We dined here two weeks ago under the new chef and what a difference! Menu changes are more what I would expect from newport Vineyards. More farm to table items and everything we ordered was exceptionally prepared and presented. Kudos to chef Andy Texeira.

Food was excellent and outside seating on a beautiful day is great. Loved the Wellfleet oysters! I would go here again when I am back at the cape.

The new member of the team, Chef Texiera, has made all the difference! The flavors and presentation were wonderful, with an interssting menu of selections. The duck dishes and clams were so delicious! The upcoming plan for local sourcing will be great for Aquidneck Island and Brix customers. Bravo!

It pains me to complain, because I love Brix and have been going there once a week since it opened. But clearly whoever made the cost-saving decision to change the martini glasses is not a martini drinker. Please just increase the price or at least get smaller size traditional martini glasses — not those wimpy looking stem glasses you have introduced. So disappointed…

Great atmosphere. Our server was sweet and personable. Efficient and accommodating. We asked her for food and wine choices. Asked her to surprise us on a wine pairing. Terrific. We ate off the Restaurant Week menu. Food was delicious. Recommended

2nd time at Brix and an ok meal. I first visited in October 2015 after running a half marathon and had a burger. It was great, service was great and wine was flowing. Last week I visited and had the winter special of meal with dinner for $ 29.95. I had the pork chops and it was 1 pork chop and it was ok. The dish was listed as having Brussels sprouts but it was actually just the leaves of probably 1 Brussels sprout and some pineapple chunks on the plate. I wanted to get the short rib but 2 friends of mine had already advised me that it wasnt great. My friend did get the Stuffed Sole and i tried a bite and should have gotten that. I will be back soon to try it! it looked really good and tasty. The great white is my favorite of their wines. We were a group of 20 women meeting for a meetup dinner and the waitress advised that only 10 checks could be provided so we broke up into groups of 2. However, when the check arrived — we only received one.

First, there’s a $ 29 deal on Wednesday and Thursday — soup/salad, entrée of your choice, and a glass of wine. Score! I had the kale salad(others were jealous!), the seafood stew, and cabernet franc. So delicious — and the portion large enough that I had seafood stew for dinner the next night too. I love the rustic vibe of the dining room — and the ability to look down onto the winemaking floor. The fireplace and the couches in front are a great retreat on a cold winter night. Our server was friendly and fun — and made great wine pairing recommendations for all that we ordered. I would easily, easily go back — as there were other items on the menu that I’ll look forward to trying next.

Over all I like Brix but it needs some work living up to its appearance. I’ll start with the pros, but please read on for the cons… My favorite aspect is not their food, or the Newport Vineyard wine they serve… it’s the atmosphere. Rustic, charming, warm, inviting and elegant but not at all pretentious. High ceilings with dark wooden beams, eclectic lighting fixtures, a beautiful fireplace and leather sofa sitting area and windows over looking the winery. While we did have one waitress who left something to be desired in the 4+ times I’ve been there, overall the service is top notch. The servers have been very attentive and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and answer any question/request you may have. Another plus… in the winter(at least in January and February) they offer a Winter Warmer menu for $ 29.95 which includes any soup or salad on their menu(not just a plain house or Cesar!), any entrée(steak entrée is +$ 5) and a glass of wine or draft beer. Quite a deal when a couple of their salads are $ 12 each! I personally tend not to order a salad before dinner, especially if they’re $ 8-$ 12, but man were they good! I got the Beet + Arugula Salad and my boyfriend got the Vintner’s Field Green Salad. Perfectly dressed and seasoned… YUM! Now for some negatives… With the winter warmer menu, following my awesome salad I got the Allagash White Ale Braised Short Ribs. It was good… but not great and the beef was very obviously pot roast… not at all short ribs. It was tender and tasty and I can understand trying to cut costs, especially with the special they’re running but I personally find it insulting to think I wouldn’t notice the swap and it’s false advertising. It was also served with acorn squash disc which was aesthetically pleasing, but it was almost all skin and only a few bites were edible. That same week we went back after an event at the winery I got the Duck Confit Pizza and there was a BONE in it. I was understanding and brought it up to the waitress thinking they’d either bring me a new dish, comp the pizza, or at least offer a drink or dessert on the house… nope. She just seemed flustered and apologized and walked away. In my opinion a duck bone on a pizza is a pretty dangerous thing and thankfully I did not swallow it. Overall, for an establishment that seems to want to be upscale and for the prices they charge… they’re falling short. It’s worth checking out, if only for a few drinks and the atmosphere, but don’t expect a fine dining experience like I feel they are trying to sell.

We had a nice time at Brix for dinner. On Wednesday and Thursday they have a deal for $ 30: soup or salad, a glass of wine and an entrée. The restaurant is beautiful, we love the fireplace! The food was pretty good. My boyfriend and I both ordered chicken entrées and enjoyed them. Their tomatoes soup with fennel was especially fantastic!

