Inconsistent at best. I understand Middlebury is out of the way, but it still seems a bit over priced for sushi and no lunch specials. And sometimes it tastes a bit too fishy. Make the trip to Burlington or maybe try the sushi at the Grille at the college. But don’t bother here.

Staff were super friendly! Very helpful waiter, I never got his name but he was super nice and accommodating and we gave him a big tip because he was great. The seating is plentiful, the restaurant is clean, the atmosphere is calm. The décor is tasteful and very Thai. We were a party of five so they took a table of four and stuck a chair at the end of it and it was perfect. Food came out reasonably quickly, I paid 13.75 for a Pad Thai with pork and a hot Thai tea. Kind of pricy but this is Middlebury, Vermont, and I should have expected as much. The price I pay for not eating at the dining hall for a dinner. Oh well, the service was great. Water was attended to often, which is so important to me because I get super thirsty whenever I eat, and I eat a lot apparently. The Pad Thai I had today wasn’t the best Pad Thai I’ve ever had but it definitely makes up for my lack of Thai food ever since having been forcibly transplanted to this state, especially since Middlebury College has such a sad excuse of Pad Thai they serve at Atwater(I’ve never been so disappointed in a private institution). The fish sauce was very present in my plate in terms of flavor, and I’m Vietnamese, so I love my fish sauce! But I hate things that are too salty which was unfortunately this Pad Thai. Salt is just not my flavor; I have a sweet tooth. It is what it is. I like my Pad Thai having a slight sweet edge to it, but that’s what I have back at home. That’s not to say the Pad Thai wasn’t edible. It was definitely tasty. I felt like it was accurately a Pad Thai and I finished that sucker up despite how salty I was feeling. And I’m coming back to try out more things from the menu because I’ll be around for four years…

Great food, love the appetizers here. I have been here with groups ranging from 2 – 15 and I have always had good service. I especially recommend lunch for the great prices on smaller portions(I can never finish the dinner portions!).

Sabai Sabai is a Thai Restaurant located in the small college town of Middlebury. The restaurant is decorated with oriental décor. The bar is located in the center of the restaurant and serves beer and wine. All of the draft beers(including Woodchuck Hard Cider) were $ 5. All of the wine by the glass range from $ 6 – 8. For drinks, I ordered a Thai Iced Tea. For appetizers, we shared an order of Egg Rolls, an order of Seaweed Salad, and two orders of Sashimi Appetizers. The Egg Rolls were technically spring rolls — three deep fried soft rice paper stuffed with seasoned shredded vegetables and served with a sweet and sour sauce. I didn’t like how peppery the vegetables were. The Seaweed Salad was served over thinly shredded cucumbers and garnished with a carrot shaped like a mohawk. The seaweed salad was delicious but a bit overpriced for the portion received. The Sashimi Appetizer consisted of 8 pieces of thinly sliced raw fish — two pieces of salmon, tuna, white fish, and white tuna. It was served with lime, wasabi, and spicy pickled white ginger. The Yellowtail Scallion Roll consisted of six pieces of yellowtail scallion wrapped in sushi rice and dried seaweed. It was also served with wasabi and spicy pickled white ginger. I liked how the raw fish was pretty fresh. For dinner, we shared the following entrees: Red Curry Stir Fry, Pad See Ew with Chicken, Garlic Shrimp, and Pineapple Fried Rice. My cousin ordered the Red Curry Stir Fry Medium Heat and she enjoyed the taste but could feel the heat. Since I can’t handle spicy food, I didn’t dare to try. The Garlic Shrimp consisted of jumbo black tiger butterfly shrimps sautéed in a garlic sauce, sprinkled with crispy garlic, garnished with cilantro, and served with mixed vegetables and broccoli. I’d say it’s the perfect dish for garlic lovers. The Pineapple Fried Rice consisted of rice cooked with chicken, shrimp, rice, egg, tomato, onion, scallions, cashew nuts, raisin, and pineapple. I didn’t like how there was a strong curry powder flavor, making it hard for me to eat it. Since my cousin never tried Mango with Sweet Sticky Rice before, that’s what we ended our meal with. The Mango with Sweet Sticky Rice consisted of a scoop of sweet sticky rice and chopped fresh mango drizzled with condensed milk and sesame seeds. It was a perfect dessert for sharing!

As good as Thai gets. All the classics are done perfectly as are the curries. Host is wonderful and engaging and service is fine. Nik’s review from 3 months ago could not possibly be describing the same place. We return whenever we visit.

Pretty great little restaurant. Food is amazing, though no matter how I ask for my curry it always comes out the same spice level, HOT. Not complaining though great food. Randomly closes so alway call before heading down. Cheers

I’m a pretty big fan of Thai food, and I can positively say this was the worst Thai food I have ever had. Not only were the tastes inauthentic and bland, the servings were cold and uninspiring. We had pad Thai, chicken rice, and coconut rice – none of which would merit repeat orders. The prices for these dishes are also way too high for the quality. It’s in a small college town so there isn’t much selection, but I’m pretty sure any of the classic American choices would be wiser than trying to get some ethnic food on a sojourn to Middlebury.

This is a nice«new» Thai restaurant for Middlebury. It fills the spot vacated by Amigo’s, a Mexican restaurant. Before that Lockwood’s Restaurant, owned and operated by Clayton Breiner, occupied the space for many, many years. We ordered five items to go for dinner: –Combination #6 as an appetizer –Spicy Basil with Seafood #32 –Sweet and Sour with Pork #37 –Pad-Kee-Mao with Chicken #74 –Pineapple Fried Rice #84 Everything was lovely, not the very best, but nevertheless quite good. The portions were modest, but that’s okay.

Best drunken noodles in Vermont and my wife’s Pad Thai was pretty tasty too. The service was fast and they have switchback on draft so I was happy as a clam. We’ll be back for more
