Ended up at Rosa Mexicano for the first time, on a Wednesday evening after wondering the area for a while in search of a good meal. So we showed up, party of two and were seated within a couple minutes. I must say the place itself is quite nice. Seemed pretty expensive and had a great ambiance. That and our waitress and staff were all very friendly and professional. Like any Mexican restaurant, we snacked on chips and salsa while waiting on our order. Probably among the best salsa I’ve ever had… top 5 at least. My only gripe was the entrees. I ordered the 3-Enchiladas plate(after I told myself not to) and it was quite bland. Probably give it a 3 out of 10. It wasn’t until my friend told me his order also wasn’t very good that I started to feel somewhat disappointed. Maybe the cooks were having a bad day/hour, who knows? Whatever the case, I’m still glad I went. I have a huge crush on the hostess and if it weren’t for her I’d probably give this place 2 stars. Hope to see her again

We had a great experience at this Rosa Mexicano! It was my moms birthday and they went above and beyond. Complementary appetizer, drinks and dessert for her! Fajitas were delicious and the sangria is one of the best! I loved their margarita. Service was great! Definitely coming back!

Overall impression: Tried to make Mexican food upscale and ended up killing its soul I’ve let the hype build for about ten years now and so I was sorely disappointed I head about RM when they first came out years ago and never went for some odd reason. On New Years day I finally got my chance. Strolling around Mary Brickell Village hungover with some friends we ventured inwards. Everything in the restaurant half sold me. The décor was half beautiful with this amazing blue waterfall in the dining area decorated with silver divers. The pillars were covered in stunning shades of blue and white tile. The lights decorating the ceiling were very nice. Gypsy Kings and spanish guitar playing in the background. All of these were great touches that made the place feel warm and balmy. Then they dropped the ball with very ugly carpet lining the front entrance and leading to the kitchen. This random alligator artifact on the wall. A lot of the furniture was unappealing(chairs, booths, tables, etc). The same goes for the food! We ordered queso fundido and guacamole as appetizers, which were both good. It’s hard to screw up melted cheese with chorizo and that was phenomenal. For the guacamole, they bring out a cart and prepare it in front of you in this granite basin. I loved that they didn’t fully mash the avocados, keeping some chunks in the basin(made for a more intereseting and less homogenous dish). However, it was lacking salt and lime. This may just be personal preference. Regardless it was very fresh. I ordered a salad so I won’t even comment on that(trying to get over New Years hangover) as this is a Mexican restaurant so you can guess how that was. I did end up splitting my girlfriends plate which was fried pork. It was okay. The texture could have been crispier and I felt it could have been cooked longer. In addition, it was way too greasy, cooking it longer may have done a good job of balancing out the greasiness as the crispy texture could have soaked some of that up. Also the black bean purée they served at the table tasted okay and wasn’t very interesting. It lacked the flavorfulness you’d expect from Mexican cuisine. Lastly, I feel like our server was hungover, which I understand since its January 1st but its all I have to go on. He was polite, but not friendly. The staff was very professional so no complaints there. In addition, one of the girls eating with us is very picky(too picky) and she said her food was too spicy even though we ordered the least spicy food on the menu. The staff handled it incredibly well replacing her plate that was«too spicy» with the some steak fajitas. The manager even came out to make sure we were okay. I thought they did a great job in that respect. Overall they were polite and professional but not welcoming. In all, I thought the restaurant was okay and nothing special. Will probably be some time before I go back. I think by trying to be a bit more upscale they compromise a lot on what makes Mexican food so special, which are the intense flavors and street food aspect of the cuisine.

This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. I love the table side prepared guacamole. We ordered the nachos with shredded beef as our appetizer. It comes with real shredded cheese that is melted under a broiler rather than a cheese sauce. They also offer black verbs rather than the traditional red beans. They were just delicious. We also enjoyed the fajitas with perfectly cooked medium rare steak and moist grilled chicken breast served on a bed of sautéed peppers and melted cheese you have a choice of corn or flour tortillas and a side of yellow rice and black beans. The food is well seasoned and it comes out hot. We were a table of nine and the server kept our drinks filled and was attentive without being overly intrusive. He was knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere is hip and noisy. I would love to return

Can only comment on the bar. Came here for a reprieve from the rain + the BF loves tequila. Our bartender, Soloman(sp?) was amazing! Gave us a lesson in tequila and made some fantastic drinks. They close at 12 on Thursdays but we had no idea! We sat there happily sipping the tequila when I noticed everyone was organizing receipts, etc. When I asked, Soloman said — it’s no problem, just enjoy until the very last minute. What great service! We were in no way rushed and everyone there just so pleasant even though it was way past closing time. Made our MIA experience amazing. Thank you!

Came here for a birthday dinner. I really liked that they could accommodate such a large party of 13+ people in this area. I drank a vodka tonic which was pretty standard, you can’t really mess that up. Most of the guest enjoyed their food. Try La Ranchera when you come here. Also the queso fundido was a table favorite. Over all great experience.

