First class, organic, bio-dynamic wine grown in Middletown, CA. The owner is also a first class human being eager to visit with customers about his wine and the process. I just love this place! Across the street is a dark, smokey casino… AND this Vineyard is where the real treasure is!

My husband and I truly enjoyed our visit. The owner was friendly and very knowledgable in the organic wine process. His wines are fantastic and we walked away very excited to share our new wines with loved ones. The community has been deeply affected by the recent fires. Please go and show some support to them and drink some great wine in the process!

Best wine I have ever tasted. No exaggeration. I prefer organic and this gentleman has taken that to the next level being biodynamic. Other wineries should be taking notes. Easy to taste and see the integrity and skills behind this operation. Worth every penny for the purity and deliciousness of it. Flavor, smoothness, and affect on the brain wise. Beautiful environment too…

Great wine and a fun winemaker to chat with! Organic and biodynamic wines that are different than what we were used to. Will definitely be back!

A small winery in a rustic setting on the edge of Middletown. The artisan winemaker was like a character out of a Steinbeck novel, the creases of his hands stained with dirt from working outdoors. He spent a while chatting with us about how he makes organic wine. Ultimately none of the wines were to my taste to buy(my friend bought a few) but it’s always enjoyable to taste wine with someone so directly involved in the craft.

A bit off the beaten path, but definitely worth a stop! We were staying at Harbin and went to the casino to check email and voicemail. Lo and behold, across the street is a winery. We stopped in and had a delightful time with the proprieter. He is very knowledgeable about wines, specifically, his process to make organic and biodynamic wines. The wines were excellent as was the conversation in the tasting room. Don’t miss it! It’s worth a trip just past Napa!

On our way into Sonoma, we found this winery. Committed to sustainable products and having tried other biodynamic wines, we were delighted to try Beaver Creek and it was wonderful. The Syrah was full, loads of fruit on the palate. We met the owner and also talked craft brew. What a find. Now planning to join the wine club!

It’s amazing to me that the huge casino practically across from this place seems packed, but this little gem of a winery was pretty quiet. I would rather be here than the casino anyday. My fiancé and I stopped in on a whim, and had a great conversation with the owner. He was friendly and knowledgeable, and we had to force ourselves to finally leave. We really could have stayed all day, and the owner(Martin) did not make us feel like we were wasting his time even after we had bought a couple lovely bottles of wine and at that point were just loitering. The tasting room is beautiful and low key. He has some small sheep skins for sale as well, and I could have happily crawled into a pile of them. I tend to get sleepy or headaches from wine tasting, but after tasting six of his wines, I felt like I could go to the gym a couple hours later. I didn’t actually go, but I could have. The wines just seem different; it must be the sulfides. I think Martin is also experimenting a bit with beer, and we look forward to seeing what else he has up his sleeve the next time we come up there(fingers crossed for sheep cheese). It’s a great place, and there aren’t that many of them. We plan to support his organic and biodynamic practices in a delicious way. And yes, bring a picnic. Also, not much else is open on a Sunday, so if you want to experience more of Middletown as well, maybe shoot for a Saturday.

Martin and his wife were great hosts. This place is a hidden gem. The wine is organic and you can taste the purity. The place is private and away from all the packed vineyards.

Do yourself a favor and keep driving on 29. Yes, keep going… Pass Napa, Rutherford and St. Helena and drive up to Middletown. It’s Napa Valley 25 years ago(clearly I was not old enough to drink) No pretenses, friendly, quaint, great service, nice ambiance, beautiful rustic setting, and an awesome tasting. We tried 6, yes SIX wines, with generous pours for only $ 10. A lousy tasting in Napa is at least $ 20 with a big serving of snobby attitude and nouveau riche wannabes and hipsters trying to act cool wine tasting in Napa. Me likey Beaver Creek Vineyard

I can’t believe I have passed this winery so many times and only visited yesterday. The tasting room and winery are very homey and lovely, with a picnic area outside as well. The wine was amazing for organic. I tasted the Syrah and Zin. Good price for the quality and hand crafting that takes place. Excellent hospitality. The owner, Martin Pohl is fun to chat with, very hospitable and happy to explain his biodynamic, organic process. He’s a real master vintner. It’s very easy to stop by on Highway 29 just outside of Middletown. Lake County has few wineries, but boasts excellent wine. It’s worth a stop.

First class. If you want a really unique wine experience while in Northern Napa, take the drive up #29 just past Tubbs lane over towards Middletown. Its a beautiful road with some great views of Northern Napa. Beaver Creek is worth the trip!

This was a great find right off the highway. The wine was very tasty, especially the Cab and their two blends. This is a very small property and you get a tasting with the owner and operator. Don’t expect the grand Napa tasting rooms but the wine can hold their own with many of the bigger producers from the valley.

Nice selection, with an excellent Cab and Zin. The red dessert wine was also a nice find.

Martin Pohl, the owner and winemaker of Beaver Creek Winery, is a visionary and an artist. And like many artists, he is passionate and dedicated to his dream — to make the best biodynamic wines on the planet. Period. My wife and I have been Beaver Creek wine club members for almost a year, and I look forward to my quarterly club shipment with much glee. Here’s a little-known secret: A truly natural wine doesn’t give a hangover, and Martin is fiercely loyal to nature, even to the extent of using yeast from his own organic vineyard. The place is unassuming, and the prices are low considering the degree of effort that goes into a hand-made wine. But the wines are spectacular.

Beaver Creek is doing a really great thing that not many are doing. They might be a little more pricey but if you can afford it, it seems worth it. They are trying to make real wine the old fashioned way, with admirable farming practices. We stopped in for a tasting, and the part owner spent a lot of time talking to us about everything under the sun and letting us slowly go through the many selections of wine. I’d say it’s worth the stop. Although not very well known, it’s something completely different than you’ll find in the area.

i found this place because of a Groupon, so we stopped by to pick up our wine on the way home from Mendocino. It’s just a tiny little place, and there was nobody there when we first arrived, so we called the number on the door and left a message. We wandered around a bit and looked at the goats and chickens, and in a few minutes the owner arrived and opened up the tasting room. He said he was out back bottling wine. Had a nice taste of his wines, picked up our Groupon wine, and went home with some extras. The Cab and Zin are great, and it’s nice to be able to sit down and chat with the winemaker. Next time I go, I’m going to pack along a picnic lunch, as the grounds are pleasant and there are some picnic tables under the trees.

My Husband and I stopped in on a trip for our anniversary. The wine was fantastic, but the ambiance and environment was even better. It is a small place and you think you are not suppose to be there. But then you are welcomed by the owner and his wife and they are a delight. I believe they are from Czechoslovakia and a little difficult to understand as he has a very thick accent. But if you give them a few minutes they are a kick. He is VERY passionate about his wine, which is bio-dynamic. He will tell you in great detail how the animals fertilize the land for the grapes and how he works his land. You could say he really knows his shit. If you are in the area definitely worth a stop in. It is a beautiful drive in if you are coming from Calistoga.

Beaver Creek is and awesome out of the way winery on Hwy29 just accross the Lake/Napa county line. Its accross the street from the big casino and you have to press a button to get through the gate. It looks a bit run down but I think that’s because the guys running this place are busier making wine than building ostentatious tasting rooms. Anyway this organic/biodynamic winery creates some amazing zins and cabs. Bruno served up glass after glass and I think that he and his colleague were drinking/tasting more of it than we were. In any case the wine had really unique flavors that just dance in your mouth. Had a great time talking with them and learning about their process. I highly recomend a stop here and checking out this new up and coming place.
