I really wanted to like this place, but sadly, the food was not great. My dad had been dying to try this place, so my parents and I went today for Father’s Day, and we were disappointed. My dad got a tamarind cocktail, and I got a passion fruit cocktail with jalapeño. The drinks were not sweet enough to bring out the fruit flavors in the cocktails, and the alcohol was too strong. We both like strong drinks, so it’s saying a lot that we felt that the alcohol overpowered any other flavor in the drink. I had to order a Sprite to mix in with my drink to make it okay. Each cocktail was $ 15, which made this extra disappointing. The appetizers were not great. My dad got duck empanadas that were not too flavorful. My mom got octopus that was overpowered by the celery seasoning. I got ceviche that had too strong a citrus flavor. It seemed like the protein of each dish was flavorless and overpowered by one dominant seasoning flavor. The entrees were not great. I had an Atlantic halibut over lobster hash, my mom had a T-bone steak, and my dad had snapper. The consensus was that each dish was okay but nothing to write home about. The flavors were too mild(borderline flavorless). The desserts really saved the meal. I’m glad we didn’t choose to leave without dessert. I had a chocolate/hazelnut mousse bar with chocolate ice cream that was the perfect sweetness(not too sweet) and very flavorful. My mom had guava brioche French toast with Parmesan ice cream that also had a great flavor. My dad had carrot cake waffles with coconut ice cream that he really liked. If everything were as good as the desserts, I would love this place. The service and ambiance was excellent. Our waiter was very nice and came to the table when we needed him without being annoying at all. The valet and host and servers were also all so nice. We did enjoy our time there, but it’s way too expensive for the very unsatisfying food, so I have to give it a bad review. :(I really wanted to like it!

Tuyo is where you take someone you want to spoil or celebrate with. The staff manage dinner as if you had matching full-body casts. Your chair is pulled out for you, napkins are draped over laps, and the water and cocktail glasses seemingly fill themselves. The chef-instructors and sommeliers of the Miami Culinary Institute put their brains together so you won’t have to. They’ve created elegant wine pairings to escort every course so you can focus on the view from the penthouse restaurant. Their prix-fixe menus feature extravagant dishes like the warming Lobster Bisque with black-eyed pea fritters crowned with crème fraiche. It’s followed by a hot ‘n’ heavy Beef Tenderloin wrapped in Spanish chorizo accompanied by shallot whipped potatoes and lightly sautéed sweet fennel. La fin should come in the form of a wispy Strawberry Cheesecake led by caramelized white chocolate and house-made gelato or catch the after-dinner drink cart as it makes its rounds. Reserve a table for two at Tuyo for an experience that is truly yours.

Excellent place. Is so nice, the attention is insuperable, the food amazing, but the view is worthy. The menu is seasonal so always is fresh and local. The have also a really good selection of wine to paired with your food. So just come and enjoy.

Went for our anniversary and had a great experience! Great view, great food, and excellent service. They made us feel welcomed from the second we got to the restaurant. Will definitely be going again!

«Meh» summarizes my impression of the food here at Tuyo. I cannot say the food is bad, it’s just mediocare. Given the price of the food, I’m not coming back here, there are much better options in the neighborhood. Watery lobster bisque: I had better lobster bisque for $ 5 a bowl. I ordered medium rare tendorloin, showed up as medium. The mashed potato tasted like store bought. The desert was too sweet but not much flavor. I would score 1⁄5 but, the service is decent, and the view is nice, but that’s not why you go to a restaurant, is it?

First time here. We came for Valentines’s dinner. From other reviews mentioned about the view, romantic place. If you think concrete buildings and parking garage is a nice view, I have no other words to describe. They served a pre-fix menu, 3 course meal for $ 85/person. After I have my first course, I really want to get up and go. The lobster bisque is wayyyyy too sweet and watery. Okay. Let’s hope the the second to be better. My black cod came, the plate looks nice and AGAIN, my fish is very sweet! Is it the thyme for VALENTINE’s. Extra sugar on everything. The desert was okay. Sweet as expected. Very disappointed. Cost for 2 + drinks + service charge, Not worth it! I really want my money back.

