Adventure Rooms Connecticut

This was a lot of fun! Went with 7 others and we did the remedy room. Got out with 10mins to spare and no clues! If you go I would recommend not over thinking some of the clues. We had a good mix of brains and everyone help in some way. I would do it again but they only have 2 options for rooms right now with a third option coming this fall.

Had a great time with my coworkers andd boyfriend trying to escape the remedy room! Would recommend another to try for a new adventure.

Lots of fun! Did the Remedy room with three others for a total of 4 adults. We were able to solved the room. Took us about 55 minutes.
It was a little confusing at first. We weren’t sure what adventure rooms was even about. We were told that it wasn’t scary at all, and if we liked puzzles, it would be fun.
The staff member was very friendly, but didn’t give us any instructions at all, aside from look around. Might be helpful for others to give a debrief of some type, especially those like us new to adventure rooms.
Aside from that, tons of fun! We definitely needed the 4 of us to put our heads together to figure everything out.
For those who didn’t get the debrief, or are planning on going… Start looking around. Split up. Poke and prod at everything. You’re looking for clues to open the next puzzle. And it’s important to do every step! If you skip one, you’re going to have to go back and do this again!

I had an amazing time here. I bought 3 tickets as a surprise for my roommates (21, 22, 29 years old), and it worked out great. The location is on the second floor of a discreet, brick building with very little signage, so he had idea what we were walking into until we were in the lobby. We have vaguely heard of escape rooms, but none of us had actually done one before. I forgot the guy’s name who worked there, but he was great at explaining everything and he seemed like he loved working there. The rooms and puzzles were very mentally stimulating. We finished with less than a minute left! This was a great experience.

We stopped at the adventure room during our vacation through Connecticut. We have done multiple escape rooms in the past but this was one of the best we have done. They had very clever puzzles and was very different. Also, the staff was awesome.

My boyfriend and I went last Monday and it was wickedly fun. We initially went for The Remedy but the staff working there recommended the Swiss challenge because my bf and I never attempted any type of adventure room challenge before. So we took her word and ended up completing the Swiss challenge with 11 or so minutes still on the timer. It wasn’t as challenging as I expected it to be but it was really fun. Room 3 had the hardest puzzles to solve out of the 3 rooms given. Im planning on going again to complete the Remedy. Would definitely recommend going with someone.

I’ve been doing puzzle rooms for over a year and I wanted to wait for the euphoria to tie down so I could write clear minded and accurate reviews. After completing over a dozen rooms with a variety of companies. I must tell my personal truth about Adventure Rooms.
First of all, let me say the experience a year ago was pretty strange. We faced the Swiss Original and completed it in under 30 minutes. Not exactly a brain burning experience. This was when I was brand new, so I can only imagine what the completion time could be today.
That left a bad taste in my mouth and I had since completed a room in that time only once. That room was amazing because it had theme and story. Adventure Rooms is just a doctors office with a bunch of puzzles. It feels like a doctors office as you move through it. The only positive hing about Adventure Rooms is the varied and innovative puzzles. Swiss Original is advertised. It lays the foundation to the wonderful hobby we have now. Does everyone need to play Pong to enjoy video games? No, and that’s how I feel with Adventure Rooms.
I was so disappointed that I have not been back in over a year to play their other games. I will check their website after having said that, but this place did not really aim to impress. No debrief, no amazing customer service, and just not a lot of pop to an expansive hobby that has a ton of options currently.
Go to Adventure Rooms if this is early in your puzzling. I just have a feeling veterans will be sorely underwhelmed.
Pros — Varied puzzles and it’s the OG puzzle room.
Cons — Lack of theme, boring overall flow, ease of difficulty, easy to hack through puzzles, and just not a whole lot of fun compared to the other rooms out there.
I’m underwhelmed, and wonder if I’ll ever be back.
QUICK Edit: Just went to the website and they have not expanded the rooms at all. Same stuff as a year ago and not bringing any of the rooms from the New Jersey location. Stagnant and strange.

We escaped!
Went here with a total of seven friends for a birthday. Puzzle-​master couldn’t have been nicer. It’s a bit difficult to find the place (we drove past it once) but once inside, we were warmly greeted as we wanted to do the Swiss Original Challenge.
We had no idea what it was like, but once we were inside, we were given instructions on how to play. And then it was off! The countdown was on. Suffice to say that there are puzzles in the room that you need to solve. No outside knowledge is really needed and you really need to use your senses more than anything else.
It was a terrific night out — we all worked together and everyone really contributed, which was fun. Each person could recall something that they helped out with. And then as the clock counted down the pressure was on. Just when we thought we had solved it, we had a few more puzzles to crack. But ultimately, we made it out with about 5 minutes to spare.
So what’s the downside? Well, once you complete it, you can’t really do it again. There’s another room to be sure, but you can’t really do the same puzzle again. Part of the joy of the room is not knowing anything and figuring out the stuff on your own.
But if you’re looking for a fun night out, this is definitely it. Just an hour of good clean American fun.
And then go out for dinner in Middletown. (We loved Mondo). A perfect way to spend a birthday.

