It’s a Denny’s, kinda run down and dinerish — but quick and friendly service. Open late night as well.

this Denny’s puts all other Denny’s to SHAME. with friendly staff, speedy service, quality made food, and a clean environment, clearly this Denny’s is run very well and efficiently(in comparison to others nearby). I would travel the extra 20 miles from the Denny’s in Westbrook to come here without hesitation!

I love the service here and the food is cheap, but fantastic. Had a great waitress today for a large party.

This place is AWSOME My kids and I came her for a quick lunch after visiting Wild Bills Nostalga shop! Although they don’t normally sing Happy Birthday to kids, it was my sons 11th birthday and 3 of the waitresses sang to him. I know this is a chain but they made my son feel special.

I was in the need for a great cup of coffee. Their pour [which is their own brand] is the best coffee in Middletown. Not too acid-driven, not too strong, not too weak, not tasting like the grinds of yesterday. This Goldilocks finds their own brew, yummy. NOTCHEAP for the cup, but as I sat and had a breakfast plate, Ray was congenial and happy to refill it. I’m not certain why my waitress seemed tentative when I asked for the 3rd half cup. LOL. As for the egg plate. Mediocre. Sunnyside eggs with runny white surrounding the yolk. Never a good thing. The toasted English muffin was fine but overslathered with butter. STATINS anyone? The bacon was thin & crispy [which is what I like]. I know certain diners offer truly fine SLAB slices of bacon but generally the sodium level of each of those is off the charts. All in all, a nice diner type experience. My first in Middletown. Middletown has many coffee places. One spot on the Main strip offers all sorts of flavored coffees, bagels. Frankly, I found that coffee not terribly good. And ‘espresso’ type cafes are great in the area if you can tolerate coffee that will put hair on the inside of your esophagus. So DENNY’s was a specially good find. A good morning spot! What a surprise.

Good food and fair prices. I like that you make your own breakfast slam, I wish IHOP would do that.

Came here and there were bugs and flies everywhere! I gave it another chance and went back a second time but nothing had changed. I told the manager but he just shrugged it off. I won’t be back.

Writing on behalf of my Internet illiterate elderly father who is 69 years old. He’s been going to this dennys for a little over 10 years ! The cooks know him, and what’s shocking is the owner Sam has known him the entire time he’s been a loyal customer to him. The owner Sam recently came at my father yelling at him, making a scene, all due to his waiter mis communicating how my father actually acted once he got his incorrect meal. He simply set it to the side and asked for it correct. Within minutes same came scolding my father saying he won’t be welcomed in his restaurant. This was obviously completely uncalled for, my only reasoning for why this happened is to assume Sam had a really rough night and unfortunately took it out at an easy target, my father. No apology has been given and we won’t be going there ever again. The diner has a lot fresher foods, better and more efficient service, cleaner facilities, and you certainly get more for your $ in there. This dennys will most likely be shut down soon.

By far the best Denny’s I’ve ever been to. The staff really makes it special here, 90% of the waiters and waitresses are wonderful. The foods good, usually comes out fast, and is very affordable with a 2468 $ value menu that will pleasantly surprise you. Give Denny’s of Middletown a chance. You might be surprised that the service is wayyyy better than what I’ve experienced at similar chain restaurants such as Friendlys in Cromwell or IHOP in Wallingford.

There is nothing especially great about this Dennys. It’s close to my location, and a go to diner for me. It’s Denny’s. I don’t know what people would be expecting… I must say though, I do enjoy their food. Hence, why I have gone so often. However, writing a review for Denny’s is kind of strange just like writing a review for any chain restaurant. It’s not going to have exciting an unique flavors. But their food is going to be good-decent, and I’ve never personally had a problem with their service.

