Really glad we gave this place a second shot! Our first attempt to dine here was on a Friday night a few months ago and they were busy. I didn’t realize we would have needed a reservation and the hostess was a bit cold and let us know that they were«obligated the entire night». That was such a turn off! We had heard so many good things though and decided to come back this past weekend. LATER(830pm) and on a Saturday. They had plenty of seating for us and accomodated us wanting to sit on the patio. I was really excited to see they offer a special sushi roll every month which donates money to the charity of their choice that month. So cool! June is Cystic Fibroris, fyi. I ordered the Island jumper from the cocktail menu(delicious!) and we started with the grilled calamari(delicious!). My husband and I both ordered the specials that night. He ordered the rockfish and I ordered the wok shrimp with oysters rockefeller. Everything was amazing! Was it the alcohol? The awesome service? The perfect temps and romantic patio dining? The company? I hope we can replicate our experience again soon because there is way more I want to try on this menu. Worth the $ signs!

I decided to visit Wild Ginger after sampling them at Homerama 2016. The food was great, I especially loved the tuna tartare tacos. We also tried the Singaporean curry noodles which were okay, and the benefit roll for June 2016 which had seared filet on top of the sushi. The only complaint I have about this was that the service was a bit lacking. It took a while for a server to come greet us after we were seated. Other than that, it was a good experience. Would recommend trying!

This is the best sushi in Richmond! I am a creature of habit so unfortunately I always get the same thing but it’s so delicious I always crave it. I get the flower roll every time and it’s amazing. also you have to get the lobster wonton appetizers they’re not like any other wontons you’ve ever had they’re delicious! Go there get anything on the menu and you will not be disappointed

Great sushi and great service! Semi dressy. Had the rainbow roll, power roll, and triple tuna roll. Delicious. Good selection of wine and beer and fully stocked bar. The sushi was very fresh.

Great Sushi, other food is just meh. I would love to buy more of their sushi, however they are rarely open. Unless you fit in to their abnormal schedule of being open, you are out of luck. This is a shame because the Sushi is pretty good. However, many surrounding locations sell sushi that is close enough so can’t say this restaurant is more than two stars. Would be better if they worked more than a handful of hours a day and tasted their own food.

As a newer VA resident I’ve had this place recommended to me over and over again. I finally made the visit and it didn’t disappoint! Ambiance was lovely, service was outstanding and the food was perfection! I will be back!

Outstanding varied Oriental cuisine. Same owners have Osaka and couple other Richmond properties. No complaints, good service, outstanding local draft Virginia stout, sushi, tempura, seafood specialties all very good in big party with no complaints.

Disastrous night. Got there with a party of 16. Seated outside which was nice since we had half a dozen kids. Downhill from there. I’ll just list the issues: After 30 minutes of waiting, a drink order was taken-my glass of wine was filled about 3 ounces. This isn’t a tasting. Was given a look by the manager as he topped it off after complaining. Secondly the table enjoyed their apps as they forgot to bring out my wife and mine. They decided to serve the kids first in which my son’s plate was 30 minutes later than the rest of the kids table. No one was asked for another drink after the following 90 minutes at which time our ghost waitress told us that our sushi hasn’t even been started yet. Mind you we arrived before there were 5 other tables occupied. We told them to package it up and that we had waited for 2.5 hours which was long enough. The only reason I did not give them 1 star is because they discounted our receipts by 50%. I would have rather paid full price and enjoyed a better dining experience.

Who woulda thunk you could find such excellent sushi and various Asian cuisine in the wilds between Henrico and Powhatan Counties? I didn’t… Second time here, on a busy Friday night, and the service is again excellent. One caution: make reservations a day in advance, as all the other locals come hungry!

This restaurant is part of the same group as Osaka, Fat Dragon, and Blue Goat. The lamb lollipops were really good. The portions here are very large. Two people can easily share an appetizer and one entrée. I would give the Sushi 4.0 stars. The service we had was 5.0-star(excellent). Our entrees were probably closer to a 2.0 rating.

Let me start by saying, the sweet potato roll is a must! I love this place. I was introduced to this restaurant for a work lunch and immediately knew that I had to come back. The atmosphere is amazing. The server was extremely helpful. Everyone that was with me had a great time and an amazing meal. The portion sizes are generous. There is always enough for leftovers. I only wish it was closer to where I live so I can go more often.

