You know, I was going 3 stars but revised it due to the respect I should have for a business like this and the love for the food they sell. Not at all blown away, some things were excellent, others very meh. We put in a take-out order of 50 bucks for the promo…really tried to mix it up to get a good idea what they do. I must say they gave us ample plates and plastic utensils, some styrofoam cups of their 3 sauces, plenty of napkins. Thumbs up. Full rack of ribs($ 20)…good smoke, served dry… doesnt seem like they«mop» their ribs… they did offer to cut them up which helped, silver skin left on but thats fine because they have to do that… however, we took them and the rib ends from the dinner plate($ 8) home to crockpot em and get them more tender. I will skip their ribs next time. Half a chicken($ 6) was superb, even better with the excellent mustard sauce. Sides: Mashed potatoes: I understand why they dont overspice the sides because the meats are the star, but gimme some better texture. Tater salad: Has some nice crunch with celery, but bland and mushy 3 bean bake: I wasn’t a fan, but my girlfriend raved about them so it’s subjective. Cole Slaw: Vinegar based, no mayo… not bad but expected a more traditional slaw. They should consider collard greens or okra instead of canned corn. Cornbread is excellent and reasonably priced, if I lived near here I would probably go there for the cornbread than anything else. I didn’t try the shredded BBQ yet, will try next time. Also, their wings sell out early, FIVEBUCKS a dozen… they aint big they tasty… again mustard sauce is key. excellent flavor from their chicken. Staff is very courteous, the young man who expedited the order was on it. You can tell people love this place mentioned our visit in conversation from some locals and they really dig it. Excellent option considering there’s no other BBQ closeby.

A couple coworkers and I decided to go to Becky’s for lunch today and I’m so glad we did! If you haven’t been before, this place does not look like a restaurant. It’s a house. Literally. Don’t be scared, you can go in. Entrance is in the back along with a few parking spots. Parking is limited but we ended up parking in the lot for the store next door, which is connected to the Becky’s parking lot. Very limited seating but there were only a few people in there and we were able to get a table no problem at 12:30/1:00 on a Friday. The prices are great. I only paid about $ 6 for a lunch plate and water. I got the pulled chicken, smashed potatoes, and cornbread. So good! Everything was delicious. They also had 3 different sauces on the table and I tried them all and loved them all. The cornbread was moist and fresh and amazing. This is a great place to grab a quick lunch. They also do catering! I’ll definitely be back to try the other bbq options.

Good BBQ at a decent price! The dining area is a little too intimate for me. It makes me feel a little claustrophobic. So we order takeout.

Drive up, take a deep breath and you’ll SMELL how good this place is! True smoked brisket, pulled and ever so flavorful without ever being too«rich». Great Corn bread, Ribs, etc. Super friendly staff. The fact that this place is right around the corner from my place of work is Very dangerous…

The ribs were very dry, and the sides were okay(cornbread, baked beans, and potato salad.) However, I am going to give this place another shot. Being an optimist, I figured that the ribs were that way due to the simple fact that I went 20 minutes before closing.

Small place. Busy on a Sunday evening — that’s always a good sign. I ordered a pulled pork plate to go with two sides. It was ready within 5 minutes of placing my order. Very good food — fresh & tasty. Very good prices. Staff were friendly and efficient. I’ll definitely go back.

Best BBQ I’ve had in RI! No frills, paper plates and plastic silverware, canned beverages and simple menu in a VERY small dinning area. Not ideal for a group or during their busy lunch hours but luckily they offer take out! My boyfriend and I each got a pulled pork lunch plate which comes with one side and corn bread. They also office BBQ chicken, pulled chicken, pulled beef(and probably more I can’t rememeber) with side options of corn, potato salad, BBQ baked beans, etc… We both got the beans and were not disappointed! The two meals and 2 sodas were under $ 14. Can’t beat it! They also have 3 sauces on all the tables which were all delicious in their own way. I highly recommend trying them out! I wonder if they cater?

Great place to eat in town. Pulled pork is better than the beef. Prices do add up after a bit so watch that. Dining room is small, better for a to go order. Everything is homemade and tastes great.

Easily the best BBQ in Rhode Island! Good food, good prices, no frills. Great for take out! BBQ Beef Brisket sandwich is a must have!

Decent BBQ. The«pulled» meats appear as though they weren’t off the fire that same day. The ribs could be great, but they keep the«silver skin» on the ribs which makes me think they are smoked and stored a day or two if they don’t sell. Please remove the silver skin prior to serving. Very sweet baked beans should almost be mixed with the very vinegar flavored coleslaw. «Smashed» potatoes lack real flavor. Throw in some salt, garlic and a touch of butter and they can become delicious. Finally(and it’s a personal preference), when I order bbq, I would love to see an offering of a homemade mac n’ cheese. If I’m skipping veggies, I want to do it right.