I had a great time here this past week for my friend’s birthday party. We did a challenge and split our group of 12 into two teams that competed for getting out first. The manager/​employee was very friendly and explained the rules clearly. Both teams had the same room, but mirror imaged.
The challenge was hard! Some clues were easier than others, but some keys and locks took us forever to find. There’s a camera in each room so the manager can see what each team is doing (and ensure you’re not cheating or taking photos — easiest thing is to leave your jacket/​purse/​phone in the waiting area). At one point we really struggled with a puzzle and the manager put a clue up on our screen which eventually helped us.
We ended up finishing our challenge with 4 minutes left! The other team beat us by about 13 minutes, but we all had a lot of fun and I would definitely come back for another challenge or try other local escape puzzles like this. The cost per person was $ 30 which I think is fair? But I have nothing to compare it to.
Only downside (won’t take off a rating) is that it’s in a business complex so it’s not immediately easy to figure out where to park or which door to go into but once you’re inside there’s signage — third floor! Plenty of parking though.

Such a blast! Went with my girlfriends parents and had a really good time. We escaped with a few minutes left! Can’t wait to go back and try their other rooms.
If you’re looking for something fun to do, that doesn’t involved drinking, partying or the typical night scene, go check this place out, you won’t be disappointed.

A group of 7 of us tried Adventure Rooms out this afternoon. It was great fun, a much more interesting way to spend an hour than just chatting away at a bar. Kudos to the two employees who worked around a local power outage an hour before our reservation and a tricky computer system reboot to get the show on the road for us pretty much on time.
We tried the Swiss Original maze, based on the swiss room that started it all. Running for parties of 2 — 8, our 7 made the room feel a bit congested at times, but there’s plenty to do for everyone and enough room to get around that it was no problem. My guess is the solving of the puzzles is most efficient with 3 — 5 people, less you might run out of time, more you’ll be slowed down by tripping over people underfoot.
My only critique is that there didn’t seem to be much of a theme to the maze overall, it kinda just seemed like a series of random puzzles to overcome. Some storyline or theme might make it more immersive, however you’d have to balance that with having enough time to finish… we made it, albeit with a clue from the computer (the employees can pass clues along via computer monitor if it looks like you’re stuck), with just 11 minutes remaining in our 60 minute limit.
All in all, a fun and unique way to spend part of the afternoon. It would be great for a first date or a small birthday party group. I’m looking forward to going again to try one of the other mazes!

A unique experience — highly recommend to all. I can’t wait to do another challenge soon.

Awesome, awesome place that satisfies that urge we all have to do something different and unique. Every night you ask, what do you feel like doing tonight. Welp… I think this place is your answer. If you’re tired of wasting money at the bar or having an otherwise subpar Friday night dinner, why not try an adventure that stimulates your mind, challenges you to think outside of the box, helps you learn more about your friends and family, and creates a lasting memory that you’ll want others to experience with you. If you think you know what this place is and you haven’t been yet, I dare you to make it out in under an hour.