Okay, now when I go to a Denny’s, do I expect fabulous food? HECK no. But I do expect well-priced food at a very cheap cost. In the past, I’ve had«Meh» experiences with Denny’s, but I keep returning mainly because it’s a comfortable place to take my kid(cheap as well). I have noticed recently that they have improved in many ways and my most recent visit is the reason I’m writing a review today. My daughter turned three on Saturday(8⁄10) and she wanted to go because she loves mac and cheese, with yogurt and the ability to sit and color while she waits for her food. I know it seems like a common thing in a lot of restaurants, but it is what she wanted to do. When I told them it was her birthday, the waitress and the manager on duty really went out of their way to make our food arrive FAST and make her feel special. Her mac and cheese comes out meh. It’s obviously reheated in a microwave, but the quality didn’t matter because they made her feel special. The last few times I’ve gone, they’ve hired some VERY polite waitresses and made sure I continuously got my free refills, in a to-go-cup if necessary. Food always arrives quickly and I always see some«regulars» who joke around with the waitstaff, so it’s always a friendly environment for me. Since I saw a lot of negative reviews(which I do believe are fair for their respective dates), I have noticed an improvement in their waitstaff and I hope they read this and improve their food as well.

Your experience here definitely depends on who you have as a server. Whenever we are seated with Raed, the service is flawless, the food comes out quickly, and everything arrives as it was ordered. Unfortunately, on our most recent trip on 7÷4÷13, we were seated in Pat’s section. Pat seems equally overwhelmed whether there are 200 customers in the restaurant, or 10. We ordered the patriotic red, white and blue pancake puppies to start and it took about 15 minutes for them to come out and they were chewy and overcooked(or maybe just sat around too long before being brought to our table). I assume that Pat doesn’t understand the phrase«to start» as the entrees came right on the tail of the pancake puppies. That is quite possibly my biggest restaurant pet peeve. In most cases, I actually order an appetizer and«pretend» to not know what I want for the main course to force the space between appetizer and man course. We did that here but our plan was foiled by Pat, the incompetent waitress. My husband’s order was incomplete, Pat noted that the pancakes weren’t done yet. He finished the food he was brought and we were basically twiddling our thumbs while Pat bussed tables and wandered around aimlessly. I flagged her down and asked about the pancakes and it was clear she had completely forgotten. She ran to get them, never offered coffee refills and generally secured herself the exact 15% tip. I won’t ever forego a tip since it is in bad taste… but servers can get 30% or more with me if they do a good job. That will probably never be the case for Pat. If Denny’s wants to be «America’s Diner», I think they need to work on service a little bit. I don’t expect the food to be 5 star, but I think timing so that the whole meal can come out together should be pretty easy for line cooks who do this all day long. We will go again but definitely ask to sit in Raed’s section when he is there, and avoid Pat at all costs!!!

For starters it’s a chain restaurant. The service sucked. I was with seven other people and we all got our food served at different times and by different people, even though we were the only ones there. Someone even served my boyfriend while he was on his cell phone. They didn’t have a lot of menu items and skimped out on bacon in their maple bacon sundaes, which the waitress said was to not overpower the flavor and give us bellyaches(aka they had no more bacon). Definitely wont go back.

What can we say about Denny’s? Let us start with the fact that the only reason The Middletown Dining Club was here in the first place was to get the promotional«Hobbit» items. But looking past that, this restaurant is definitely priced to eat. Let’s look at the special menu. The options are nearly limitless with over 5000 ways to order a hobbit slam. If you want to get the trading cards, and let’s be real, who doesn’t, your best bet is definitely breakfast food. If your true desire is something like«The Ring Burger,» a burger flame broiled in the fires of mount doom, this is not. However, the Bilbo Berry Smoothy was«awesome,» says another member of the club. Beyond the hobbit experience, the Denny’s is pretty much what you would expect. Family friendly, etc, etc. A safe option for breakfast or late night eating. Sincerely yours, The MDC

Yuk! Yuk, yuk, yuk, yuk, YUK! The eggs tasted horrible! That’s what I go to Denny’s for! The rest of the food was mediocre, but edible. I find that the Denny’s in Southington, CT is better quality. When you’re a franchise, that only means you get to use the corporate name and you have to use their ingredients. Too bad corporate doesn’t supply a good chef, too…

Chain restaurant, not much else to say. Mediocre service, mediocre food, mediocre prices… Coffee was decent.