Just finished up on my chicken fajitas… wow. Highly recommended. You should also try the made from scratch guacamole! Incredible food, pleasant atmosphere, great service. Solid 5 stars. Empty plate is the only pic, sorry I was hungry:)

No idea why this place would get 3 stars. I come here about once a month because it’s my boyfriend’s favorite for happy hour. Every time, great service, food is delicious and drinks are on point. My favorite are the chicken tacos, juicy, tender and full of flavor. I was them down with a frozen pomegranate margarita every time. Another favorite are the chicken flautas, crunchy, tender and just plain gooood.

So as a chain that originated from New York, I used to love go to the union square location. In fact I had my bridal shower there! Today around 2:30pm I wanted a quick light bite so my hubby and I headed to Rosa since they have a lunch menu. We were greeted with chips(crispy thin light their usual) and the salsa was a bit chunkier than usual(has huge uncut chunks of onion) rare for salsa. I ordered achiote chicken salad with red pepper and croutons and jalapeño dressing and my hubby ordered the kale salmon salad. It took a very long time to come out, they forgot to bring the dressing at the roasted red pepper amount was sad! The chicken was okay but the dressing was pure caeser no jalapeño. My husband didn’t mind his salad, it was decently refreshing but I thought salmon pieces were scarce. Only reason I give it a 2 star is because we’ve been here for happy hour and white sangria is fresh fruitful and inexpensive and we did like the empanadas but tacos weren’t memorable. Well go here again for happy hour but not for a main meal!

A little pricey for Mexican food buey, but nice upscale-ish ambience. Try the goat tacos on the soft corn tortillas aka cabra. Different and amazing. Melt in your mouth type of good. The guacamole is made to order table side so that’s another thing to get. If you’re into cocktails try the pomegranate margarita.

I love Mexican food. Which is a problem living in Miami, land of a thousand Latino restaurants but very few of the Mexican persuasion. Luckily there is Rosa Mexicano, easily one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. I know they’ve got some bad reviews. But I’ve been here around five times now and have never(and I mean Never) had a bad experience. In fact, quite the opposite. The service is top-notch; anticipating needs, considerate, going the extra-mile at every chance. One disclaimer, I am always here during the day.(kudos Day-Shift, you folks rock!). The food: beautiful, yummy, perfectly cooked. Carnitas and Carne Asada are better than perfect. So is the table side guacamole everyone is raving about. The atmosphere: nice, modern, clean. Typical Brickell-hip. Nice bar. Outside and inside service. So, yeah, I love this place and happily travel from across town to eat here. Note: Don’t forget to validate your valet parking too.

I’ve come here twice with some of my classmates to try the unlimited guac! I have to say that the guac is absolutely delicious. I love that they make it on the spot after you order it. This ensures that the avocados are fresh which is absolutely amazing. I love that you can get it with varying levels of spice but I could have done with even more spice than the highest level. Overall, loving the guac and the fact that it’s unlimited makes it such a good deal. The service, however, is not that great. We ordered the guac but they wouldn’t make it for like half an hour or more. It’s like they’re trying to force us to eat less guac and to fill up on chips. Also, we would ask for napkins and water and it’s like the waiters would just ignore us. It was really annoying having to keep flagging down waiters and ask for refills of everything.

What a wonderful experience this afternoon with Sarah & Mark. As a busy working professional, sometimes it is hard to meet up with your friends any other time that isn’t lunch or happy hour. With that being said, I missed my best friend’s birthday, and decided to surprise her during her lunch hour with lunch @ Rosa Mexicano. We were warmly greeted by Mark, who remembered all the details about my OpenTable reservation, including the fact that it was my friend’s birthday! We were promptly seated, and then greeted by our wonderful server Sarah. Sarah was quick, efficient, with the correct balance of friendly and professional. We ordered guacamole, a strawberry margarita, and mezcalrita. The Melzcalrita was a nice balance between smokey, salty, sweet, and strong — I loved it! My friend ordered the strawberry margarita, which she thoroughly enjoyed as well. Our guacamole was so fresh and fantastic, with the proper proportion of onions & cilantro to avocado. It is a little expensive, but in comparison to other places, it is worth the couple extra bucks. Unfortunately, we were unable to order an entrée due to time restrictions, but we were able to order the tres leche dessert, which they brought with a candle! The dessert had a wonderful marriage between sweet, creamy, and tart. They added berries to the plate which gave it a nice acidity, and the portion was perfect. The tres leche also tasted like it had some type of spice(not spicy) that i couldn’t quite put my finger on. It was a wonderful experience, and we definitely be returning to review the entrees. Thank you Sarah & Mark! It was a wonderful first time experience. My only suggestion is maybe more cocktail & taco variety. Doing so will definitely make Rosa Mexicano the best upscale Mexican in the area, even over Rocco’s.

