This Rite Aid is completely incompetent. After moving to the area, I transferred my prescriptions here since it was closer than the nearest CVS. What a mistake! Twice previously, I had witnessed other unhappy pharmacy customers at this location, and now I’m not really wondering why. After my second month in the new place, I went to pick up my prescription. Ooo, a drive-thru! I can be lazy AND pick it up! I pull up to the window, buzz the little window bell, and wait. And wait. I buzz it again, and some pubescent teen meanders over and pushes the intercom. «Uhh… can I help you?» I give him my name, tell him I’m here to pick up my script, and wait. And wait. And wait some more. So I hit the buzzer again, and he comes back saying he’ll be right with me. Now, I know my prescription is ready since I called it in like three days before(because their phone refill service is kind of a pain and doesn’t function on Sundays for whatever reason). At this point, there are two cars behind me who are probably thinking I’m that crappy customer with insurance problems and holds everything up. After waiting for another FIVE minutes(I’m timing this shizz), I realize that I am about to Hulk-out on Rite Aid, pull my car out of line, and storm inside instead. There were a bunch of unhappy customers in there, too. What, did they run out of pills or something? How do you have that kind of backup when there are three emo techs wandering around behind the counter? Oh, right. On one occasion, one of the teen-aged techs was openly and loudly bashing a customer after she left. At least hide it behind the counter, you unprofessional novice. That sealed the deal on me transferring my script back to CVS for adequate customer service.

This place deserves a solid three stars. They’re great, they’re not great, they’re great again. In Middleboro Rite Aid was my go-to place for photo processing and travel related expenditures, among so many other things, where to begin. For starters I prefer Rite Aid’s photo processing, but in my mind I am already arguing with myself. This particular Rite Aid almost always has their one-hour photo and digital processing out of commission. However, in-store digital processing costs just a fraction of regular film developing to begin with(usually nine to 29 cents per photo depending on quantity), the quality is better, and send-out service costs even less, so I’ve opted for that. My good/bad experiences are countless. Last time I did digital processing I had no choice but to opt for send-out service, but it was hundreds of vacation pics and I was willing to wait. It was a Thursday, they told me come back Monday; came back Monday and the first batch was done. I was shown according to their log book the second should be done Wednesday; came back Wednesday but they weren’t there. «Try again Friday.» Came back Friday and still nothing, after over a week I told the photo lady(different person) they said Wednesday at the latest. This next part kills me. The woman stares me straight in the eye and goes«Oh, well there’s no record in our log it even went out.» I had SEENIT the log book two days prior! I told her this and she took off embarrassed, had another man come to the front and help me. After I told him all of this he assured me my photos would be free. I’ll save you some reading by saying this is definitely not the first time I have gotten free photos from this store, I’ve literally probably saved hundreds due to their incompetence. But hey I guess poor service and free photos cancel out, and the [digital] photos always come out great. Note: I do NOT recommend their film developing. I got my passport photos taken at Rite Aid after having gone to CVS, who did a horrible job on them. The Rite Aid emplyee took literally 30 seconds to pull down the backdrop and snap the pic and the photos came out great. Rite Aid is also great when I plan to travel, as I have used them more than anyone to buy reloads for my H&R Block Emerald card which is GreenDot compatible, and that I use for online use. Never a problem there, and in addition they sell pretty much every kind of gift card/certificate imaginable. Rite Aid is also good in that they have a wider variety than other drug stores, but. Pricing — Rite Aid is OUTRAGEOUS when it comes to prices. I have the perfect example, I have always bought the same two-pack of GUM toothbrushes at Rite Aid. Originally I paid $ 3.49. The next time around they were $ 3.99. Okay, then $ 4.19. Now $ 4.99, all in a span of two years. I’ve never seen a store so frequently or consistently raise their prices as this one, but again, so often I’d go in there and find the opposite too; buy one get one, discontinued items at super low prices, etc. It’s like a coalition if geniuses and know-nothing simultaneously maintain the ebb and flow of this chain! Employees, it’s a mixed bag. This Rite Aid has some of the most helpful and friendly employees anywhere. They also have a few employees that are the utter opposite, and in fact some of their worst employees are managers! But for the most part great people. Three solid stars — four on a good day, two on a bad day.
