I have lived in Midland for many years but never tried lil chef. My boyfriend and I decided to try it out. Now I know why my parents never took us here. Salad bar looked bad and tasted just as bad. The food was way over cooked & the server took forever to take our order. She took the order for 2 tables that came in 5 – 10 minutes after us first. Could hear everything the servers were saying. Never once saw a manager. I will not be back and do not recommend!

Went here for breakfast. Service was nice. The food wasn’t anything spectacular but wasn’t amazing either. If you’re looking for a Big Boy class place you won’t be disappointed but you won’t be wowed either. I’d still rather support a local business than a chain.

Good old fashioned diner/breakfast place. The pancakes were excellent. The price was very cheap. However, I’m from Alaska so my views on cost are a bit skewed. They have fruit pies for $ 1.99 a piece. What a deal!!!

Wow!!! This place has some harsh reviews. Well, Lil chef actually has very good food. I tend to go with the fish n chips, which are great. Adding to the charm of this place is the fact that my friend works there.

A quaint little family-style restaurant. Lots of pictures of old Midland on the walls. I had the corn-beef hash and eggs with sourdough toast. It was cooked perfectly. Our order was taken quickly and our food was served fast and hot. I look forward to returning and trying other items on the menu.

Came back after being gone 35 years. Yup, still serving the same crap. The only thing different are the vinyl seats in the booths are all cut and slit up. Your sitting on the fuzzy cushion material… creepy. & gross Waitress stand around talkin the basic trailer park small talk.

I went to college in Midland for two years. Anyone who has spent a lot of time there knows that there aren’t a ton of food choices. My roommate and I decided to try Lil Chef one night for the hell of it. The interior is what you’d expect from a small town diner. I ordered a sandwich with the salad bar. While making my salad, the waitress asked if I wanted fries and I said yes since she said it came with my meal. This was not the case. The salad bar sucked and was basically lettuce and dressing but DIY. My sandwich and fries were nothing special. Lo and behold, I get my receipt and was charged for the fries even though they were supposedly included. At this point I just wanted to get out of there so I paid $ 11 for my food + tip. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. If you’re feeling diner-y, just go to Big Boy like I should have.

Greasy spoon which in theory is something I would like. However the food I had here on the 3 times I came was just mediocre, so I quit coming. There are not many dining options in town, but you can find better than this.

An oldie but a goodie, and by goodie I mean the single most horrific experience I have ever had at a restaurant. This place is a ho-hum 24 hour diner, the food is little town diner quality so you get what you pay for. Usually I am all about cheap eats, in fact I find myself a cheap eats connoisseur, but I draw a line somewhere. I’m not sure where that line is drawn, however it is clearly crossing the line when the waitress«peeks» into your omelet. This was a while back, but it clearly deserves recognition – a friend of mine and I ordered different omelets, apparently the waitress must have forgotten whose was whose, so upon delivery she had to take her three inch acrylic nails and open one… unfortunately I drew the short straw and she opened mine. Surprisingly I wasn’t particularly hungry after that, who knew. Second horrific story: I was here and a waitress apologized at the beginning since she was on a 16 hour shift and let us know her service might be a little suck. She fulfilled her promise and the food was slow and refills nonexistent. Every time she appeared she would let us know she was working a 16 hour shift and drinking redbull in the back. Turns out she was on the start of a 16 hour shift… like hour one. I’m not sure how sleep and fatigue works, but I thing it may be one of those things that gets worse as time goes on, not the other way around.
