Received a gift card so months later decided to stop in. The beer, mead, cider, and wine selection was fantastic. The problem was ordering one. My girlfriend and I sat for ten minutes before we were greeted by our server, who was very nice, it took another ten minutes to get our drinks. They were out of the first two appetizers we tried to order and out of all chicken items. Atmosphere was great and very clean but overall not a good impression.

We were up at our property in Gladwin a couple weeks ago and decided to stop and try out this place on our way home. They have a great selection of Michigan beer and wines. Our waiter was very nice. I gave three stars because the service was terrible. It took almost an hour to get our food! We both ordered Panini sandwiches and they were rock hard! When we ordered our drinks they came out in good time but when my husband ordered a second beer, that took about 15 minutes.

Quite simply the best place to get beer in all of mid-Michigan. A large constantly changing collection of Michigan craft beers, meades, wines, and craft liquors. A extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff who are also friendly and fun. A small but very good menu for snacks or light meals. All this in a wonderful ambiance with a friendly crowd that ranges from just legal to drink to their great-grandparents. Lots of old school games to play and often on the weekends live music. This is my favorite place to go.

Wow, what a gem in such a small town. There are so many local beers available here, as well as ciders and spirits. It’s difficult to choose… good thing you can get a flight for a very reasonable price! It varies for each beer but I got to try seven Michigan beers for $ 15. The bartenders advised well and the atmosphere is nice, although it was a little noisy. There was also a family with two babies; I will never understand why you would want to bring those to a bar. Great place to meet with your friends and try a bunch of beers. They also serve food like hotdogs and cheese plates but I didn’t try any this time.

Service was awful just on our side(there was a table next to us that got fast service. The flight options are awesome and you can choose a wine or beer one. The food choices are limited(we got the Chicago coney). There are tons of games to play like Sequence and Yahtzee!

They have a decent selection of beers and ciders. Was disappointed in the wine selection, but I am also not accustomed to MI wines. Atmosphere was good and we were able to have easy conversations within our group without yelling. We did wish they had a dessert or two on the menu and the service was quiet slow throughout the entire night. It took several minutes for them to even acknowledge we walked in the door.

I really enjoyed myself here. They had fantastic selection of beer, including lots of made in MI stuff, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Beer from all over Michigan, has some board games to play. Great bar to go to with a SO, go to Bay City/Saginaw if you’re single.

First off, I went here because I did a quick Google search for breweries in Midland, MI… and this place came up. Taproom and tasting room are terms often associated with breweries, not bars(Pigeon Hill in Muskegon is a taproom that brews their own beers) but if I did more research, I probably could have realized they were not a brewery at all… that is on me. The reason for the two stars is that when we sat down after moving our 50 lb. bar stools(makes no sense) we asked the bartender if they brew any of the beers on their huge list, and he seemed almost insulted. When we looked at the menu, thr prices really made no sense whatsoever to two people who are more familiar than most when it comes to craft beer. $ 7 for a can of Atwater Vanilla Java Porter, when you can get the same beer at an old Chicago, for example, for $ 5.same size too! One of their cheaper beers was Oberon and at $ 4.50, they probably undercharged for it. All the beer prices were out of whack with most of them coming out of a bottle or can. We saw the food as it came out for people setting next to us, and I observed a gentleman who I thought got meatloaf… only to find out they were baby back ribs… gross. The mug club is something, again, accustomed to breweries, and it is a very big waste of money IMO. Half the beers are not even on tap, so a mug does no good at all when you are drinking out of a bottle or can. This has a Beer Grotto feel to me, but I think Beer Grotto has a much better business plan with this place. We left after one beer to go to the stadium to drink cheaper craft beer… that shouldn’t be possible! No TV either.

I’m not a huge fan of bars, beer, or wine, so I was mostly here to hang with friends, but I was pleasantly surprised. They had great cider and mead options for those of us who like the sweet stuff! And the sandwiches and chips were great, especially with the bar cheese dip. I would definitely recommend this place and go again myself. The service was also pretty good — friendly and fairly quick. Just try to order everything you want early on because it’s hard to get the staff’s attention once they’re focused on new tables.

