Small store, good selection of hard liquors, very fair prices! I spoke to the owner for his recommendations, and he’s a whiskey man. Ethan H. already said it: they have lots of international spirits. Calvados, absinthe, elderflower liquer, etc. For a small store, the whiskey, bourbon, and scotch selections are pretty darn good. And, they have plenty of 175&375 ml sizes of cognacs, rums, vodkas, and tequilas if you want an assortment for cocktails. The staff is pretty nice, too. I explained to the gentleman behind the register that I was making a certain drink and couldn’t remember if I needed triple sec or cointreau– he pulled up a recipe off his computer at the register, lickety-split. I take a star off because their wine selection is limited. Which is fine, because it’s a small store, but the bottles are dusty.(I bought an insipid rose that might have well been dishwashing liquid. But that’s my fault for taking a risk on a $ 2.99 bottle of dusty pink wine.) Maybe among those old bottles there is a red that’s been aged to perfection?

Skylake liquors has the best liquor selection and prices in town. The prices on Macallan and Hennessey can’t be beat. Their Hennessey is even cheaper than the Exchange on my base which is supposedly duty free. They have the broadest tequila selection I’ve ever seen and their rum selection would impress Captain Jack Sparrow. If there’s a long lost rum you’ve been hunting for give Skylake liquors a shot. I held off on the 5th star for their lack of beer selection. I understand the name is Skylake Discount LIQUORS(not beer) but their selection is so small even for a place that specializes in liquor. If you are looking to stock your liquor cabinet and would like to save a few dollars in the process Skylake Discount Liquors is the place to do it.

Sky Lake Discount Liquors has the BEST liquor selection I’ve seen in South Florida. It’s not quite as pretty or showy as Total Wine, but with gems packed into every corner, Sky Lake shows that you can do a lot if you focus on selection rather than appearances. Among the gems available at Sky Lake: Absinthe(Absenthe), Flor de Cana Rum, distilled fruit spirits, brandies and schnapps from Grappa to Calvados, Kirschwasser to Palinka, and probably even Slivovitz if you looked hard enough. Heck, they even had Apfelkorn(a German brandy made from apples) and a fine selection of exotic Tequilas to boot. Of special note, Sky Lake Liquor has perhaps the widest(if not the finest) selection of anisette-based drinks I’ve seen in the US of A(Sambuca, Arak, Raki, Pernod, Ouzo … basically, a differently delightful version of the same thing from virtually every country on the Mediterranean). Whereas I had trouble finding Arak ANYWHERE in this city, Sky Lake Liquor had two(Israeli and Lebanese); whereas I’d all but given up on my search for anisette, Sky Lake had several, from dulce to seco. Incidentally, if you haven’t tried any of these, I highly recommend them, especially if you like black liquorice.