This is one of my favorite places when I am in town for travel. The food is consistently good. The three bean bake is my favorite side. Manage your expectations. The dining area is small and crowded as it is in a converted house but if you want good food at a good price, this is for you.

Absolutely delicious. We got takeout two ½ chicken dinners(for under $ 20) and loved it. The chicken is smokey and moist and really yummy(not drowned in sauce) — plus their side BBQ sauce(I had the sweet one) was the perfect complement. Good cole slaw, good smashed potatoes… all in all, a really good meal. Oh, and the cornbread is to die for… a wonderful find!

Mediocre at best. Barbecue sauce from a can, small portions. Expectations were high going in because of suggestions from co-workers.

Awesome place. Pulled beef was amazing. Added a little vinegar sauce and bam, it was unbeatable. I honestly couldn’t believe I found this in Rhode island. Great bbq, nice atmosphere, and cheap. Can’t wait to go back and get the pulled pork and pulled chicken.

So delicious. If you love BBQ, this is the place for you. Unimpressive from the outside, but is a local favorite and absolutely worth it.

This small BBQ place is great, prices are realistic. The pulled pork is good on its own or accessorized with their sweet thick sauce, the pulled chicken is juicy and accented perfectly with the vinegar based North Carolina sauce. I like that the cole slaw is chopped and vinegar based not mayo covered. I like the big hunk of corn bread they give you with the meals. My boyfriend is from the south so nothing in New England can compare for him, he said it needed to be smokier, and more heavily seasoned, but for northern BBQ he cleaned his plate so it must have been good. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food came out quickly and we were on our way with full bellies!

We really don’t have many BBQ options here in the ocean state so I was eager to give this one a try. Luckily we were in the area because if I had made a special trip I would have been very disappointed. It is a small place with only a few tables so don’t bring a big crowd. I ordered the pulled pork dinner and the hubby got the pulled beef dinner, save yourself a couple dollars and just get the pork because they tasted almost identical. I got the three bean bake which was good, but had an almost asian teriyaki flavor that was unexpected. The food wasn’t amazing, but it wasn’t bad either. .. just a little underwhelming I guess. Except for the cornbread! The cornbread was delicious, a big hunk of moist buttery heaven. Portion sizes were decent and the prices weren’t too steep. I probably won’t go out of my way to eat here again but if I’m in the area and hungry I wouldn’t avoid it either.

Don’t make the same mistake I did, make sure to get the pulled pork. Although the bbq chicken leg I had was good, When I tried my sister’s pulled pork sandwich I realized that I had made a mistake. This place doesn’t look like much on the outside, and it isn’t much on the inside. It has a cozy southern grandma feel to the décor.

Lunch portions were a little bit dissapointing but for around $ 5.50 I can’t REALLY complain. I’m sure the dinner portions would be more satisfying but I cannot speak from experience, YET! The Three Bean Bake is amazing. The cornbread is even more amazing. Had pulled chicken with the regular BBQ sauce. They offer three sauces, regular, spicy and a mustard blend. The spicy sauce is thin, I prefer the regular. Did not try the mustard one.

On our way down to Newport the other day we decided to stop into this place because we’d heard they earned the«best of RI» for BBQ. I hear southern Unilocalers snickering wondering what if anything it means to be the best BBQ in this tiniest of states. It was certainly an unassuming place as we pulled into the parking lot. More like a house from the outside and very tiny on the inside. We saw right away that many folks stop in here to get take-out. The take-out business was brisk throughout our visit. We found a corner table after ordering from a very friendly man at the counter. Counter ordering is never my favorite but this was doable. My husband got the pulled beef entrée that came with two sides. He chose potato salad and beans. I chose the smaller lunch option of pulled beef. The lunch portion comes with one side and I chose the smashed potatoes. Both dishes came with cornbread. Our food came out in a surprisingly short amount of time which isn’t always a good thing. What I first saw on my plate looked a bit forlorn and unappealing at first sight to be perfectly honest. However upon tasting the pulled beef, I found it to be succulent and flavorful. There are several sauces on the table. I do not believe these are house-made and they were really only just okay. I found my dish was just fine without adding any sauce which is always a good sign. The smashed potatoes were creamy and delicious. The portion size was adequate for me for lunch but for my husband, that portion would have seemed meager. He thought his pulled brisket entrée and sides were very good and the portion size was to his liking. Some of the other menu items include BBQ chicken and ribs and several other side dish options. This is a cute but no-frills kind of place; you are served on sturdy paper plates with plastic utensils. There is no liquor license. Beverage choices are slim and consist of bottled water, sodas and sweet or unsweetened iced tea. The place has maybe 6 tables and it filled up soon after our arrival right around lunchtime. Prices are very reasonable. There is a clean unisex bathroom but you have to navigate through the kitchen and down the stairs into the basement to find it making it awkward to get to. I thought this place was pretty good. I’d probably return to give it another go if I was in the neighborhood but after just the one visit, I’m not yet ready to rave.
