Regal Cinemas Commonwealth Center 20 & IMAX

Great theatre I love the ammenties here and the always helpful staff. The theatre is always clean and the seats are very comfortable and roomie.

For what they charge you would think they would have staff and equipment that worked. Not one machine could accept the gift cards they sell. Really? Right after Christmas when people are trying to use them?
They had 6 to 7 people behind the concession stand but only 1 (one) was working with customers. You ask for items and they don’t have them or it will take 7 to 10 inutes to make them.
Soda spilled on the counter just sitting no one cleaning it up. Loved the 1 person selling tickets during the rush also. Wtf happened to this theatre.

This theater is old and tired. Ladies room is deplorable. Feels dirty everywhere.

This is my go-​to movie theater because they have many theaters (20…it’s in the name!) and comfortable chairs. I can’t comment much on the food and drink because I refuse to pay $ 5 for a small soda unless I’m near death from dehydration in the desert and find a $ 5 bill on the ground, or get a free soda from the Regal loyalty program. The sound system is also good for smaller theaters.

About what you would expect. The snack bar staff was extremely friendly. Made the overpriced popcorn and candy a little less painful. Not sure when adult and children matinée prices became the same?!

Of course the popcorn and drinks are over priced, but hey… It is the movie theatre and to be expected. However there Hot Food is reasonably priced and they use real chicken. Nice clean facility.

Yeah! Here with my oldest to check out «Avengers Age of Ultron» and we are super excited! This is my favorite theater that I can take my whole family. I prefer Cinebistro for date night with the hubby. :-) The fact they have one of the IMAX 3D theaters in the area and the best between the 2 options by FAR!
They have more than enough parking though depending on what is out and what time you get there, you may need to walk a bit though.
There is a fairly decent selection considering, but it would be nice if they served fries! :-D

Most of everything within walking distance was closed due to the snowstorm. Got to see Kingsman and American Sniper. The place was very empty but the staffs were friendly, and the popcorn and soda was good. The place was immaculate.

Went here for the gazillionth time because it’s pretty close to my home and it was showing the movie I wanted to see. I pick movie theaters based on time of preferred showing rather than actual state of the theater.
This complex is nicer and newer than some. I think there’s 16 theaters.
A purse was left here once and when we drove back to find it, the staff had found it and turned it in.
Bathrooms are clean and feet don’t stick to the floors.
Good place to see a movie, especially if you can get there by 3:00pm and get a seat for 8 bucks!

I“m a frequent visitor because it’s super close to my residence and I’m a Regal card holder so I get free movies often.
However, I have been to better movie theaters as this location is a bit worn out! The seats are dang near horrendous. Time for a face lift on the seating please. When I am selected a seat I walk down the open row pushing back each seat to see if there is any resistance to the recline or if I will just fall back as soon as I sit down. The next thing I look for is the squeakiness of the chairs. Will there be an annoying squeak every time I move in my seat. Lastly, but most importantly… unknown residue left on the seat from previous visitors. YUCK!!! I cannot sit anywhere comfortably if I am sitting on any type of spot… better yet an unknown spot. I am not sure if they have spot cleaners come in every now and then to clean these seats… but honestly I don’t think they do. Another honest moment… we definitely pay enough these days to have a better cinema viewing experience, but I try to see both sides of this thing. So what do I do to help make my movie viewing experience a tolerable one… I dress from head to toe when I go to the movies making sure my skin touches very little to nothing. As soon as I depart… to the washer all clothing items go.

I have been going to this theatre for years ever since it first opened back in 2000. It is a very nice theatre both inside and out. Upon entering there is a huge lobby with the concession area against the back wall. From the lobby, there are two separate wings that branch out on either side (each wing has 10 screens). Aside from the screening rooms, each wing has its own arcade and restrooms. The seats are nice and comfortable and there is enough room to move around. My only complaint is that the restrooms are too small for such a large theater and expect to wait in line to use the john once the movie is over. As much as I like this theatre, I have to confess that I’m a little more partial to the Regal Westchester 16 that is just up 288 since it is newer and has larger restrooms. Still this is not a bad theatre and it is certainly larger that Carmike (which seems outdatedly small now compared to the two Regal cinemas in the area). It’s great to see that this theatre has been well-​maintained for the past 14 years and hope that is stays around for at least that much longer.

This theater continues to go downhill. While the theater style seating is still as comfortable as it was years ago I can not get past how dirty the theater is these days. Sticky floors in the concession area. Stains on the carpets. Dirty Bathrooms. No thanks.

