Lila boulommavong does amazing work! Highly recommend. She is the sweetest person and really makes sure you love your hair before leaving. I’m always amazed by her work! She provides suggestions on color and which shades matches most with your skin tone, which I appreciate. The shop is located in union heights. Beautifully decorated.

Ok so getting a good hair cut can sometimes be a total nightmare. It is really hard to find a stylist that gets the job done well and knows what style you are looking for. Most of the times, the hair cuts I had were always disappointing. This Lunatic Fringe location however, impressed me from the first time. I went in and had a hair cut done be Lila and I can say I was happy about it. She is very talented and knows how to get a style that fits you. This location is also very nice. They offer great services and you really look forward to having a hair cut. Love that they rinse and wash your hair before and after the hair cut. You leave not feeling all itchy like when you do at other places. They also have a great section for products. You get $ 10 off any product if you mention Unilocal. So if you’re looking for a place that will style your hair, then I totally recommend this place.

Great experience today with Morgan as my stylist. I will definitely be back to see her. Much better than my nightmare experience at City Creek!

I asked for red hot hair and Lauren delivered beyond my expectations! Not only did she get the vibrant red I had been hoping for but she did it flawlessly. Her shampoo and head massage are mind blowing, she’s amazing. I’ve only changed hair dressers twice in my life(once when I moved to Chicago and now) and now that I have Lauren I’m set for life!

I have always gone to the cheapest salons in the past or used boxed hair dye at home and I was unsure what I was walking into. The studio was really cute and very clean. I was given Lauren as my hairstylist. I told her exactly what I wanted… basically everything opposite of what was currently going on. I had boxed red henna dye that had been bleached a few times and redyed over a few more times. I. Was. A. Giant. Mess. But Lauren was gentle with my hair and had gave me a the purple ombré that I was looking for. I would highly recommend asking for Lauren for your next appointment.

Getting your haircut is like going to the dentist. You know there is going to be some nervousness while you’re sitting in their chair, but I feel like that nervousness should be minimal because I am putting a great deal of trust in the assumption that you are well trained and an expert in this field. This is why I came to Lunatic Fringe. They have the reputation of being the best salon here in Utah with several locations, and not to mention their stylists don’t ask you weird questions that make you feel like this is their first job since Dollar Cuts. I’m a savvy Unilocaler so I checked the reviews before choosing a stylist. Ask for Lauren like the other reviews say, she is PHENOMENAL! For me she specializes in fades, so I go back every 3 weeks or so and she makes me look and feel like I belong in a Pinterest blog for men’s style. Women interested in getting their hair colored should go to Lauren as well. My last time at Lunatic Fringe I got to see some of the photos of her past colorings and they were incredible. Luckily I have the dreamy blond color and curls everyone in the world would die to have so I only stop in for haircuts, but if you’re trying to reinvent your look or try something new I would suggest Lunatic Fringe.

Just okay. It’s nicely furnished and clean though. The people here are nice and friendly. Cuts start at $ 40, which is reasonable. They also use really great products(bumble & bumble, keratase). Free deep conditioning for first timers, and they have a point reward system that you exchange for discounts. Be careful. They offer discounts if you post a review on Unilocal/Google. They read it before giving me the discount, making me feel obligated to give a good review(which I adjusted of course) so reviews may be biased.

I didn’t even get the opportunity to schedule an appointment. The receptionist was rude and hung up on me twice. I don’t care if you can turn hair into gold, I won’t support any business with poor customer service.

Excellent place. I’ve been hunting for a good salon since moving from Los Angeles and I’ve finally found it. I had my hair cut with Morgan and she was as good as it gets for mens hair cuts. She even offered to use a straight razor to trim my neck. Excellent scalp massage as well during the hair wash and rinse. She is also very talented with scissors and knows how to cut fine, straight hair properly. First thing she pointed out was that I had a cowlick and made sure to cut the hair properly so it wouldn’t stick up in the back. I highly recommend her and Lunatic Fringe @ Union Heights :)

It’s been about 2 weeks and I am sufficiently less traumatized, though no less irritated at the incompetence. As stated previously, the manager, Jamie, arranged for me to come back the next day to fix the hack job that was an extension of Josh’s scissors. Jamie did not introduce himself when I arrived, nor did he make a point to introduce himself at anytime during my visit(nor did he follow-up with a phone call). This is a huge faux pas for any salon and shows a complete lack of class. Pride in your work, who you are and the styles that are given are a reflection of your salon. Ultimately — not taking time to think about how to execute the cut Josh started with my bangs — they were un-even at best and looked horrible when I left the salon. He cut the bangs on the left and the right too short for the look I wanted. Leaving the pieces longer on the left and right would have elongated my face — instead the cut now accentuates the roundness and squareness of my face(exactly what I was trying to avoid). It looks the same as when I cut my bangs myself a year ago. After two weeks of trying different styling products and tools, I styled my hair this morning and am still disappointed. It will take at least 6 months(probably longer) to grow my hair out again so that I can achieve the look that I want; this is extremely disappointing given that I had grown my hair out for almost a year before visiting the salon. I felt the need to follow-up because I saw the cut I wanted on TV this morning and then I looked in the mirror — and it makes me feel a little bit sick — but mostly just sad. Wishing I had been paying more attention. If I had gone to a less expensive salon I could have given the stylist step-by-step instructions on how to execute the cut and the stylist probably would’ve taken more time to consider how to approach the cut before picking up his or her scissors. It is always frustrating to pay someone to do something when you could have done a better job yourself for free(yes I cut my own bangs last summer and everyone told me they looked great).

I don’t mind spending money on getting my hair cut. I would rate this place one of the best in Utah just because the owners really work with their employees in development of their careers. This means they get trained and work on creating great hair.

How to begin? I’ve been on the search for a salon for almost a year here in the valley, and finally I have one to call home. Based off a recommendation from a friend, I decided to drive twenty min down on the interstate to check this place out and give it a shot. I have never had a better haircut or a better experience at a salon: Bonus #1 — First timers get a complimentary conditioning treatment. On a dry winter Utah day, my hair feels the softest it has ever been. Bonus #2 — The salon has a rewards program for referrals/checking in/booking appointments. The rewards allow you to accumulate points for $ off. Bonus #3 — My stylist, Brendon. Such a sweetheart. And he totally listened to what I wanted! He even explained some of the things he was doing; it was very helpful and educating. My hair has never looked this good, ever. He makes my long blonde hair with layers look absolutely fabulous. I told him I can’t believe I had been settling for less! I definitely am going back to him again. Bonus #4 — They include a scalp massage with the shampoo/conditioning: so relaxing. Bonus #5 — Overall good service. They offer beverages and snacks to guests, and create a chic, relaxing environment with the right amount of energy. Good music ambience, friendly staff, and complimentary stylists. I’ve never felt so flattered about my hair! If you want the best haircut in the valley and an incredible experience, go here! I’m not sure what all their rates are, but my cut with Brendon ran at $ 40. It varies between stylists, but honestly, for a once every two months trip, it’s totally worth it.

Was searching for a new salon after my old stylist moved away. After trying two or three other places I gave Lunatic a try. Great experience! Jared was super friendly and gave me great color and cut. Everything about this place is about customer service. Kinda expensive but you get what you pay for. Needs a better sign, it gets kinda lost in all the business’ in the Movie complex.