Not sure what could be closer to a perfect dinner. We were joining an already large party for dinner(last minute party crashing). As we walked into the large dining room, we were already dazzled by a gorgeous display: beautiful doll setup on the flowing water display, cozy bright ceiling bulb wires, dangerously decorative tequila bottles and cutesy animal dolls caged a glass display. Seated next to the flowing water, we opted for the tableside guacamole demo — a MUSTHAVE. The waiter rolls a table over to us with a bowl of avocados, some tomatoes, ginger, and other necessary ingredients. Next thing we know — there’s a big bowl of freshly mixed guacamole set on the table to accompany the chips and salsa. To drink, I had a pineapple mojito which was interesting yet refreshing mint/pineapple blend. To eat, I’d be quick to recommend the enchiladas. There’s a terrific chicken enchilada that’s served as a roasted chicken tinga topped with a creamy tomatillo(green) sauce, cilantro, onion, and Chihuahua cheese. This tomatillo sauce offers a splendid sweet flavor, but it’s a good idea to ask for their chili hot sauce(if you’re craving authenticly Mexican spice). Black beans and brown rice accompanied as communal sides. Saving the best for last, an order of tres leches made its way to our table. Deviating from the norm, a layer of strawberry sauce encloses the three layered milk-cream cake. A string of fruits encircle the plate which were appealing both aesthetically and in taste — blackberries, strawberries, etc. Each bite was exceptionally savory. Could not have asked for a better meal here, although I’m sure the near-perfect experience came at a lofty price. Hey– you get what you pay for!

Came in to Rosa Mexicano for a business presentation by Zoetis. We were sat in their private room. The lighting is warm and intimate. We had over four servers just dedicated to our table, Everyone was happy with the service and we couldn’t help to deviate from the presentation to try their delicious guacamole which presented with a little kick is to perfection. Their salsa chips are crunchy and not greasy to our surprise. For the main entrée we had three choices. Choice number one was soft corn tortillas filled with wild mushrooms and spinach topped with a mild Mexican tamale sauce. The second choice was grilled salmon over sauted tuscan kale, crumbled chorizo, roasted corn and poblano chile, served over a poblano cheese crème. The third and my choice was the carne asada which i had medium rare, marinated in guajillo chile and tequila over Chihuahua cheese, with poblano rojos, served with house rice and re-fried beans. I had a few of their house margarita on the rocks, made to perfection, strong and with nice pour of tequila. I also tried their pomegranate frozen margarita, really nice and strong as well, served in a pretty martini glass. For desert we had churros in an excuisite artery clogging experience which set us off for anything else for the rest of the night and the day after. The entire experience was nice and I think i would love to just come back but instead for business regular dinner with a date. After all my girlfriends favorite cuisine is Mexican.

I went to Rosa Mexicano in New York City last year and absolutely fell in love with everything from the tableside prepared guacamole to the seasonal vegetable tacos to the iced tea with fresh vanilla syrup. It was an easy 5 out of 5 sprouts for me. I recently found myself at a conference in Miami and had a long lunch hour one day. I talked one of my fellow conference attendees into joining me at the Rosa Mexicano– Miamiin the Brickell Village neighborhood of the city. Ah, the disappointment. It was a beautiful spring day and we chose to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. We immediately ordered the guacamole which is freshly prepared tableside. Apparently, if you sit outside, they don’t roll the cart out to the table and prepare it in front of you, they simply bring it to you already made. I wish we had known that or had been told when we had ordered it. The menu clearly boasted it was prepared tableside. It’s a neat touch, especially when you are trying to impress a colleague. My colleague Lisa and I, both big fans of all things veggies, both ordered the Farmer’s Market Vegetable Tacos. Squash, mushrooms and brussel sprouts anchored apple pico de gallo and toasted macadamia nuts. Well… the tortillas were good. First of all, I am a huge fan of brussel sprouts. I prepare them at home often and I order them anytime I spot them on a restaurant menu. I have never had really terrible brussel sprouts out before. However, the sprouts here at the Miami Rosa Mexicano were so large, it would be next to impossible to cook them well. They were very chewy and very rubbery. Honestly inedible. The other veggies were also too rubbery and chewy. Neither one of us ate more than half of our dish. Thank Goodness we had ordered a second basket of chips and salsa so we had something to nosh on. Our server never returned to our table to check on us so we were never able to tell anyone our dissatisfaction. We did like the black beans that accompanied our entrees. The apple pico de gallo was flavored water sitting in the plate. The entire dish was terrible. In the end we had to hand another member of the staff our credit card just so we could leave. A few weeks later as I was back in New York City I went with my Mother to Rosa Mexicano again up there and ordered the same Vegetable tacos dish and it was fabulous. Everything was cooked perfectly and I was once again back in love with Rosa Mexicano. However, I would never recommend the Miami outlet. The food was awful and the bad service didn’t help. A very disappointing 2 ½ sprouts out of 5– but only for the Miami location. Don’t pass Rosa Mexicano up if you find yourself in New York City, but maybe keep walking if you pass by in Brickell Village Miami.
