Its your standard peking, same styled interiors. Same kind staff, it is my second favorite peking location. They do need to update the menu with new stuff and maybe some images.

Stop by for dinner at 4:15pm on friday evening the door was open went inside and the lady at the front told us to wait outside until 4:30pm… really seemed like she didnt want to serve us, instead of offering us to wait up front or sit us and have us wait until 4:30… not cool

I’ve been here for the Sunday buffet 6 times. Always excellent. Very reasonable price for buffet. Would rate higher if there was more variety from week to week in selection. However, they stick with what they have, and it is good. My favorites are the spicy green bean(best I’ve had), beef and broccoli and a spicy pork dish. Price includes free hot tea and soup to your table as well as a glass of champagne upon request(or rather sparkling wine). Vanilla ice cream at the bar with a topping table. Management ans servers have always been friendly with no wait on service. My rating is based on on other chinese restaurants in the area.

Bad experience there from beginning to end… don’t bother. Was unable to get seated, even though there was plenty of available space. Just had a bad experience… Hostess was nice but unable to accommodate… Manager was rude and unable to accommodate. My experience there got worse as the it went along. I will never go there again.

Have eaten here in the past mainly for the Peking Duck, which they do a decent job with. Yesterday(July 9th) we went there at 8:25pm and walked out about 15 minutes later due to awful service! They seated us and then a couple that came in after. We waited for a waiter or waitress to appear, but they were all in the back talking and the front desk hostess was too lazy to go and let them know they had customers. When a waiter finally did come out, he went to the table of the couple that came in after us, because that lazy useless hostess didn’t make any effort to let him know which customers were waiting the longest. When we left, there was no effort by the hostess to get her butt off the chair she was inclined on and even ask us what was wrong. We will never go there again and advise everyone else to avoid this dump.

I would like to know how in the world this place gets decent reviews. The décor is lovely, and the place was as clean as it was empty, but the food simply was not good. It was bland and tasteless but worse, we were served raw scallops. The server never came back to our table until it was time to pay the check. She brought the manager to the table to show him the uneaten raw scallops. He offered to fix us something else, which we declined, as we were on our way out. He graciously comped a portion of the bill. Perhaps we caught them on an off night but I’ll never know for sure. There are too many good Chinese restaurants in the area to consider. This isn’t one of them.

The very worst I’ve had in Chinese food. In. My. Life. My husband offered his opinion in few words … «Inedible» Neither of us finished anything, in fact we hardly started them. Neither the kung pow nor Szechuan(?) Chicken had any spice or flavor, and don’t bother with the spring rolls, they’re squishy, made in flaky rice paper and flavorless. All in all a 30 $ ++ waste. If I could get my money back that would be appropriate at this point, the meal went so badly.

Good prices, excellent service, good variety of choices. The best Chinese delivery around… but eating in here is always a quiet and relaxing experience.

Favorite Chinese food in Southside. Highly recommend the Chicken Fried Rice and Dumplings. We have always gotten taken out; staff is friendly.

Definitely one of the best Chinese places around. Peking has the most incredible general Tso’s chicken(#9) I have ever tasted. It is always cooked perfectly and the sauce is amazing; it’s not a gooey mess like most low budget Chinese restaurants. I also enjoy the Peking duck, portion for two. Peking uses good quality so the price is worth it. I recommend this place to everyone. My star rating is based on other Chinese restaurants in the area.

Well, I had to go back and see if it would, by my taste buds, compare to a number of other Chinese restaurants in the Richmond area. It’s good, very good but not in my top three. One of the nice things is the service and it’s a place you can carry on a nice conversation over dinner. Good scallops and shrimp! :-)

Don’t let the bad reviews on here turn you off, they’re easily the best Chinese food in the area though I will admit their delivery is much better than dining in. Dining in: I’ve been coming here for years and I’ve never seen more than a few tables at a time have customers. There’s a pretty big elderly crowd that dines in and that’s about it. The man that runs this location is really nice and very professional and you can definitely see it in how the place is run. It’s always very clean, the staff is always well dressed and well groomed and very personable and friendly. If you want a nice quiet dinner without many other people around dine in, other wise order out or get your food delivered. Delivery: I have a hard time understanding people on the phone in general so I typically dread ordering Chinese food because an accent makes it that much harder for me however they always have someone without an accent answer or someone who can speak clearly and actually understands you completely making ordering very quick and easy. They also delivery very quick, even on nights where they’re busy I don’t think I’ve ever waited more than 20 minutes for delivery and I live about 10 minutes from them. They’re also the only Chinese restaurant in the area, if not Richmond, that has a website with their full menu, hours, ect. They’re also open pretty late and don’t stop delivering early. As for the food, I’ve never not liked anything I’ve ordered from there and I’ve been eating there since I was a kid. They’ve got just about every typical Chinese dish you can think of at a reasonable price with large portions as well as some dishes I haven’t seen at other Chinese restaurants.

