This used car dealer in Middletown, NY seems to foster hot-headed salespeople, and their treatment of customers interested in negotiating a fair price is outrageous. I was recently yelled at and asked to leave the offices just for even suggesting we negotiate the price of a 2005 Toyota Camry with 90,000 miles. With evidence from my mechanic of an accident and a less than perfect repair, when we sat down to finalize the deal, I informed the dealer that we needed to discuss price to reflect the fact that there was clear evidence the car had been in an accident. The salesman’s first response was«You’re killing me!»(really). He then began raising his voice and was visibly upset. I questioned him on this, and he said«of course I’m upset!» Then started to walk out of the office and said«I have to bring my sales manager in here!» The sales manager calmly introduced himself, and asked about the sale. I repeated my feeling that the price should reflect the fact that my mechanical inspection revealed that there is poorly repaired accident damage to the car. The manager then also raised his voice and said«The price of my car is the price. If you don’t want the car, then have a good day!» Realizing that no customer should be yelled at for suggesting the price be negotiated, I turned and walked out. With this type of business model, it’s no wonder they have been trying to sell this car since September 2014!
