I stumlbed upon this little bakery a few months ago and have been regularly visiting at least once a week ever since. The pastries are good, but the breads and rolls are where this place really shines… VERY easily the best Italian bread in the area, hands down. The Sicilian style seeded twist bread has the velvety interior and the crisp exterior that this style should exhibit. it compares very favorably to the best Italian breads I’ve had from bakeries in NY(such as Reliable/VLC and others, often available at a few places in Northern NJ). As excellent as their Italian breads are, what really sold me is their Kaiser rolls! They offer the authentic Kaiser rolls that were once common in ethnic neighborhood bakeries all over NJ. It was a type of roll that became exceedingly rare once these small neighborhood shops began to disappear. The crappy kaiser rolls in the supermarkets can’t compare by a longshot.

The 3rd star is for the friendly service but the pastries could use some work. I really wanted to like this local shop too. We bought a small assortment & everything was cold as if made previously and refrigerated to prolong shelf life. We had to warm up the Danish to make more edible. Not sure I would try again when Haisch’s in South Plainfield is so close.

I’m love pastries, so when visiting family in Jersey I saw this bakery and thought I’d try it. Glad I did. I was amazed at their wide selections, but most of all their quality of pastries, especially the carrot cake and red rolls, it was the best I’ve ever tasted. It was so good I took some back for my friends and family. Everyone loved it. Now whenever I’m in Jersey I always make a detour to my favorite bakery!

We have driven past this place dozens of times. Finally stopped in yesterday. Big selection of cookies and cakes. More modest selection of pastries, bread, rolls. I tried one of their Italian breads which was OK but not special. Danish were nice. I think however we will stick with the Mediterraneo Bakery in Bound Brook as a better choice.
