Have always gone to Fortune Wok since it’s so close to home. Will not be going back!!! Called in an order of pork mei fun… was told 10 minutes — sounds good! Show up 10 minutes later and tell them what I’m picking up and she says«you mean shrimp mei fun?»…nope, I ordered pork. She proceeds to tell me it will be a few more minutes and then GOESOFF on the little girl sitting in the back playing her iPad. Of course I have no idea what she is saying but she is screaming and yelling at this child(I’m guessing she took my order and got it wrong). I actually turned to the guy waiting next to me and said«I wish I liked shrimp because I would take it just to spare this child getting screamed at». After an additional 5 – 6 minutes it’s ready… in the mean time the little girl that was screamed at is now in the restroom at the back of the restaurant crying hysterically. Seriously — who treats a child this way for an innocent mistake. I could care less about the additional wait but will not go back after they way they treated this child. They had no business«putting her to work» anyway and should just graciously accept that miscommunication happen and you move on.

I order delivery from Fortune Wok through grub hub about once a week. Delivery is always prompt, never more than 45 minutes. The food is standard American Chinese, but definitely good. Crab Rangoon and vegetarian options are delicious. In fact, they have given me free egg rolls on multiple occasions! The minimum for delivery is only $ 12, not bad at all. Would definitely recommend!

I don’t think I have written so many updates for a business before. I usually only update if I feel service or other factors have diminished. For Fortune Wok, that is an exception. Aside from the one bad experience I had with Fortune Wok(refer to the review from February 2014), this restaurant is my go to place when I get my cravings for Chinese food, and is the closest location for me. I have tried other locations in the Middletown/Cromwell area, but came back to Fortune Wok each time. Service is very good most of the time. Very rarely the service is bad, I would think it might be the mood of the employees that day. I have called in my order, used the online ordering, walk in ordering/take out and delivery. I found that online ordering is ideal if you are paying with a debit/credit card and having your food delivered. I have tried to give my credit card info to them over the phone… let’s just say it did not work out well. Regardless, service is friendly and professional almost all the time. The food is typical for Chinese takeout. I usually order sweet and sour pork, but have tried other dishes in the past few months. The sesame chicken has a good amount of spice to it, and the beef and broccoli is pretty good with the right amount of sauce. When I do get their sweet and sour pork, the pieces are perfectly fried and not greasy as some other places. I did order the shrimp toasts once and they were way too greasy that I ended up throwing them out. I do find their food to be a bit bland sometimes, but it’s nothing that a little bit of salt can’t fix. Everyone’s tastes are different, so some might find their food to be perfectly seasoned and tasty. I’d rather it be a bit bland than to be overbearing and salty, so that I can adjust it to my liking. A good place for Chinese food cravings if distance and time are the deciding factors. Pretty good service and delivery is very quick.

Despite some negative reviews before mine, I thought the food was good. While it’s not the best Chinese I’ve ever had, it was definitely satisfying. Been craving Chinese for a while now and I work across the street. So after work I ordered it, went home and ate it. It got the job done and prices were average, no sticker shock there. Good portions too. Got General Tso’s chicken, sweet & sour chicken, teriyaki beef, and crab rangoon. The girl who took my order was polite and nice as well. Good stuff. 3 stars for average/satisfied.

I dont know why people put one star for delivery problems. Get off your butt and walk or drive down there. If you haven’t tried the food, dont do a review. It’s Chinese food not fast food. I’ve lived in Middletown for 15 years, and I go here all the time. Yes maybe some people get smaller servings, but you dont have to rate them down for that reason. The economy is bad and getting worse. The food is good, the food is simple. I know them and speak to them personally everytime! I’m not even asian, I’m a white polish girl from Poland. I will continue ordering from them. I like their simple ethics and simple good food that fills you up. Exspecially the fried general tsao’s bean curd. I also really like the crab rangoon, egg foo young and moo shi.

I have had my share of Chinese Food over these many years, I’m 51. Now I ordered the Fried Dumplings, they arrived in a compact greasy container. then I tried the Boneless BBQ spareribs(only a pint, thank god) they arrived mostly grisle or crunchy. Then the Crab-meat Rangoon’s, they were ok, but Fortune Wok could do better than reducing the amount of Rangoon and increase the size(they are small @12, my suggestion, do 6 – 8 and they could be more than ½ a bite size), Now for the main course. Orange Flavored Chicken, they packed at least 23 ounces into a pint container. and the chicken pieces were over cooked, it was like after you finished it, it felt like a cannonball in your stomach. Plus even though it is a spicy dish, there were Way Too many peppers in the mix. Then to make it Orange flavored, instead of cooking it in orange flavoring, they send along with the order a container of orange sauce, which even if you pour it on, it doesn’t taste right(Orange Chicken, its not. Orange Covered Crunchy Stuff would be more apropos Suffice to say, I may give them another chance to see if they take these revews to heart, otherwise, Ill go back to my old Chines place. There is one bright side of this order, the only thing that was pretty good were the FREE eggrolls.

Have had delivery and and we have picked up orders many times. We have always had a great meal. I like their crab rangoons better than most other places. Was very surprised to see the bad reviews. When we moved to the Middletown area we tried a few other Chinese take out places and this has been our«go to» spot ever since. It’s worth a try to see for yourself!!!

The food is terrible. It made me Sick. The prices are so expensive. Also the delivery driver is rude and demanding. He banged on door 20 times in 1 min. It took me flight of stairs to get there. And he yelled the total and demanded the money ASAP. I will not be going there.

Decent chinese takeout food, you get what you pay for, takes a long time to get the food though.

These people are horrible. I called to make sure they had room and lady that answered didn’t speak English and HUNGUPONME! Than I called a second time, thinking we could get take out instead, same person picked up and hung up again. We ended up going somewhere else to eat.

Adequate. I decided to dine in for a lunch special midweek while waiting for my tires to be fixed. I ordered a garlic spicy chicken dish(forgot the exact name) and hot and sour soup. It was cooked quickly, which almost all Chinese fast food restaurants can do especially when not busy. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t tasty enough to be memorable or make me want to go back. If you live close by and don’t feel like driving it’s an OK option but it’s certainly not worth going out of your way for. Again, adequate.

No frills low price chinese food. Dining area is dingy and workers in the kitchen fly about like they drank too much coffee. Expect mediocre food. They do get orders out fast. Bön appetite!

Hot & Sour Soup was the nastiest I’ve had yet. Completely inedible. Huge chunks of everything, nothing was bite-size or even cut up. Streaks of visible cornstarch running through it, just disgusting. Delivery driver didn’t follow instructions to come to the right door and banged on the door about 50 times in the 30 seconds it took me to hear him knocking and get down 2 flights of stairs. Calm down dude

Easily the worst take-out I’ve ever eaten. The fried rice was covered in a dark dusty coating, and it smelled like the oil had turned. The rest of the food was also tasteless and greasy, and sickeningly old-smelling… I didn’t finish my order. Oh, and they are overpriced too. I suggest Feng’s Place on Main St for fresher food. I’m not against having take-out by any means, but this was ridiculous.

I can’t even count the number of times that I ordered from Fortune Wok especially during finals week or when it gets too cold to leave the house or work to eat. They have the best take-out in my opinion in the area and the best service. Once, they sent me the wrong dumplings, i called them and they were immediately at my office again with the correct order. I really appreciated it! Incidences like that are what really set places apart for me.