Expansive views of downtown Miami frame a cozy yet elegant dining room. The large dining chairs make seating for large parties somewhat cumbersome, but the décor is classic and neutral. Menu selections showcase local ingredients and new interpretations of classic Florida dishes. Service is impeccable, but prices are not cheap. I can see someone becoming easily frustrated if the execution is not perfect, given the prices in the menu. Would repeat for a date, or entertaining friends from out of town.

Not to be missed. To be sure, you will drop quite a bit of money, but it is truly worth it for the dining experience and the food. First, this restaurant is located at the top of the Miami Culinary Institute, but students DONOT cook or serve the food. It is all professional staff. Some profits from the restaurant are donated to the school-so they give back. The chef’s tasting menu is how you can best experience the range of flavors and cuisine offered. The timing of the courses was measured perfectly for us. The ambiance is really romantic.

Took a group of business associates to Tuyo for dinner at the recommendation of a friend and I am glad I did. Food was very creative, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was beautiful. My party included people from DC, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas and Atlanta and everyone was impressed. This is a wonderful hidden gem in Miami.

this review is based solely on the Miami Spice menu. it was a «blues» inspired menu so it was very southern(ie, New Orleans) the restaurant itself is small and cute. located on top of the MDC Culinary school and it offers $ 7 Valet parking and has a great view of the freedom tower in Downtown. the reason i’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the Miami Spice menu is a little misleading. it says Signature Cocktails $ 10 on the Miami Spice menu, so my friends and i were thinking that cocktails would be $ 10 if you’re ordering from that menu… WRONG. they have ONE cocktail called the Miami Spice Cocktail and that’s the ONLYONE that’s $ 10 so we were a little taken back when we got the bill and asked our server about it. The server and the manager made us feel like we were beneath them because we were asking about that. they pretty much brushed us off because we were on the Miami Spice menu. granted, I will probably wont eat there again because it’s just out of my price range(i’m a baller on a budget) but the food was good, i’ll give them that

Went for Miami Spice — Taste of Brazil Menu. I would love to go back based on this menu(for Miami Spice). Not sure if the regular prices would peak my interest enough for consistent business. The view is, as you have heard, a beautiful city view. The staff is professional and knowledgeable, the food is delish! Its a must try in my book. The wine I had gave me a MAJOR headache :0/ I don’t recall the name off hand but basically, stay away from the cheaper bottles…

Came here on a lark, after seeing them on SoFlo taste. You should check out the Black Angus and bone marrow(el Niño y El Toro), and the Tuna Carpaccio. The Chartreuse Smash is their take on the Classic Mojito… Very drinkable. Order 2. :) Pelton our waiter was really nice, and helped us navigate the options on the menu, ask for him.

Miami Spice at Tuyo was amazing. The Spanish tapas trio was great — the shrip was perfectly crispy and the albondigas were delicious. For the entrée we had the beef tenderloin which was amazing. We also had the octopus — this dish will not disappoint — it exceeded my expectations. The octopus was cooked to perfection. The service was impeccable — the attention to detail was incredible. This is a no brainer choice for Miami Spice!

Came for Miami Spice! Park valet for $ 7 and not 3 blocks away for $ 10– granted it was a special event night and there were cars everywhere, you can probably find street parking. Located atop the Miami Culinary School, it was cool bc they have their name projected onto the building so that you can’t miss it. Not a super high building– I think we were on the 8th floor? A good sized restaurant, not too big, not too small. We got a view of downtown Miami with the Freedom tower, their lights were gorgeous. Their Miami Spice menu seems like it’s it was created just for Miami Spice– but food was a good sized portion, enough to completely fill me up and more. Duck– stick with Medium rare and don’t be like me and got it Medium. I do want to come back and their their regular menu… one day! Don’t forget to check out the bathroom before you leave!