Good atmosphere, great beer selection and decent food. I had the Cuban panini with a side of fresh fruit(grapes, apple and strawberry). Try a flight of 4oz samples or get a full size. plenty of choices on draft and in bottles snd cans.

I am reviewing WhichCraft STRICTLY based upon my bar experience. A friend and I went on a weekday evening to find the place packed. We found a spot at the bar, and I was blown away with the selections they offered. When I say blown away, I could have literally fallen off of my seat. The selection of brews is ENORMOUS compared to anything in the Tri-Cities. You can do flights, pints, samples, you name it. They have new offerings so often it’s hard to keep up. The bartenders are friendly and very knowledgable. I’m pleased that they had so many beers on nitro! Another charm is the décor and the fact that they have nostalgic games like connect four at the tables so you and your friends can relive your childhood while still indulging in the art of intoxication. I’ll definitely be back!

Outstanding beer and food selections. Not only is the beer great but the food is great as well. The only issue here is service. It is slow the servers are not respectful so do expect to be treated well but you can drink and eat. If you like IPAs they have many to choose from. The food changes daily so check the web site.

Awesome beer. Loved the Bay red. Wished the menu was more of a variety as it could really take off.

Witchcraft is my favorite bar in Midland. It has a cool atmosphere, food is good, although selection is small, and beer selection is good. If you need a suggestion for a beer, waiters are usually spot on with suggestions :) Can get loud at night. For beers in midland, it’s more pricey, but not terrible!

One of the few gems Midland has to offer, it’s open atmosphere gives you a rare(in midland) modern urban feel. The seats aren’t the most comfortable but that’s part of the experience. The environment is usually somewhat packed and noisy but they always have an open seat. They’re decked out with a bunch of games so it’s clear their hope is for you to lounge there a bit. The staff are friendly(albeit their attention is a bit brief). They come right away, very knowledgable about the huge selection of beer. They allow up to two samples before making you pay for a flight. But their selection is very thorough and caters to anyone, from people who hate beer to beer connoisseurs. The«bar food» is absolutely delicious, try their grilled cheese. Best I’ve ever had. Don’t go expecting a filling meal, it’s not dinner grade stuff, you may not leave full. But it’s nice late night snacking. I do agree with the other reviews that the early stopping time is a bit unusual, and one of the glaring downsides to this joint, but for midland… It’s a must-visit!

I love the beer selection, and that they only have Michigan beers. We liked the veggies and pita with the three types of dips. The problem is that this establishment is insanely loud. It’s always packed, but they also blast the music. My girlfriend and I are somewhat soft-spoken, so it’s impossible for us to have a conversation while there.

I have now been to the Taproom 3 times since the initial disaster. The service has been much better, but it also hasn’t been as busy. I enjoy beer flights and being able to taste all the great Michigan beers. There is a store near my home that has most of the selections in stock, so I am now able to purchase more confidently. Appetizers and sandwiches are creatively tasty and not over-priced. Tabuoli salad is pleasant change from the french fries you get at most bars. I would recommend this place for any beer lover. Except avoid during peak hours.

3.5 stars. If you are in downtown Midland and looking for a beer then look no further. Featuring dozens of Michigan brewed beers on a well-organized(by beer style) menu, WhichCraft will have what you are looking for … unless they’ve run out of a particular beer, which happened while I was there. I only had a snack — the IPA Honey Dijon & Beer Cheese was nice — but they were offering BBQ the night I was there. The service is efficient and it’s nice and warm even when it’s below zero outside. Some of the wood benches are so wide it’s difficult to get into them unless you are on the end, but the big damper to WhichCraft is the weird lighting scheme. I’ve been told it’s less bright than before, but the tone of the lighting is really harsh. It’s not very flattering and could be a turnoff if you are on a date or trying to hit on someone. The lighting in the bathroom area is even brighter and will surely sober you up(which could be a good or bad thing).
