So, we were on a mission from work to get some specific colored candies for an upcoming event. I looked up this place online(but failed to read the Unilocal reviews — my regret) and called and asked some questions. The young lady assured me that they had what I wanted. I also asked about the price. I was given their retail price but I was told if I bought in bulk, they could do «much better.» So, we drove down to Sunset Place, entered the parking and finally found this place. We walk into the music so loud we could barely think. As we were the only customers I asked if they could possibly turn it down only to be told that the«owner wants it this way.» Just trying to explain what we wanted and how much was super difficult and nerve racking with the music going at 110! We finally gathered up the candies we needed and I routinely asked about the price and I was told we would qualify for a discount. Finally, she starts ringing us up and I see the numbers grow larger and larger, but I stay calm trying to think that discounts come at the end. Before the discount we were at $ 622(sure, it maybe for work but we all have budgets) and then I am told I can only get 10% as if I were a mall employee(it seems, mall employees get 10% off). WTF? I am pretty sure mall employees do not routinely drop over $ 500 on candy. Well, it was no where near in the range we were looking for so we bailed. We went to Wal-Mart and found most of the same things for around $ 150! Lesson learned: Do your research! Probably a cool place to buy a candy bar on the go, especially if you are a «mall employee» but for us, it was a waste of time(and $ 3 parking charge!)

I went to another one of their stores and thought I would check this one out to see if maybe it was any better — unfortunately it was not. The staff were miserable and bickering. It seems the owner had some problem with the State and they were recently closed down. I could see how that would ruin your day but when customers hear about it then we are less likely to shop there and that less sales. Oh well, it seems the owner does not care about the store or its employees. Perhaps he will leave Sugar Delusion for Sugar Reality. Treat employees right and they will take care of your customers!

OK… this is admittedly a great candy store with a wide but albeit pricey selection of treats. However, one would think.“Hey.these people are working in a CANDY store. they should be «SWEET». “Natch” on that idea. sour as those«tart balls» we used to have as kids. I went in there the other night to buy my daughter(recovering from surgery) some candy. Not knowing the EXACT brand that she likes, I decided to text her a picture of the few items that I thought she might enjoy to get confirmation that I’m buying the CORRECT candy(you know.9 year olds. VERY picky candy freaks). Lo and behold. apparently I committed some grave«candy» sin and the ghost of Willy Wonka rose from the ashes to set off the alarms. I was immediately accosted by the«not so sweet» on duty clerk who abuptly informed me that«pictures are not allowed in the store». OK.I will admit that I did look at him with a dumbfounded expression(it comes easy when people are making NO sense) and I truly thought he was kidding. So, of course, I said«Are you kidding?» Nope.company policy… apparently they take their trademark candy displays VERY seriously… So I turned to leave and find a sweeter store… started to walk out one of the EXIT doors(that were wide open to the mall) and was accosted AGAIN by a seperate clerk. this time I had to use the OTHER exit door. GEEZ.ya THINK being around so much candy that the sugar would sink in… but.no.apparently there’s an employee discount on «Sour Suckers»

I was surprised to find good reviews about this unappealing candy store; read them carefully and you’ll see they’re just for advertising. Everything is bland and overpriced here. Skip it completely.

Sugar Heaven is more than just the perfect way to satisfy your sweet tooth, it’s a must-visit stop in the Shops at Sunset Place. Whether you’re going to see a movie or just need a little pick-me-up after a grueling day of shopping, Sugar Heaven has the staff, the music, and the stock to make you want to go back every time. The staff go out of their way to make sure they can help you in any way possible. They’ll even give you samples to help you find the right candy for you. You’ll probably want to fill your bag with every candy in the store(except for maybe black licorice… I don’t know WHO likes that stuff… but they have it, too). Are you a fan of oreos? Sugar heaven has the ones that are covered in chocolate. Yeah, CHOCOLATE-COVEREDOREOS. Sugar Heaven’s got a great playlist, too. None of those terrible techno remixes(of songs that are crap to begin with) that you hear at those trendy, overpriced clothing stores: Tons of classic rock, great 80’s hits, and others play all day. Oh, and did I mention they have jawbreakers that are the size of your head? LOOOOOOOOVESUGARHEAVVVVVVENNNN!

God I love candy. Do you know how much I love candy? I buy that shit by the POUND. And I gd love places like Sugar Heaven. The location at the Sunset Place mall replaced the former FAO Schweetz, which was always insanely overpriced and totally stuck up. The staff at Sugar Heaven are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the selection of candy is superb. Umm, 1000 different sour tapes in assorted flavors? No problem. Two tons of chocolate covered cake batter? You got it. Not to mention, this place is a great stop before the movies — *hinthint* Stop by and hang out with William, David and their crew and get your fix. You know you want to.
