Very fresh and lots of flavor! Been wanting to stop by for a long time and decided to pop in for an early dinner. Yummy! We split the Queso carne, shrimp cocktail, chicken soup with avocado, lime, cilantro and rice. All sooooo good! Can’t wait to come back again!!! Oh, the servers were so friendly! Cozy little place!

This place has excellent food and excellent people. This is definitely one of the bests restaurants in Middletown — and it is almost always packed. We go here often. My son had a slight allergic reaction to something in the mole and the owner not only made him a whole new dish for free, he also refused to let us pay at the end of the meal. Now, that is how one should do business in my opinion.

Thanks to recommendations from Scotty and Jose at Langtry, we stopped at La Parrilla. We found it was a popular place with families as well as solo diners on a week night. We had to wait a short while for a table to be cleared. Plenty of tables outside but it was too chilly to eat outside. Very cheery atmosphere and friendly, efficient service. For me, the food missed its mark on a couple of items. The chips were«okay» but not the kind that I couldn’t stop eating.(So maybe that is a good thing!) Also the black beans were refried style, more like a pudding. Fortunately they were served in a separate dish and not on the plate with the entrée and rice. An artistic touch with the rice was that it was«molded» in the shape of a pyramid. My Chile Verde was flavorful with a very generous serving of tender pork. Could not finish it and unfortunately was not in a position for a «to go» box. DH wanted to try something new and went with the server’s suggestion of the Michoacanas which he enjoyed a lot. If we are in the Middletown area again, we will certainly consider stopping at La Parrilla.

This is my very favorite restaurant. I almost always get the taco salad because I’m dieting! It’s so fresh & so delicious! However, everything is so amazingly good you can’t go wrong. The Owners are incredibly wonderful people & I can’t say enough nice things about their restaurant!

I moved to the area 9 months ago and FINALLY I found a restaurant in Lake County that I can recommend and take out-of-town guests and friends to. Fresh ingredients, original and so flavorful recipes, some of the best Mexican food I’ve every eaten. Service was great, my waitress clearly knew she was serving delicious food and she was riding high on its coattails.

This is the best Mexican food I have ever eaten! The grilled shrimp burritos are huge and stuffed full. I can never eat a whole one, in one sitting. The camarones al mojo de ajo is to die for! I probably eat here 3 – 4 times a month. The owners and staff are very friendly.

Great news! La Parrilla now serving breakfast on Friday Saturday and sunday! Stop in for a smoke free enviornment after a night of gambling at Twin pines for some fresh air and a GREAT breakfast!

I just recently discovered this little family owned gem. This appears to be the more upscale Mexican food option in town. The food has always been delicious. The chef makes dishes that are very appealing to the eye. You can tell he takes his time plating each and every dish and makes them look perfect every time! The chips are good and the salsa is decent as well! The employees are very friendly and polite! Service can be a tad bit on the slow side when it gets busy, but that is to be expected with only one person on the floor. The good food will keep me coming back !

Found this place through a recommendation out of Langtry tasting room and what a treat! Do not pass this place by! We had chili verde and chili rellano both were fabulous! We paired it with a nice wine from Langtry at the picnic tables outside. Delicious food, great wine, and great company… Doesn’t get much better!

Come based on the reviews. Good food. Nice quality. Fair prices. Friendly service. Would recommend to another out of towner. Haven’t found many food places in this area. The fish tacos were amazing. The dressing on it was delicious and the fish delicate and perfectly cooked. The steak tacos and pork tacos were equally good. Chips and salsa were ok. Not great and they didn’t have queso dip which coming from Dallas was shocking. ;)

I was impressed by the fresh, clean food at this little Mexican place in this sleepy town. The chicken burrito was superb, not a speck of fat or grizzle on the shredded chicken and it was spiced just perfectly for me. The house salad was lightly dressed with a vinaigrette and very refreshing. Will definitely eat here again.

We came here on the glowing recommendation of a friendly local person and were surprised to find it’s only middle-of-the-road Mexican food by Bay Area standards. I guess it’s a lot tougher to find good eats in Lake County. The most memorable thing about this restaurant was that they serve rice molded in the shape of a little pyramid on your plate. It’s a delight for young children and for adults who’ve already had 2 or more margaritas.

So I made a 5 star review in 2011 and it was removed for a content guidelines violation? lol Anyway, I stand by my 5 star review of this place. They have amazing food. I’ve never been disappointed in the almost 5 years I’ve been going. We eat there every Saturday. Everyone knows us by name there and we’re treated like family. The chile verde is amazing. Their alambres are amazing. The margaritas are super yummy! They’ve recently added custom built wooden picnic tables to the outside dinning area and they’re really nice. I’ve noticed a few of the 1 star reviews seem to mention La Parilla isn’t what they were expecting for Mexican food. It’s a very different menu. It’s not the traditional Ameri-Mex that some people are accustomed to. Try it out though! And keep an open mind. ;) They even have cactus!

Met some riders there yesterday, After a long ride from the Golden Gate Bridge we were quite hungry. Really good mainstream Mexican food. Excellent salads with lots of tasty ingredients. generous portions and every seemed fresh. The service was also great. Great stop for a hearty meal with some flavor.

I don’t normally give out 5 stars but this place definitely deserves it! This place is out in the middle of nowhere, at least to me it was. I was staying in a town close to this place and when I asked the inn keeper where I could get something to eat, she suggested this place. The place is located right off the main road. It has indoor and out door seating. In nice weather, I can imagine this place being packed due to the outstanding service and the excellent food. We were seated and then were given our drinks within a few minutes of being greeted. The server/host was very attentive and friendly. She offered suggestions when asked what she recommended. I haven’t had Mexican food like this since I lived out on the West Coast. Mexican food here, or at least where I have eaten can’t compare to the places out West nor this place. Hands down, this place has the best tacos I have ever had. I tried the shrimp, steak and chicken. All tacos were amazingly good and had unique flavors. The Shrimp was grilled, the steak was grilled and chopped up and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. I would recommend these tacos to anyone in search of tacos. My wife tried the fish tacos and said they were the best she’s ever had. We started off with fresh chips and salsa. We ordered a side of guacamole and a side of habanero hot sauce. The guacamole was creamy and made from really fresh avocados and the hot sauce packed some real heat. Wonderful for putting on the tacos to give it that extra punch! The serving sizes are good for the price and you can’t beat the flavors that are presented. I would have eaten more tacos, chips and salsa if I could have but I ate so many that I left stuffed like a Thanksgiving Turkey. So, if you are looking for some good Mexican food and are in that area, give this place a try. I know you won’t be disappointed. Thanks for reading my review. This review is based off of my personal experience and opinion.
