Food is so-so. New to the area and was looking for good Mexican food. I’d rather drive to Monroe to have Tulcingos

This is a hidden gem! I’ve become a big fan of Dos Amigos. The food & drinks are really good, service is quick, and the price is just right! A great place to grab a quick dinner before seeing a movie at the Fair Oaks Drive-In practically across the street.

Past this place a thousand times and finally stopped for dinner. Friendly atmosphere, great food and fast service. The steak was very tender and the chimichangas were wonderful. Weren’t sitting for 3 minutes before we had water and salsa with chips. The staff was very attentive. Can’t wait to try it again

The décor will take you back to Mexico and is pretty clean throughout. The chips and salsa are fantastic. Margaritas are all delicious. Beans and rice tasty and cooked well. Overall our group were all satisfied with their entrees. Bathrooms are clean as well. I would pass on the flautas and go for the tacos, enchiladas, chili Rellenos

I don’t come these parts much and really wanted something to eat and found this place on Unilocal.Figured what I had to lose and checked it. So glad I did. It wasn’t far from where I was staying so that was a huge plus not having to go into Middletown. The staff was friendly and the food was good and the prices were more than reasonable. I had the enchiladas entrée. The portion was perfect. I will def have to go back when I am in area.

Looks can be deceiving. This building is a total eyesore but once inside, your taste buds and belly will love you. We were warmly greeted by our server in their«bar» area. There’s a tiny section at the entrance that seats about 8 people at the bar with a few tiny tables. The main dining room is also tiny but tables are spaced efficiently. We ordered drinks and an appitizer(the guacamole) Drinks came fast and the guacamole followed. I’m obsessed with all things avocado. Theirs is tasty and fresh. I’m not a fan of the tortilla bowl. It created a soggy salty mess on the bottom. Main dishes were ordered. The server was a middle aged man who was very pleasant and friendly. I really appreciated his attentiveness. I scarfed down, yes SCARFED, my chimichangas. They weren’t topped with cheese or a red sauce as I’ve had at other Mexican establishments so I added some of the table salsa. Oh LORT, they were delicious. 3 of them were filling but I easily could have ate another 2 just out pure glutton. The server offered us Tequila but we had our son with us so we had to pass but the gesture was spot on. I mean WHO offers anything nowadays even as a tasting?! Love it! My inner Mexican will be back here to scarf down more guacamole and delicacies. 4 stars for the smokey dining room from the kitchen and menu that wasn’t transparent or 100% clear on what we were ordering.

We find this place thru Unilocal and decided to try it. And with the previous reviews we expected more. The complimentary chips and salsa was really good. For our appetizer we ordered tamales($ 5) not bad but not good either. For our main dish, my husband got a California burrito and I got tongue tacos. Again, not bad but not what we were expecting for the good reviews this place have. Desert I got flan… I am sad to say but it’s been the worst flan I have ever had. For drink, I got the house mango margarita and I was soooo disappointed… They use a fake mango syrup that tasted horrible. My husband got a coke and we thought it was refillable(came in a glass full of ice, so hardly any soda) but when the bill came, we found out they charge for the 3 he had. As an overall, is not terrible but we are not coming back. Price is not bad but for less and better Mexican food, we prefer pudgy’s in Pine Bush.

After waiting a couple of years for the vacant building to be filled, I was excited to find out it was going to be Mexican food! How disappointed I was when the food turned out just like every other Mexican place in the area– same old same old. Refried beans, yellow rice, enchiladas, blah blah blah. I ordered the chicken mole Oaxaca style, which isn’t found on too many Mexican menus. I got two thin slabs of over cooked, rubbery white meat chicken, sauce that was not terrible and of course the refried bean/yellow rice standby. Ho hum. They did a great job with refurbishing the building, authentic Mexican murals inside, and the Margaritas were pretty good. Service was also good. It’s close by and for a quick Mexican food fix it will do in a pinch, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it. There are better that are worth a little ride.

