Dined for the first time at The L with my family. The atmosphere was okay, we sat in the rear dining room, which felt a bit separated from the rest of the restaurant, but noticed a nice bar as we entered. For apps we had the risotto balls which we’re great to share and very flavorful. My entrée was also very good, salmon, sweet potato empanadas with a black bean sauce and citrus arugula salad, was a unique combination that completed eachother nicely. The portions were generous and my dining partners also enjoyed their meals. The only negative was that it took 15 minutes(without exaggeration) for our waitress to pick up our check to pay. Other servers passed, several times, and ignored our ready check. Overall, I would recommend the L!

We haven’t been back in a long while because of some very disappointing experiences in the past. This dinner was done as it should be. Fried mozzarella and shrimp cocktail were standard, shrimp was over priced. The short rib entrée and scallop entrée were perfect. Seasoned to perfection, so tasty. Unfortunately both meals were served with soggy green beans that lacked any taste. The waitress was not attentive, and seemed to get lost frequently. The hostess seems to have multiple jobs, and was around a good deal, she was also able to find the waitress. The atmosphere is clean and comfortable with great outdoor views. We are going to give it another try.

We live nearby and like to go to L because of the convenience. Love having a restaurant this close. Usually it’s pretty good. Tonight was disappointing. The Bolognese is pretty good. I specifically asked for the pasta as al dente as the chef could make it. The server looked at me like I had two heads. And of course what happens… It comes mushy as hell. Ruined the meal.

Went there last night for our anniversary hoping to have a great meal. How wrong we were. The tuna was horrid and the pork was tough. Would not go there again. Food was better at their previous location. Cross this one off of our list.

The food is just good, I find that L wants to push creativity and style of the dishes but it just isn’t there technically. Don’t get me wrong the food is fine but it is not prepared or executed well many times. Overall not bad if you want a place to give you quality with decent food just don’t go there thinking it is a upscale/fine dining establishment it is marketed to be.

My family and I came here two nights ago for my sister’s college graduation dinner. We had a couple of picky eaters with us, so we wanted a nice restaurant that offered something for everyone. L Restaurant did not disappoint! The arancini and flatbread were great. I got the 7-spice salmon, which was cooked perfectly. Two people in our party got the veal, though one was a bit over cooked. My sister got the pork shank, so big and delicious she had to take half of it to go. We also ordered wine and cocktails. Not an extensive wine list, but good choices can be found. The martinis weren’t great(vanilla pear I think, and the white grape margarita), but my lichi martini was lovely. Though you can’t go wrong with lichi and vodka. The service was excellent. Our waitress was incredibly attentive without being overbearing. And the chef even created a last minute cake, though she claims to not be a baker. It was moist and delicious. All in all, a great experience.

They are back to taking reservations at the bar. At lease they did this past Thursday. Another nail in the so so bland boring menu establishment.

I could not wait to write this REVIEW!!! Im not one to be bashful but the«L» stands for LOW quality! I was looking forward to this place for a while now and finally made last minute plans, smh… It was the opposite of everything I expected. My salad was brown like it had sit out for days, I ordered penne bolognese it might as well been vegetable soup with ground beef and pasta my lady had the 7 spiced salmon, it was nothing more than bland with out seasoning. The location was unique but honestly a waist of space with no décor taste. We left wishing we just went to taco bell! Never again… This place goes on the NGB list(*NEVERGOINGBACK).

I really like this place. It was our second visit. We had to drop off the VW for repair up in Watertown so I said to my partner let’s make it worth our while and see if we can get in here. We did not have a reservation. The parking lot was pretty full and but there were a few tables open and we were immdeiately seated. The crew is warm and welcoming. We both had the Pedroncelli Mother Clone Zinfandel and it was excellent. We liked that so much the next day we stopped at our local wine shop and picked up 2 bottles. Bread brought to the table along with a sampling of a cold pasta appetizer that was very good, garlicky and spicy! I had the orecchiette with chicken, bacon, and peas. YUMMY! My partner had the pork dish and he thought it was good. We shared the almond joy dessert, more that enough for two. This place is well hidden off the main drag, you won’t see it off the road. You’ll see a sign on the left but but don’t turn there, go past the sign and take the next left and go up into the lot. Seems like the restaurant is in a medial building. Enjoy!

Went to the L restaurant on recommendation of Dave, Mgr Middlebury Consignment. The service was terrific and the food was nothing short of fantastic. I had the Braised Short Rib & my wife had the Sautéed Chicken, both were equally terrific. Al & Kathy S

To Hell with any naysayers! The food was spot on! My waitress Andrea was extremely responsive, courteous and friendly! Geez, where do I start! Best meal at a restaurant in a while! I had an amazing mahi mahi dish, my wife had these amazing raviolis, the drinks were spot on! Now the dessert! Holy Lord in Heaven! I had a PHENOMENAL pumpkin cheese cake! WOW! A++++ I encourage everyone to swing in to eat! I’ll be back!!!

Size does matter. I used to LOVE the L. The new location is horrible. The décor is tacky, the staff and their ear pieces a joke. This is not LA. Not sure what they were thinking. They are located in an office building. I think that they got greedy and wanted to go bigger. In return they lost everything that made the original special. The staff was kind of lost. Food came out cold. It was good but not great. They were not ready for prime time. It is an ok place for a business lunch but not a place for a nice night out. Sad but true. May try it agin sometime but would not recommend. Your better off at John’ Café in Woodbury. My suggestion is to shut it down, redecorate, bring back the booths and some warm colors, less seating and better service.

The move to the new location has not improved the dining experience at the L. First we were sitting at a table that was right near the door which sent a draft of icy air directly at me and my husband every time the door opened. The new décor was ridiculous — gaudy, tacky, yuck… the bar was loud and distracting. The servers are required to wear earpieces and were nervous about taking a minute to speak to us(as acquaintances not as our servers) because they were being watched on camera. What? Who does that in middlebury? When your restaurant is located in a hybrid strip mall/industrial park(and not in an ironic, hipster way)? The food and wine were tasty, but the overall experience left a bad taste — but especially when compared to the overall dining experience at the old location. Needless to say, we will not be returning anytime soon. Nothing about our experience was that exceptional that will prompt us to return. It’s actually sad because this is how the few families that we know that USED to enjoy dining here feel about the«new L»… The food is okay but the overall experience was just meh. Sorry… Bring back the original(and more successful) atmosphere… Get rid of the earpieces and cameras(this is just laughable to me) and perhaps we would consider coming in again. It’s too bad, really. I would POSSIBLY consider doing takeout because the food is decent, but not in the winter because of the weird parking situation. it’s like you are going to see your accountant or doctor… just …no.