Went for dinner last Saturday with some friends. We arrived a bit before our 7pm reservation and were seated immediately. I liked the atmosphere. Waitress seemed new as she didn’t have much knowledge of the Saki or the menu and had to get the manager to answer questions. She was not ready to make recommendations. Now to the food. It was beautifully presented! The grilled calamari was a bit overcooked and chewy but the mango salsa was yummy! The oysters were great and EVERYONELOVED the lobster wontons. Hubby got the short ribs and said they ere good… a bit too much grand mariner for my taste. I had the wok beef and it was fabulous! I seemed to enjoy my meal the most out of everyone. One person got the rockfish special and didn’t like it at all… but we don’t send food back bc we have worked in restaurants. Long story short, I would say try this place! I plan to go back.

Wild ginger is a solid 4 star establishment. Went there for lunch — lunch menu was small but had enough variety. The prices were reasonable and the outdoor seating was wonderful! I LOVE sushi but since I was being«treated» I didn’t feel right ordering it on someone else’s dime. That said I did have the seared tuna salad which was very fresh and very delicious. I also tried a sweet potato roll and was impressed. The rice was yummy, the tempura was just right and the presentation was lovely. Also, the service was excellent and I loved the cucumber water. Weird complaint but I wish they used a better brand of wasabi because I love the kick! All in all I would recommend this place to a friend and will be going back on my own dime to try some of their sushi.

Stopped in for lunch and glad that we did. I really liked the modern feel and the wait staff was incredibly nice and helpful. We stuck with the sushi options and were not disappointed. I’d probably have to add Wild Ginger to Osaka on the list for top sushi spots in Richmond. Just so everyone is on the same page, there are great dive bar sushi spots and there are more upscale options. Both serve their purpose, but this would fall in the upscale variety.

Love this place! Probably my favorite in the area. Very cool bar situation, even if the clientele average age is 40+. Looks like a Manhattan bar. Specialty drinks are outstanding. They use a lot of cucumber, which is a refreshing change on things. Food is phenomenal. All sushi items are fantastic. If you go as a couple or 2 couples, the bar is a great door to eat as opposed to a table. Beware, it is pricey. It’s a special occasion spot.

Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Honestly I would give this place 4.5 stars if I could, but this place deserves to be rounded up as opposed to down. Why would I dock? Its pretty much in the middle of nowhere, an Its a dollar or few overpriced. Now onto the good good! ==================== First of all, any time that I see XO sauce on any menu, I will be ordering it. The calamari appetizer delights on all accords. I know fried calamari seems basic, but it IS easy to mess up, and this version does the exact opposite of messing it up. And that XO dipping sauce! Heaven Jagger went for the Thai Sour Soup, so good. An instant addiction. Think sweet and sour soup, but taken to levels unknown. like Hot and sour soup 3.0. All of the seafood provides a really nice sweet note to the sour sauce with the lemongass and kefir lime. One of the coolest and most unique aspects of Wild Ginger is their sushi. Expect to spend upwards of $ 15 for any of their signature rolls but also expect to get what you pay for. I’m not a huge fan of cream cheese inside of sushi, so on one trip I ventured to the Vamp Roll, and on another trip I went for the 288 Roll. Both were unique and delicious. However the real aspect of the sushi that I wanted to bring light to was the fact that you can opt for the sushi rice to be replaced with wild(!) rice. Its something like a $ 2 upcharge but certainly worth it, at least just to try once. It completely changes the textural aspects of the rolls. It also makes them super healthy! Unique. ====== All in all, would I suggest this place? If you live downtown, its honestly not quite worth the trip, but If you live in Chesterfield or Henrico, its definitely a date-night destination.

Really tasty sushi, hands down. Walking in I thought I was a bit under dressed by looking at the other patrons in the establishment, but I honestly didn’t care. Our server was friendly and attentive. I was –really– shocked to see Hardywood’s Gingerbread Stout sold in bottled form here, so I took full advantage. The rolls are a bit pricey @ 10 – 15 $ per but well worth it. They taste fresh, and the combinations are pretty unique. Their lobster roll was damn good.