I thought they were kidding when I found this indeed ADVENTURE ROOM in Connecticut. Out of all places! It so happens that my brother is a sucker for those «room escape» game apps you find online or download on your mobile devices. I wouldn’t be surprised if this place was actually inspired by the game but I knew I had to take him here for his birthday. Reservations and payment are all done online. About $ 30 person. We chose the most common/​beginner «Swiss Original (Space A).» Not that Swiss means anything merely related to Switz, I mean urban dictionary defines Swiss as «extremely clever, bright person.» Who knew? Other rooms include the Swiss Original (Space B) which is basically the same layout as S.O.(Space A) but gives larger parties (8 or more) the opportunity to duel each other from both rooms. There’s also «The Remedy» room (medical theme). Before anything, I even urged my brother in the medical field to choose this room for his background knowledge in helping us escape but he chickened out! Perhaps, another time. Again, choose Swiss if you are new to Adventure Rooms.
Set at an old brick building, you might do a double take…‘am I at the right location?!’ Do not fret, the adventure is inside and awaits you! Going in, an elevator takes you up to the adventure floor. About $ 30 per person, the extremely laid back dude brings you into a small what looks like a butler’s pantry but it’s not. Note* All the puzzle rooms used to be doctor patient rooms (cabinets, sinks, electrical outlets, x-​rays still attached, not working of course) He takes 5 minutes to instruct you. Simple and easy, no pressure… yet.
Since I can’t spoil the good stuff because that is for you to find out. I will say that they give 60 minutes for you to solve 3 consecutive rooms (must solve 1^st rm to get to next, etc.) Even though, we went in as a brave brave army of 3, I think 60 minutes was plenty time. Probably will do even better with 4 – 5. More than that won’t be as fun. Congested, in my opinion. Another suggestion is THINK SIMPLE. I recommend you have an airhead wingman/​girl who won’t think too hard because you will need them at some parts. Like I was, as the youngest participant of the three, I saw things in front of us that my older siblings couldn’t see!
At least I can promise you that whether you and your companions do or do not succeed in the end. I rest assure you, a smiling bearded staff member (if you are lucky he is there) will be there big bright smile to support you in your victory or be a crying shoulder. Either way, everyone leaves laughing and the experience is all we can talk about as we exit the place.

Our family of five went here with a couple of friends and had a great time. The experience was very well-​organized and professional from start to finish, and they prepared us very well. We did the Swiss Original challenge and there was never a dull moment… with the countdown timer looming over us, we felt a constant sense of urgency. There were three rooms in all that we had to «escape,» and each one had all kinds of puzzles that needed to be figured out in different (and fun) ways.
I would say the ideal group size for the Swiss challenge would be 4 – 5. We had 7 and it got a little crowded in the rooms, with almost too many people working on the puzzles at once. But it was still a blast — and a very unique experience if you’re looking for something different to do that doesn’t take a ton of time (about an hour).

I’ve been wanting to check out an escape/​adventure room for a long time now. So when my parents said that they’d booked a reservation at Adventure Rooms, I was thrilled. The experience was seriously intense, stressful, and lots of fun. As other reviews say, it’s definitely in your best interest to go in blind — knowledge of the scenarios or puzzles will only undermine the enjoyment you get from the experience.
My family and I did The Swiss Original, and I would definitely recommend it. The puzzles were challenging, but logical. At several points, we found ourselves stumped, but as soon as we figured out a solution, it seemed perfectly clear. In my opinion, that’s the mark of a well-​designed puzzle. I will mention that, if we got stumped for too long, the staff provided little hints over the in-​room video screens. They didn’t solve the puzzles for us, but I appreciated having enough of a nudge to keep moving along and having fun.
One thing I would have liked was if the room had more of a unifying scenario. As it was, it was just a collection of unrelated puzzles that led from one to another, eventually leading the way to the exit. This was plenty of fun, but my inner geek would love an overarching scenario to provide motivation for our escape, as well as some thematic unity to the puzzles themselves. This doesn’t affect my rating, but it would be nice to see in the future, especially since I know other venues do things like this.
Overall, we had a blast at Adventure Rooms Connecticut. Although we didn’t *quite* succeed, but we had a lot of fun in the attempt, and will definitely be back to try their other room!

Came here with a group of close friends to celebrate a birthday because we wanted to do something different other than the usual dinners out. Oh my word, this place was the ticket! We were definitely engaged and entertained thoroughly. You must try it at least once. I cannot say more. Don’t cheat, don’t google it, just go.

So. Fun. I was really nervous because I wasn’t sure what to expect but as soon as we got there, the guys explained what we had to do and the rules and then we were off! I was with 3 of my friends and we all worked together to get out in 48 minutes! It was so much fun and I want to come back!!!

I had seen the great reviews on Unilocal and decided to book Adventure Rooms as part of my husband’s birthday festivities. Four of us went to do the Swiss Original puzzle on a Saturday afternoon. It’s located in a great historic mill, but they have renovated the space to suit the needs of the activity.
We were given a quick run down of some basic instructions, then set loose to go solve the puzzles. The Swiss Original was a series of puzzles spread across 3 rooms. You had to solve one room in order to move on to the next room, and have a total of one hour to solve all of the puzzles and get back out to the front desk. The puzzles were well orchestrated, challenging but not too frustrating, and so much fun! We made it out — just barely with 2 minutes to spare — and had a blast!!!
I think this would be great for team building and will definitely be suggesting it at work. If you have a bigger group they can be split and run simultaneously so that you can «duel» which I think would be fun.
I look forward to them creating more scenarios so that we can go back! Well worth the cost per person (varies by group size, for our group of 4, it was $ 30 per person). This is such a unique activity to come to Middletown!