There have been many restaurants in this location. Good food, timely, pleasant service and great value are what has made Dos Amigos successful. Our family always enjoys the food here & pleasing my three kids can be tough. I can definitely recommend the chimichangas — the molé sauce is excellent. The carne asada is also very good, well seasoned and the standard rice and refried beans are top notch. The menu is full of standard fare so you’re sure to find something you’ll like. Interior décor is simple and colorful, with Mexican murals. The bar up front has a number of tables for two and there’s also a little ante room in the back if you have a crowd. This one’s definitely my preferred Mexican restaurant in the Middletown area and I recommend it without reservation.

A lot of good food for not a lot of money, my favorite combo. First off, the complementary chips and salsa are addictive. The chips alone were perfect, fresh and crispy. The salsa was mild but flavorful. I ordered a chicken tamale appetizer($ 5) which by itself could have been a lunch for two. The tamales were big, filled with nice big pieces of shredded chicken(white and dark meat), and covered in cheese, lettuce, red sauce, and sour cream. For entrees we both had chicken enchiladas, one rancheras style(red sauce), the other suizas style(green, tomatillo sauce). I liked both but I think the suizas style went best with the chicken. Again, their shredded chicken was good quality. Each entrée had a side of refried beans, rice, and a salad with a vinaigrette dressing. The rice and beans were good, not too salty. Everything appeared to be made in house from scratch. The bar area has two TVs so I had a good view of the Jets game.

You will likely never go here, until it is featured on an episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. It’s actually pretty darn good. The décor feels like you are in Mexico at your aunt’s table. Faux crystal goblets for water, polyester blend napkins, bright décor, dimly lit. Good portions. We had the fiesta grande $ 17 — chimichanga, nachos, guac and sour cream. It was pretty good, albeit all fried and covered which cheese. For example on this platter, the nachos are individually slathered in refried beans and then topped with cheese and broiled. So, every chip is a winner. The tomatillo salsa is fresh, homemade and spicy. The regular salsa that comes with the chips, is bland, watery but still fresh. The ceviche with crab and shrimp in an avocado shell was delicious for $ 10. And, when spilling out my avocado shell I discovered no avocado, the server quickly sent me out a whole avocado, which I promptly turned into guacamole since my ceviche was almost done. The margarita’s are strong and served in those really fun, wide mouthed, oversized champagne cup looking glasses. $ 7. And, the service while imperfect was so genuinely caring that the little bit of frenzy became a happy buzz. Oh, and the music wasn’t too loud either. Love this place. Will go back if I ever need Mexican in the middle of nowhere.

Sooo good. Had the make your own combo, tamale, chimichanga and burrito as well as side of guacamole. Staff was very friendly, soccer game was on, food was great, can’t go wrong w a corona. Hot sauce wasnt as good as I had expected it would be but considering everything else was fantastic who cares

We had a Spectacular event a Dos Amigos tonight, it was my wife Beverly’s Birthday. The girls from her office threw her a bash, and as always Jose, his wife and the rest of the staff were very accommodating to our group. And let me tell you we were the noisiest crowd. I’m sure we disturbed the rest of the clientele but the staff still made everyone feel at home. Gracias Jose, es un placel estar en tan buenas Mano. Mui Agradecido, Willie

This was our second time here in the past two weeks, and both times the food was excellent. Had the California burrito the first time and a combo plate on our second trip. The food was fresh, hot, and excellent. Best of all are the prices — combination plates are in the $ 10 to $ 12 range, while specialties are a little more. Also, this is one of the few mexican restaurants where I can find Pacifico beer. One other observation — the help were always obsessively cleaning and scrubbing when not serving– a very good sign in a restaurant.

Welcome new addition. Reasonably priced, tasty food(and excellent Margaritas!) Both my wife and I had a combination dinner. You can choose any three of Burrito, Chile Relleno, Chimichanga, Enchilada, Flauta, Taco, Tamale. We tried the Burrito, Chile Relleno, Chimichanga, Enchilada, and opted for a mix of chicken and shredded beef. All excellent. Warm chips and salsa came out promptly. The place was jammed on a Friday night and the kitchen was backed up, but the staff was pleasant and communicated well. Went on a friend’s recommendation. Met other friends while there and they have been there three times — so word of mouth is good and says they are consistent. Definitely will be going back.
