leche is almost always sweet no matter where you go! The pastelito’s and empanada’s are so yummy! The guava pastelito and chicken empanada are my faves with the ham and queso being a close second! I tasted a sample of the passionfruit cake as well, and it had a great light fruity flavor. So Roho also has a wine tasting bar on the side. So cool! The café is in the process of adding more and more events and exciting stuff. Case in point what we experienced(and were the first to do so) yesterday morning. UNLIMITEDMIMOSA’s! And for only $ 18! The atmosphere is so great too! Sit outside on the comfy couches or at one of the tables and enjoy good champagne with fresh squeezed orange juice! So exciting! A few friends and myself came in for coffee and a snack and stayed for 2 hours and enjoyed every second! So I want everyone to check this place out and make it a great success! I know I will be a frequent visitor and will make it a point to check out the lunch and dinner options in the future! Congratulations Troy on opening a much needed, amazing place to go in my neighborhood! Jess

Upscale Cuban coffee. No it it’s an oxymoron. Considering this is Miami, I’m actually kind of surprised that we haven’t had a spot like this already. Yes, you can find some little hole in the wall window on Calle Ocho that serves a pretty impressively strong cup of coffee. That being said, they rarely are the kind of joints you would want to hang around for a couple of hours, working on your laptop or reading a book. Roho totally has the Cuban theme down… from the vibrant colors to the palm and Caribbean feeling, the bongos out front to the workers in their Panama hats and guayaberas. It’s clean it’s got plenty of seating, both inside and out, and in true Latin fashion, they’ve even got plenty of alcohol. Yes, along with your media noche or Abuela’s seafood empanada, you can imbibe on a cold frosty bottle of beer or sip a glass of wine from their little wine tasting corner in the back. They claim all their pastelitos and empanadas are made fresh and they’ve even got a display case of sinful looking chocolate truffles if you’d like a little treat. I had the chocolatte blanco(white chocolate, espresso and steamed milk), which I thought was very tasty. Unlike some other super artificially syruped drowned in more toppings blended mixed butterfinger/caramel/toffee lattes, this was a reasonable level of sweet and definitely not too cloying. They’ve also got cortaditos and colada’s, which always provide enough caffeine in a single serving, to fuel me for a week(which is sometimes completely necessary). Tried my friend’s cortadito and thought it was well executed too, a nice balance of strong coffee and sugar. Be warned, if you’re a coffee purist, this may not be the spot for you. It is not the kind of place that offers long explanations on the tasting notes of different bean varietals they serve. Wherever they get their beans from, even if it is some remote independent farm in the rainforest, they don’t give you the options to choose between a Colombian or Peruvian. Pretty much every item is blended with some variation of milk and/or sugar. They’re still pretty new(they have chalkboards up but they are currently blank, so you order off a paper menu) though, so this could change. Currently, it’s a laid back spot to sip some Cuban coffee, unwind with a beer or wine, and snack on a sandwich or some flan. The prices aren’t nearly as cheap as the little hole in the walls on 8th street, but it is pretty comparable to your usual coffee shop(I.E. Starbucks). It’s light, airy, and definitely inviting, and WiFi is complimentary with any purchase. Definitely worth supporting a local business!

I hate to dismiss a coffee joint just because I’m not a fan of the prevailing style of java it serves, but such is Unilocal.I do like the fact that Roho is trying to dress up and elevate Cuban coffee a bit, but damn, it’s still just way too sweet for my taste, sickeningly so. I ordered the café con leche, which of course looks an awful lot like your standard café latte with a nice froth on top, but there the similarities end. This coffee, micro-roasted as it may be, brings neither the roastiness nor the acidity to have a fighting chance against all the sugar that gets dumped in. To put things in perspective, if I order a latte anywhere else, I *might* add a mere half-a-packet of Sugar in the Raw, and even then that’s only if I’m in the mood for the barest hint of sweetness. I’d appreciate a no-sugar option. The employees were very attentive, so I’m sure they’d do it upon request. Still, in terms of pricing it doesn’t offer any appreciable advantage over Starbucks or even Eternity Coffee a few blocks away, so if I just want a latte that’s probably where I’d go first. Still, I can’t say that I’ve «experienced better» Cuban-style java, so by definition I have to give at least 3 stars. For what it’s worth, if I ever did come to want Cuban coffee, I’d choose Roho. The store itself is attractive, and does feature an invitingly large outside seating area from which one can watch Flagler St. go by. I could see it being worth coming here just to chill outside on a nice day.