So this multiplex for entertainment is pretty much the same as others like it — you pay too much to get in and the snacks are insanely price. But it’s clean and well lit and it had a great frequency for the movies we wanted to see

Went to see an IMAX movie here on Saturday with my boyfriend. (Metallica: Through The Never) \m/​It was a bit of a hike for us to come out to Midlothian from Glen Allen but I wanted to see this movie in IMAX and I wasn’t convienced from looking online that another theather did have it. It was the opening weekend for this feature and I’d expected a crowd but thankfully the cineama wasn’t packed.
It’s amazing to see how theaters have changed over the past 10 years. It used to be just popcorn, soda and candy. Now you can get burgers, pizza, cheese sticks and just about anything you want. I’m a bit of a traditionalist and stuck with popcorn and diet coke. My boyfriend got a burger with fries. They messed the order up a bit and put pickles on it when he asked that they not, but he seemed to enjoy the food anyways.
There were only 7 other people there to see the showing that we went to so I can’t say that I was uncomfortable with the seating. I don’t think it would have been a problem anyways. The seat are comfortable and not that old. We loved the movie and didn’t have any problems with the theater.

This theater is in a good location: conveniently located off of 288, a lot of places to shop in the same plaza. This place is located 10 minutes from where I live. However, I don’t go to this theater at all anymore. The seats are not as comfortable as other theaters. Sure you have stadium seating, but most of the seats make a squeaking sound if you decide to recline your chair. I noticed that the IMAX theater at this location had their seats renovated. I wish they could renovate all the seats in all of the theaters. At night, there are a lot of teenagers that come to this location. It can get very crowded and hectic. In my opinion, the regal at Westchester Commons is so much better than Commonwealth 20. Sure they don’t have an IMAX at Westchester, but at least it’s much cleaner over there, and the seats are very comfortable!

I’ve been to this movie theater quite a few times in the past, but this is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to review it. Here goes my review:
The Good:
Early Showings– In the past, i’ve been accustomed to going to movie theaters where the earliest showing is around 12:00pm. This theater shows movies as early at 9:30am. And its always good to see a movie around this time to avoid the mass crowd.
Multiple Screens– Some of the smaller theaters have 10 or less big screens, but if I’m not mistaken, Commonwealth 20 has 20 big screens. More than adequate to handle big crowds.
Longer Showings– While some smaller theaters will keep a movie running in the theater a month or less, Commonwealth 20 will run its movies for well over a month. This theater plays movies that have finished running in other theaters around the area.
Variety of Food at Concession– Some movie theater concession stands only sell popcorn, candy and soda, but Commonwealth 20 sells those items as well as slushees, nachos and several hot food items.
The Bad:
Concession Prices– A small popcorn is priced at $ 6. If you go to Carmike, you can get a large popcorn and drink for $ 6.50. That is a no brainer.
Slow service– If you dont print your ticket off at Fandango, you will be waiting in the ticket line for a minimum of 10 minutes during the peak hours. If you get concession during the peak hours, you will stand in line for a minimum of 15 minutes.
Overall– Amid the slow service and high concession prices, the theater shows a variety of movies, offers stadium like seating and provides a better movie experience in my opinion. FOUR STARS.

This theater is pretty awful. The air conditioning in the theater is louder than the sound from the speakers and it rattles. Also, good luck finding a seat that doesn’t squeak or creak to the point of cringing because it’s so loud. Not only that but the movie we saw cut out half way through, granted they fixed it after about 10 minutes but come on… this is all digital, really no excuse. Another thing that doesn’t help is that the majority of people that come here are the ones that constantly disrupt during the movie by talking, texting or even talking on the phone, it never fails. I know this happens from time to time at any theater but Commonwealth 20 just seems to attract those people where it’s a rare occurrence not to have people being loud and disruptive during a movie.
This theater may be close but it is not worth the convenience, they really need to get control of this place because it is not worth the price of admission.

Understaffed and long lines

Good cinema, but beware imax movies cost the same even during early showings. Thought I was saving money by going to an early show, but I didn’t! It doesn’t say that online and I found out when I arrived.

Typical Movie Scene. I really do like this theater overall — for a large chain. Parking is not bad at all. The staff here are quite friendly at consessions and the ticket window. Seating is average for a busy theater and you should not have a problem finding a seat, however, watch your spot or you will get a broken chair. Stop in with 3 clams for a photobooth souvenir.