I went to this Peking last night for dinner and I must say, for a restaurant located in the heart of Midlothian, it certainly missed the mark. Here is my review: The Good: No Crowd– I initially planned to go to Pescado’s last night, but I got there and the wait time was 35 minutes. Being hungry, I decided to go to Peking located next door instead. Every restaurant within the area except Peking was very busy. So I went to Peking, walked in and was seated immediately. The Bad: Service, Service, Service!- After being seated, the server did not come to my table for any reason until 10 minutes had passed. When she did come to the table, she sat a bowl of dry noodles in the middle of the table along with some hot tea then left without saying anything. She then brought out a water without asking what I wanted to drink and proceeded to ask for my food order. The restaurant was barely at 50% capacity so the lack of service was inexcusable. This is a typical chinese restaurant that serves food at PF Chang prices. The lack of service and average quality of food has forced me to give it a lower rating than the Peking on downtown Cary St. TWOSTARS.

I will say this was not my first adventure at Peking — I have visited the location off Broad Street(for which I prefer to dine at). However, being that I was closer to Midlo at the time, I decided to stop in and dine. I was quite impressed with the overall clean factor this place had. For early dinner, there was not a a soul in the place. A lot of locals did come in and placed their orders to-go. I will say one of my favorite parts of dining here was the amazing salt water fish tank. It was very nice to watch while eating dinner. Now, the meal was not on par as the Grove Ave and Broad Street locations have, so I was quite disappointed. My meal was nothing above average and my companion felt the same regarding their meal. I am disappointed in the meal considering the price was a bit steep for Chinese. I have had better dinners and I think I will carry my business elsewhere next time I am craving Hunan Pork or Beef Pepper Steak.

Friendly staff and consistent good service and food. I have eaten here dozens of times for lunch and dinner. It has always been very good. Family and kid friendly environment. I’ve ordered many take out orders here also. It has always been very good, I would highly recommend this place.

My husband and I have eaten at Peking since it’s original restaurant opened on Grove Ave. in the 70’s. Then it was a fine dining experience, now it is less than mediocre. We ate there last night and had a waitress who made multiple mistakes including serving my husband a glass of Chardonnay instead of his order of Pinot Noir. She rarely checked on us and was very slow to serve our food. Also, the food was not what we expected. The hot and sour soup tasted fine but was cool when served. I had the beef and broccoli which was marinated flank steak and tough. My husband ordered the Szechuan pork which was not as spicy as it should have been. He was quite disappointed. Yen Ching of Midlothian(Genito Rd. and Hull St.) remains our favorite Chinese restaurant and has been for years. The one near Chippenham has been sold but keeps the old name and is not run by the same owners as the ones in Midlothian and Glen Allen. We are very disappointed in the Midlothian Peking but may try the one in Shockoe Bottom to compare.

Peking is your standard tasty Chinese restaurant. To be honest, this is saying a lot for the Richmond area. Since moving here, I’ve had a lot of trouble finding quality Chinese food. There’s decent Mexican everywhere, but Chinese is hard to come by. Peking’s got the famous Chinese lunch combos featuring all your favorites like Triple Delight, Beef with Broccoli and Moo Goo Gai Pan. I am particularly happy with the texture of the chicken here. The chicken at some Richmond Chinese restaurants has an odd texture. I suspect it’s poached, but it just kind of grosses me out. Hence why I often order tofu. Here, I wouldn’t hesitate to order any type of meat. The chicken is moist and flavorful, the shrimp is big and the beef is tender. My favorite dishes are the Hunan Chicken, which is your standard variety with mushrooms, broccoli and bamboo shoots in spicy brown sauce. I do like that there are generally plenty of vegetables. I also often order the Ma-Po tofu, which is sauteed, not fried, in a spicy Szechuan sauce. The décor is that of any upscale Chinese joint: white tablecloths and pretty decorations from China. Service is always attentive and friendly. Your water glass always stays full. I will definitely continue to come here for quality Chinese food.

This was my second visit. The first just seemed to lack the attention to detail that the one of Grove Ave had. I took my wife to allow her to try Peking Duck. It was not carved at table side like I am use too. The skin was not crispy, but was soggy and limp. It had four… FOUR legs and no wings. The veggies given to warp with it were just some onions and small amount of cabbage. Just not the great experience I have had a many other places serving Peking Duck. Serivce was also poor. We took most of it home with us for later. It was not like the skin was going to get any less crisp. My wife was very disappointed, as was I. For her first experience this was a huge let down from what Peking Duck should have been. Will not return
