The Golden Leaf

This is about as low class cigar shop I’ve visited. To add to their problems the employee or owner was rude, short and intentionally unhelpful. No pipe or rolling tobacco no decent cigars that aren’t priced too high. I don’t give money to people who treat others this way

I was in Michigan City for a family vacation and I came in here to get some cigars since it seemed to be the only cigar store in town (I found this place on Unilocal). No one was at the counter when I walked in and after looking for a few minutes, a guy finally came around and asked if there was something I needed. I asked if they had any Toranos or any Oliva cigars. The man looked completely confused. I then said, you know, Casa Toranos, Oliva Serie V or O? He then said, «We’re out.» I remember a review I read on here earlier saying that they had good house cigars. I inquired about them and he looked even more confused. The guy said, «We don’t make any cigars. We just ship them in.»
I felt like I was interrupting his day by coming in. I eventually settled on a couple Saint Luis Rey Reserva Especials and an Acid Blondie for my friend and then left. I don’t feel that their selection or prices are good enough for me to come back here. Next time I am in Michigan City, I will make sure I bring my own from home.

I’m more of an itinerant cigar smoker than an aficionado, but I still like the Golden Leaf plenty. It is a small shop, but they had a good selection and a knowledgeable guy behind the counter who helped me pick out a few good cigars.
I wasn’t able to use the smoking lounge, but it looked like a good place to smoke awhile.

Best Cigar Shop in northern In. No cigarettes just fine cigars. Nice little comfy lounge. The house cigars are worth a try. Nice people with a good grasp of the products

Okay, forget the Tinderbox. If you want cigars and you want a great selection and super friendly service, this is the place. The staff was very knowledgeable. They are located in Michigan City, off one of the side streets next to the Lighthouse Mall. I’ve had friends buy cigars for me from this place and they always spoke well of it. Finally, I made the trip to visit them and it was well worth it. They have the best selection of cigars outside of Chicago. I was also impressed with their prices. I buy most of my cigars online because they are less expensive; however, this place came darn close. And hey, you gotta support your local bricks and mortars.