I know what you’re thinking, «We need another coffee joint in Miami like Sandusky needs legal council.» Oh, that’s right, Miamians have an unnatural addiction to all things caffeinated especially if it starts with«Cuban» and ends with«coffee.» Roho is not just another black-tar-slingin’ coffee bar; it’s a classy place with the best, that’s right, I said it — THE F*CKIN’ BEST, coffee this side of the Caribbean. The first thing you’ll notice is that they ate a few square feet of store space to offset the front entrance in order to offer up an outside patio which is enclosed just enough to let you enjoy the smell of your cortadito and not those odd downtown passerby’s. Troy, Roho’s HMFIC, brought in the nation’s only Ferrari Red, Victoria Arduino espresso machine — approximately $ 40k by my estimations. Combined with Roho’s custom, home roasted beans and you’ve got some joe that I’d overdose on if given the opportunity. The prices are fair too. A buck and a half for the best colada of your life? Sold. Did I mention they serve some orgasmic truffles, pastries and dulce de leche cheesecake? There’s enough here for you to have already stopped reading and rush over right away but what if I told you they’ve usually got unpublished specials like café con leche, pan y huevos for $ 5.99 along with empanadas and various other delights? Done and done, see you at Roho.

I’m in love with this place. I get really excited when new places open up near my office giving me new spots to explore on my lunch break and for Friday happy hours. The Courthouse adjacent area of downtown(Eve C, we really do need to give this area a cool name), has new places popping up all over, and I love Roho as the newest addition. I went in for tea and an empanada one morning, and was immediately impressed with the décor. It’s bright and chic with a little old Miami feel. The staff is fantastic. They strike up conversation and they remembered me when I came in again. The empanada tasted like chicken soup in the center, but not runny or anything. It was amazing. The flavors were incredible. Another day, I came in for the pan con lechon sandwich. Also delicious and the pork was so tender. Roho will be a regular place for me to grab some tea or coffee and a sandwich for lunch. I’m also eager to stop by after work for a glass of wine or a beer. Their outdoor seating is an escape in the middle of the city’s tall buildings, and a beautiful way to spend a winter night in Miami.

Downtown is blossoming, and Roho is another great new addition to the Courthouse-adjacent area(do we have names for the sub-neighborhoods of Downtown yet?). After eyeing this location for months, patiently waiting for it to open, the moment finally came at the beginning of last week! On my first visit, how could I resist Mima’s Cortadito?! It was delicious, with the perfect blend of strong coffee and strong sugar. On the next visit, I opted for the good olé café con leche. The perfect eye-opener to start your day. Roho offers snacks from gourmet chocolates to empanadas and pastelitos, with an assortment of sandwiches listed on the wall for those coming during the lunch hours. Prices are on par with the Starbucks a half-block down, but supporting a local business is always a good thing. The staff is friendly, the location is convenient, and as of yet, there aren’t lines out the door at 9:00 a.m. Roho, you’ll be seeing me again quite soon!

The bf I stopped in this beautiful, new café today and I was just amazed at how this corner of downtown has transformed over the last few months. The restaurant was warm and inviting with bright, orange booths and murals on the wall. «I love Lucy» was playing on the TV and the ferns surrounding the cute, outdoor patio really made you want to just sit back and relax. Not only that but the people working were so friendly. I ordered my first Cuban coffee today and the nice guy working the counter didn’t even show the slightest bit of contempt when it was obvious I had no idea what I was ordering. The Cuban coffee by the way was delicious and very strong. It leaves you with a good caffeine buzz. I also love how they serve it in real mugs. I’m so sick of coffee places serving you in paper cups even if you are drinking in(I’m talking about you Starbucks). Besides coffee, they also sold an assortment of pastries and fancy, interesting sounding chocolates like banana truffles. The guy behind the counter says that in the future they plan on having a full brunch menu as well as wines and cheeses.