I came here using the chance of Miami Spice, because this place looked amazing and a bit too expensive for a regular dinner. The menu was impressing, dishes really creative, tasty and fullfilling, the ones I chose were french style food, so quite heavy but still delicious, cooked with a great sense and beautifully presented!!! Don´t miss the lobster, is an extra $ 10 but believe me, is one of the best of this place, The restaurant is in a 7th floor, atmosphere is super romantic, and the place is not so big so reserving is a must. I came at 7 pm, and the view was really beautiful from the window, but I think if you come later(around 8 or 8:30 pm) it can be even better, as there are some small candles on the table. Service is very nice, they were very fast bringing our food and always near to refill our glasses with water. I checked the regular menu and it looks really good… If I have another chance to come back, and some savings, for sure I will.

Really excellent meal. We came here for the Miami Spice menu and arrived extremely late(even on Miami time.) and the staff still graciously retained our spot. I had the mussels, duck breast and crème brûlée. All cooked wonderfully. The small accents on each dish added flavor and zest(apple strips on the mussels, malbec apple squares on the crème brûlée) and thoroughly delighted my palate. The view is one of the best I’ve had at a Miami restaurant. The service is attentive and quick. Perhaps it’s priced a bit high for general nights out, but I’d do an anniversary dinner or special event here in a heartbeat.

I had driven past Tuyo way too many times without thinking about dining here. It was while I browsed the menus of Miami Spice that Tuyo really stood out for me. It was my husband’s birthday celebration and we were both quite impressed! The service was SUPERB, the ambience was perfect for a romantic dinner, and the views of course are beautiful! The Spice menu changes every two weeks and I totally see us coming back to try the other options. First they have the Classical Menu(which we tried), then it’ll be Flamenco, then Bossa Nova, and lastly Blues. They also play the corresponding music during dinner which I thought was a nice touch! The food was AMAZING! My husband had the Mussels, Roasted Duck(favorite of the night!), and the trio of French cheeses. I had their take on Onion Soup(delicious), the Loup de Mer, and the Crème Brulee. Tuyo definitely exceeded our expectations!

We came to eat at Tuyo for Miami Spice and ate off of the Classical menu. I had the mussels appetizers, Loup de Mer à la Provençale(Mediterranean style fish) as the entrée, and a French trio of cheeses for dessert. My girlfriend had the onion soup, roasted duck, and the Opera Gâteau. Each of the dishes had so much flavor and the more we dug in, the more our taste buds were surprised and delighted. Bottom line is: the three course meals are exquisite and the service is very good.

So I heard about this place and looked it up and I had to try it. The restaurant is located near the American Airlines Arena in downtown Miami sitting atop of Miami Dade College’s Culinary Institute. The restaurant is on the 8th floor giving you a panoramic view of the city skyline, and ocean view. The ambience is exceptional with also a great view of the freedom tower. The food is a Contemporary American cuisine made with fresh quality ingredients. They had creative preparations and the presentations were just picture taking. For a starter I order the Citrus Crab Salad which was very good. For the main course we ordered a Crispy Skinned Filet of King Salmon and a Diver caught Black Grouper and Maine Lobster Ceviche both were delicious. The Staff is very attentive and polite. They had knowledge of each detail of the preparation of the food, wines, and liquor. I will definitely be coming back to try their tasting menu which looks interesting. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I have to apologize. I meant to write this review two years ago… and I forgot! I know, might not be relevant today, but from the other(recent) reviews here I concluded that Tuyo is still rocking. We haven’t gone back to Tuyo not because we don’t care about it’s great food and immaculate service, au contraire, but lately Miami has so many new places popping up every month that we just couldn’t resist trying new eateries — so forgive me Tuyo for not coming back… but I will this year, I promise! Just a quick summary of our(very long ago) experience: service was perfect from the valet to the hostess to the waiters to the bus boys… food was from very good to excellent, ambiance is charming, deco is very nice. We started with Yuca Shrimp and a Foie Gras plate as appetizers. Then the Swordfish, Grouper and Beef Duo. Finished with Molten Chocolate cake and Donut Bites. Wine as a very good and very inexpensive Pinot Grigio, called Valle. Every single plate was unique and delightful… unfortunately these dishes might not be available now a days. I will be back soon to update this review. For now… highly recommended. Cheers!

