Went for a bday party. Bday peeps rented out the AC’d room which was nice and roomy for their festivities. Playground itself was nice. Provided all the basics — slides, bridge, swings, climbing stuff, the works. All covered which is a must in the sweltering Miami sun. Loses a star bc of the mulch which makes it difficult for toddlers to walk. We’ll be back when our toddler is less wobbly.

This is regarding the Suniland Roller Hockey Rink the the Golf Course on 152nd and US-1. They have been doing renovations lately with work around the parking lot and some ADA parking and seating areas, as well as some debris removal. Fences need mending but mostly servicable. In addition to Roller Hockey, Suniland(we call it «The Roll Cage») is home to Miami’s new Roller Derby League, «Miami’s Vice City Rollers» and Miami’s only Youth Roller Derby program«South Florida Jr Roller Derby».

This is my park, it is where I grew up. It is more about the people than the land. The Optimist League makes this park what it is. You want to play hockey, but can’t afford the gear, they will find a way to help you. They truly want to see kids learn and enjoy the games. Hockey, basketball, football, and baseball, those are the games played here. Well, the hockey is actually played at the golf course on SW152nd street. 9 years ago they built a rink there. Suniland park itself has 3 baseball fields(two normal and one kiddie one) Batting cages(not sure about pitching machines, baseball didn’t do it for me) two basketball courts football field and the hockey rink I mentioned. If you have a kid that wants to get into sports, this is the place to bring them. They make sure everyone learns the game, and gets to play.

I forgot to mention something really important, the optimist league. If you have a child, they have peewee baseball, football, basketball & roller hockey. GOSUNDEVILS! My brother Jimmy, who passed away in 1999, played every sport they offered. And the semi-permanent roller hockey rink on the corner of US1&SW152 Street(in the bus parking lot next to the golf course across from the fire station) is named in honor of him. It was really fun growing up at this park.

A baseball park that includes two lighted basketball courts. There are always plenty of drop in basketball games during late afternoons and on weekends. The main parking lot is off SW128th St.
