Cute place! Good coffee! I’m NOT a coffee geek though :) so all I can really say is the coffee is good the staff is nice and they have live music! Sweet! I was impressed with the size of this place too. The breakfast sandwiches were«meh» but edible. We probably will only be back for coffee.

I think this place has moved to the southside, so I will review that location. Quaint little coffee shop… The coffee is really good, and the ambiance is relaxed. I haven’t eaten there yet, so I can’t comment. They have tons of coffee options and sell packages to make at home. They also have a little«library» section that I thought was unique.

EXPERIENCE: Carytown Coffee is quite possibly Richmond’s greatest coffee supplier. No other local coffeehouse provides the quality, variety, or volume that CC does. What’s more is that they have great service and a price that’s hard to beat for this kind’a brew. Many times I’ve had their beans bagged for me in-house and every time you by a bag you get free cup of joe(any size) from any of the two varieties they have brewed at the time. PROS: — Options: Buy 1lb. or 5lb. bags, green beans to roast yourself, or any number of teas. — Selection: All offered as whole bean or pre-ground. — Staff is always friendly and helpful. — Free cup of coffee with each bag you buy. CONS: — If you have a standard work day, you’ll want to stop by in the morning. BOTTOMLINE: Carytown Coffee really is a hidden gem in Midlothian. If you’re serious about coffee there really isn’t any reason to go anywhere else. SUGGESTIONS: — Brazilian Breakfast Blend is a solid go-to. — Espresso blend is exceptional. — Peaberry makes for an interesting lighter brew.

We have their Bada Boom blend in our restaurant for both our house brewed coffee and our cold-brewed iced coffee.

I’m also a coffee geek. The review by James basically covers things. I’ll just mention that the owner and staff are all pleasant to talk to and happily answer any questions you may have. A hidden gem here in Midlothian!

I’m a coffee geek. I’ve gone through several levels of geekiness, including roasting my own raw beans, while continually upgrading my brewing equipment. I could make you a plain cup of coffee 8 different ways. I’m serious about good coffee. I’ve just recently come back to James River Coffee(also known as Carytown Coffee on the James) after seeing their coffee at The Fresh Market. I think they are primarily a commercial service but they have a storefront at this address, just before getting onto 288N. They have a great selection of coffee beans, both single origin and their own blends, all roasted by them in-house. I’ve really enjoyed their Breakfast Blend but also love the Brazil Monte Carmelo and many others. I notice they have an espresso machine and brew their coffee for sale but I haven’t tried it yet. I like that their beans are at least $ 2 less per pound than a certain coffee chain and other local coffee stores. Keep in mind that they do not keep the hours of a typical retail coffee shop so they’re good for the morning commute stop but aren’t open past 5pm. They know their coffee and do it very well. If you enjoy Folgers you might not appreciate this place(or any place that sells coffee in less than 3 pound tubs), but if you like a quality cup of coffee I highly recommend them.