Elegance is the best way to describe this place. It’s on the 8th floor of the Miami culinary institute in downtown Miami. There is valet parki by when you pull up that is cheaper than area parking garages($ 7.00) right in front of the building. The front desk checks your reservation(I assume you need one then(and sends you up. When you wld out of the elevator, you are in the restaurant and after being greeted by the host the first thing you notice is the freedom tower in the background. Fantastic view. You can see the AAA and tall buildings in the backgrund. I am sure you cld probably see the bay too but it was at night so I couldnt. The place was not huge. It had maybe 30 tables and There was white linens and plush chairs at the tables. There was also romantic Brazilian music playing in the background and a fireplace along the back wall sizzling with a luminated«Tuyo» sign above it. Very romantic. The menu was interesting, it was American with a french infusion to it. I got the roasted organic chicken with potatoes and swiss chard(very american), it was delicious. Tender and juicy. To drink, i had a cucumber martini. Also good. The service was very attentive. Our waiter seemed a bit nervous, i think he was new, but very nice and accommodating. The place is pretty expensive so keep that in mind. I would return.

We decided to visit Tuyo for my sister’s birthday dinner. On the way in the manager who also teaches at Miami Dade College showed us the kitchen and promoted the classes they offer which somewhat cool… They chose to sit us at one of the 2 larger tables which were in a corner so we didn’t get to appreciate their nice view but I had read the reviews for parties over 5 so I went with it… The server was very polite but she took an ornately amount of time to take our order and between dishes. The food was OK, but there were too many errors: Someone’s fish was over salted, another fish and a steak were overcooked, and the salads were amateurish: you can definitely tell inexperienced chefs prepared the meals. I found the sides to be more flavorful than the actual main dishes. Although I appreciate the restaurant willingness to accommodate the request to make a special dish for a child, they should have been upfront with its cost — this meal was more expensive than the average regular item. So, if you know all that going in and you lower your expectations, you’ll probably love it. However, their price point made me go with high expectations and the chefs didn’t deliver that so I was disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

I must say I was quite impressed with this restaurant. I got a call earlier in the day to confirm the reservation and took the opportunity to ask the caller a little more about the location since I was unsure as to the proximity to the arena. I intended to stop in for an early dinner prior to a concert. To my surprise, the parking is free and the location of the restaurant is literally walking distance which made it perfect. I wanted to dine within walking distance and not compromise by going to a quick eatery at Bayside. Upon walking in, I noticed the restaurant was smaller than I had expected but this of course is not a problem. It’s got a beautiful view on one side of the freedom tower, biscayne blvd and the arena. The décor inside has nice and feels open and inviting. Once seated, they immediately changed our linens to black since they noticed my friend and I were wearing dark colors. They also brought out a purse holder to hang the purse from the table. Two gestures that went a long way with me! I noticed food in general seemed a little pricey but we found ourselves curious about some of the menu items so that did not deter us from ordering. I started off with a salad; Lemon-Vanilla Vinaigrette-Dressed Lettuces, Textures of Granny Smith Apple, Local Goat Cheese and Candied Walnuts… this was great! Would have been better if it had more candied walnuts but oh well. My main dish was a snapper– Pan-Roasted American Red Snapper on Coconut-Jasmine Rice with Pineapple, Black Bean Salsa and Ginger-Lime Vinaigrette. This dish was also very good although it barely had any pineapple! The guava cocktails we ordered were delicious! Service was stellar, meals were delish and views were not too shabby. Overall, our experience was great; and did I mention parking was free and across the street from American Airlines Arena?
