I brought my bike in a couple of months ago and they completely destroyed my bike’s wheel alignment. It is now unridable and it will never ride the same way again, even if i get it completely overhauled. When I complained at the time they completely ignored me and rushed me out the door. This store is entirely too aware it is the only bike shop in town. They also chipped the right hand side of my frame in two places. Judging from the dents I would guess it was from a drop. Once again– ZEROACCOUNTABILITY. They denied the entire thing and essentially told me to shut up and get out. I am frankly disgusted by the this company’s refusal to accept responsibility for its mistakes. I am not the only other person this has happened to– 2 of my colleagues have also had their bikes damaged by these people. Do not trust this business, THEYWILLBREAKYOURBIKE.

My experience buying a new bike at Pedal Power was geat. The staff there are real knowledgeable and they make bike shopping fun without any pressure. I want to thank Katie for helping me pick out my awsome new road bike and thank you to Gary for doing a bike fit and ordering me the right size bike that I feel comfortable with. I also want to thank Paul for doing a great job putting it together and sending me an email/text when he completed it.

This is a morally bankrupt business. They broke my bike while it was in their shop getting new tires and then denied all responsibility. They completely destroyed the right gear shifter, rendering the bike unrideable. They also bent a metal emblem, which I would have forgiven without complaint if not for the greater damage to the shifter. The manager handled it horribly. The manager(scrawny, tall, grey hair) insisted it had simply snapped, immediately after leaving their care of course. I have used this gear shifter for years and it has never displayed any issues-no cracking, no looseness, no sliding-and all of a sudden, seconds after leaving Pedal Power’s shop it’s broken. Is that coincidence? Absolutely not. Maybe the worst part of the entire situation is that I could tell the manager knew it had been broken in the shop. Apart from there being no other reasonable explanation, he conferred with his«mechanic» before talking to me and made a point of whispering. They stopped mid sentence when I walked over to them. Suspicious as all this was, I could let it go as paranoia. What made me CERTAIN he knew was that he said he would be willing to split the price on the repair. That is a guilty conscience at work. If you didn’t damage it, why are you willing to pay for half of the repair? Innocent men don’t broker deals for crimes they haven’t committed. He even said it sheepishly, like he was trying to apologize. When something is 100% your fault, paying for 50% of the repair isn’t good enough. All I wanted was for them to fix the damage they had caused. I trusted Pedal Power to make things right and they failed me. When he adamantly refused to repair the bike, I asked the manager point blank: «Are you willing to lose a loyal customer over this?» And he, without so much as blinking, replied«Yes I am.» It was a $ 15 repair. $ 15. That’s how much years of loyalty are worth to Pedal Power. I will never be returning. I had been going to pedal power ever since I moved to the Middletown area and had thought of them as an honest shop. I would have given them $ 15 as a tip. It was not the money at issue, it was the moral fabric of the store. There is a fundamental trust that you must have in any repair shop that you entrust your vehicle to– Pedal Power is undeserving of that trust.

Been going there for years and it’s a beautiful shop with great service. Now if you drop your bike off for repairs you get an automatic text when it is done ready for pick up. Just another small but great thing they do.

I was visiting friends for the weekend and brought my new folding bike with me(never used before). I thought my friends had a pump for the tires, but they didn’t, so I walked down to Pedal Power hoping to use theirs. Not only were they super nice and let me use their pump, they noticed that I hadn’t correctly assembled my bike and helped me out with getting the headset correct, which prevented potential damage to my new bike. Then they helped me with some route options for my ride. I am always cautious walking into a new to me shop. No worries here! This is a high quality shop, with knowledgeable and super friendly staff.

Great place to do business with. I have purchased many items, including a bicycle, tools and parts all with their advice. I was advised well by their staff.

Awesome place. Came in for something small, the staff ended up working on my bike for free. Will definitely be doing all my bike business with them.

this shop is great! probably the best all around bike shop ive ever been inside! huge selection of completes & parts and a hard working friendly staff. I’ve never gone inside this shop and the first time i did i had at least 3 offers to be helped. if you do take any one of the staff up on the offer get ready for an education! Everyone there is passionate about bikes and they even have a local Pro rider as part of the floor staff! They will spend as much time as needed for you to leave the shop confident that A) what you bought was a great decision or B) when you go to the next place to shop around you’ll be wishing you were back at Pedal Power! it’s hard for me to want to go to a bike shop because i do know how to work on my own stuff and i’m very picky about what parts i ride. I’ve actually brought one of my bikes to the shop, gave them a budget, waited for them to finish the assembly and couldn’t have been happier.

I brought 2 bikes here to get them repaired. Both of them were in extreme disrepair, and these guys made them as good as new. I also bought a bike for my daughter here, and I have found their prices to be reasonable. I have found that all of the people that work here are extremely friendly and will go out of their way to help. I’m not a big bike rider, and I know that some«riders» can be a bit obnoxious to deal with if you’re do not ride a lot… but I found these guys to be really helpful even in helping me with my old, cheap, beat-up bikes. There was a small issue with the repairs on one of the seats on the bike, but the important thing was that these guys made it right. I talked with the manager, and he clearly understands that«the customer is always right.» He also offered for me to bring my bikes in anytime if they do not seem to be riding right. Great bike shop… friendly people. They are my bike shop of choice.

I was looking for tires for my friend’s mountain bike. The shop grom came out to help me and I asked for Kenda Nevegals, one of the most popular tires made because of its great grip and versatility. Now I came by in wintertime, when stock levels are low, so I wasn’t expecting much. But the kid was like, «Never heard of it». I couldn’t help myself when I pointed out he is standing next to a bike with Nevegals! Like I said, it is a popular tire so half the mountain bikes in the shop had them. Bwhahaha!

If I could, I would rate 3.5 stars. Be sure to check out upstairs if you are at all into bikes, they have some lugged italian beauties hiding up there with terrifying pricetags. This is a bike shop focused on Speedo racers and college kids — while they do carry some of the standard fixed-gear offerings from FELT, Raleigh, etc. and have a small BMX section, these areas are not nearly as choice-laden as in some other shops. Good collection of general bike accessories, gloves, lights, fenders, patches, etc. They even carry Chrome messenger bags, which is surprising. All in all, I’m really really glad to have this in Middletown. That said, the service department can be hit-or-miss. There are some extremely competent people who will go out of their way to make sure all the work they do is perfect, and then there are some people that, frankly, might not tighten all the hex-bolts all the way all the time… which can be dangerous. If you’re having a bike put together from scratch by them, be sure to give it a once over, check for any loose components, preferably in the parking lot right out the back door. Definitely check this place before you drive out of your way, it probably has something you need.

It’s good to have a bike shop like this near your house, and these days it seems bike shops are going away much like record shops. These guys have a big sales floor full of new and used bikes, a massive workshop in the back, and a big stockroom full of more bikes. The staff here has always been helpful and friendly when i was shopping for a new bike or looking for parts to tune up an old one. They let me test ride and compare a few different bikes and never made me feel rushed or pressured into buying something on the spot. The things I was looking at were pretty reasonably priced — maybe you can get it for a little less on the internet and wait 5 days and pay shipping, but I prefer to shop local and not wait for days. One thing I have come to realize is that there are a lot of different bike manufacturers, and not every company is carried at every bike shop — so to compare the bikes here to another shop isn’t so easy to do because most shops carry different product lines. They seemed to have a lot of Trek, Gary Fisher, Felt and Raleigh here. If you are looking for a brand like Cannondale, Schwinn or Marin you will have to go elsewhere.