We went to the Newport Vineyards WINEterfest on 2÷13÷16 and had a reservation for dinner at Brix after. The restaurant ambiance and décor is nice but the service was plain bad and the food was just ok. Our party of 4 was seated promptly. A waitress came over about 10 min after we were seated. Everyone ordered their drinks. I asked for a suggestion between 2 cocktails. She steered me towards their sangria. Another 10 minutes to get our drinks. The sangria was awful. It was their seasonal and she highlighted the cinnamon and clove favors. It tasted like I licked a Glade air freshener. The waitress returned 10 minutes later. I asked for a glass of wine. Another 10 minutes to get that. When she brought the wine she asked if I liked the sangria. I told her it was potent and something was definitely wrong with it. She told me that the bartender didn’t put orange juice or club soda in it and it was just the mix. So, why was it served to me? We had the duck pizza as an appetizer. It was ok. Nothing spectacular. I had the pork chop. I had my meal for a solid 5 minutes with no knife. Pork chop was good the Portsmouth potatoes that accompanied it were plain, not seasoned and eh. That night there was a special prix fixe menu for Valentine’s Day weekend. One of the diners with us asked the waitress to order the dessert on the prix fixe menu. The waitress said they didn’t have it. The diner motioned to the table next to us and said they’re eating it. She told us we couldn’t order it because we didn’t order off that menu. It just seemed ridiculous. The restaurant was barely half full, not at all busy and the waitress didn’t even inquire to see if it was possible. We likely won’t be back. The mediocre food and less than stellar service wastes this beautiful location/space.

Cool spot, pretty good food. But I did witness the manager treating her employees poorly/borderline bullying. Really not cool, and for this reason I won’t be returning. Kind of a shame. Clean the house of the troublesome and maybe I’d return.

Nice place. Still very new and showing some signs of smoothing out some of the startup bumps. Outside of service that could have been running faster(a 2 ½ hour dinner) the food was really quite amazing. Everyone at our large for 8 left very satisfied and I even was able to finish dinner with an ice wine — something I rarely see on the menu during my domestic travels.

Ok maybe one of the best places I’ve ever been to. It’s right outside of Newport, Rhode Island and its well worth it. ***And if you go to the wine tasting that day for $ 15 which includes a free wine glass and five wines from a list of 30 you get HALFOFF the price appetizers at dinner!(All of which were about $ 12 or $ 13 to begin with) Pictures I’m posting 1. Short ribs –marinated for two weeks 2. Portuguese sea food stew 3. Tuna tar tar with these rice cups 4. Fried oysters 5. Mussels app HUGE!!! Could be a dinner We also were over looking the vineyard and the barrels of wine in our particular seats. Prices were amazing it was me and my mom and sister and the bill came to $ 108 and that included one glass of wine. My sister and I brought our wine from the bar we sat at before seated. Ambiance: light and airy lodge, tall ceilings and updated rustic leather feel Tip: make a reservation and make one viewing the vineyard/barrels(it’s a high top table) Staff: very good and friendly.

This spot doesn’t seem to have its identity figured out. The setting is great, very open and right above the winery. I just couldn’t get past how poor the service was. I’m not sure if it was just lack of training or laziness. As we were walking to be seated, the hostess literally took forever to find our table, we almost sat down twice at different tables because we thought that’s where she was planning to seat us. I can’t explain how baffling this was. Then as we were finally seated, our waitress didn’t introduce herself and we had to ask for the specials, which she found on a crumpled up piece of paper in her pocket, when we placed our orders. On the bright side, the wine is great but the food was okay. Don’t really think this place holds its own as a higher end restaurant based on my experience, especially in an area where you can find much better.

Brix, in theory, is an amazing idea. It is part of a beautiful, well known winery. It is halfway to Newport– for those of us from the other end of the island that want good food, a fun atmosphere, but without the whole ‘Newport ’ thing to avoid the tourists. The atmosphere is welcoming, warm, spacious, and has seating at high tops for more casual dining, but it also has formal dining. It has a massive bar, and would serve as an awesome spot to watch a game, or just catch up over some great drinks. The bar overlooks the distilling area of the winery, which I think is a unique and artistic touch. It had a very chic and cool vibe. While I understand that it is a nice restaurant, and should be, especially given its combination with the Winery, I felt that the prices were far too high for not being downtown. The food was good, with appealing options, but it wasn’t great. We got scallops, 2 orders of fish, 1 burger, and a dessert, and nothing had a «wow» factor. Yes, the food was good and appetizing, but it wasn’t worth the money. Because Brix is so close, I want to like it, and I want to succeed! Being attached to the winery is a huge benefit, and I think it is necessary. It is an excellent spot to grab some drinks, and perhaps have some apps at the bar.

Great new restaurant for the locals who don’t like to go downtown Newport. Great atmosphere, great meal, great wines, and plenty of beers to choose from. The service was fabulous. Lots of vineyard wines to choose from, but they offer a taster flight. Only negatives were: don’t allow reservations on Open Table for party of 6; first time we went were placed at a high top table in bar area despite reservation and early dinner. When we called for reservation for 6, were required to give a credit card. Not a typical practice and one they shouldn’t continue. I would go back again… even if just for a glass of wine near the fire.
