Airport restaurant FAIL — «Re+Bar no 9» at Terminal A Houston Bush airport. I know this listing is for the one in San Diego. But, since I couldn’t find anywhere else to post: The one in Houst ISNOT either a restaurant or bar, in any reasonable sense of those terms, just wasted space & bad service. They wasted space that could have been bar seating with annoying overpriced cold To-Go sandwiches and registers, where they had plenty of other space for those to the side. They don’t have proper wait service either. Their food us sub-bar, even for airport food. You are better off going to one of the other bad food options in this terminal for a quick bite and then paying too much to get access to the United Airlines lounge where at least you will get friendly bar service. I could take over this space and double the people served, give better service, better food, and generate at least 200% more turnover in the same footprint, and better serve passengers. I will NOT look forward to flying into or out of this terminal of Houston at any future point. COMPLETEFAIL.

This is easily the best place to eat in this airport. Their hot paninis at the kiosk are the same price($ 10) as the premade cold sandwiches in all of the refrigerator cases, and they are MUCH tastier.

I know, I know, there are now much«better» drink options in this terminal while waiting for your flight, but I’d have to disagree, friends. I had a few hours to kill before flying to SF a few weeks ago so I posted up at my old faithful, ReBar No. 9. I’ve been coming here for years and I just like it. No real rhyme or reason other than it just feels like the kind of bars I like to go to — boozin’ without any gimmicks, bells or whistles. On this particular visit I have to shout out the bartender C.T. He was able to chat everyone up with solid and interesting conversation while seamlessly slinging drinks. We talked about Unilocal for a bit and I listened to his frustrations as a bartender. He didn’t know I worked for Unilocal at first, but after we breached that talking point we were able to listen to both sides of the story — he’s a smart dude who rules at his job, hence the passion in the convo. A few drinks later it felt like we were old friends and it further strengthened why I like bars like this… real people shooting the s#it over a few adult beverages while waiting for delayed flights. Hard to find these days, ya know? Keep doing what you are doing, CT and I will see you next time I have a delayed flight, which seems like every time.

Kudos to Shanna! San Diego airport is all but deserted as the Superbowl starts up. We will be in the air for the completion so are hanging out at ReBar now to watch as long as we can. Shanna is likely overwhelmed, being the only bar person on tap for a large crew of guests overflowing the small space. She is trying to find space for everyone and even rounded up a few more bar stools. Fat tips from all of us as we fly back to Seattle all juiced up! Go Hawks!

When you’re flying to Cabo you want to start the party early. ReBar # 9 is pricey but it’s in an airport. It’s the same price as anywhere else in Terminal 1 and 2. It’s 2 bucks for an additional shot if you REALLY want to get your drink on. But the Cabo flight is short so I opted to single shot it so I wouldn’t be hammered upon arrival. Lot’s a cool faltbreads to choose from. Enough beers on tap to make most travelers happy. Wes and Shaina were great company and great servers. The only downer is the couple next to us appeared to be gearing up to be members of the mile high club. It was pretty gross. So what did we do? We drank more.

Gotta get that drink on before you board your plane to Cabo? Well this is your spot. We arrived 2 hours early and need some winding down time. Well, we got it. Re+Bar in Terminal 1 is the place to get it going. I have few minutes to write this so facts… bloodys are great. Order doubles and they are spicy. Exactly how I love em. Food? Yeah, they’ve got it. Flat bread pizzas, sandwiches, micro brews… it’s all here. Get ready for that blast off. Ask Shainna, Wess for your fav drinks. They’ll steer you toward that perfect concoction you need for lift off. the unsung heros of travel, Shainna and Wes will start you vacation off the right way.

Server was nice and quick to be of assistance. The food was not good, but it was edible. This wing of the airport has 4 places you can get food and only 2 you can get a drink from. Most are to-go locations. This was one of two spots where you could get hot food. I ordered the bianca pizza. The sundried tomatoes, balsamic and spinach created a weird flavor in my mouth that I didn’t really like. I think perhaps I just don’t really dig sundried tomatoes though. For almost $ 12, it was a bit of a rip. They have sandwiches too, which you can peruse in the to go section. They do not make you a fresh one if you order on the sit down side, so might as well pick the exact one you want before sitting down on the other side. Will I be back? Maybe, if I am trapped in this concourse again and need a drink. Otherwise I’ll probably take my chances with the California Pizza Kitchen take away stand near gate 28.

Ok I’m glad the finally put this here after long months of nothing here at the airport. A lot of people needs to take a shot cause they worry me. Lol this will calm their nerves before flying. I can say the staff is friend cause I know a few lol.

I have no anxiety flying, but many people do and being the only bar within the terminal this tiny side shoot bar is often packed. I see a few different kinds of drinkers here. The suited businessman, the vacationing layover-er, the less experienced traveler here to sit down rest their feet and unwind and then then myself. Not gonna lie that most of the times I fly it’s for pleasure and I’m usually taking time off work and if I’m taking time off work it’s basically vacation from the time I clock out and yes I’m getting turn’t up right away. You have to pass security so don’t’ come waltzing through after a few highballs, so terminal drinking(actually sounds bad now that I type it) is the only way to «find you beach» before the flight. Tip: Vape friendly unless asked not to. Since most of the terminal is not vape friendly and you’ll be talked to about it, if not worse by someone who probably doesn’t have jurisdiction. I found my drinks to be strong or maybe it’s because I was wearing sunglasses at night and starting basically a weeklong bender. It is small, maybe enough room for 20 people and their carry on luggage(though some people carry on way too much). Service was actually very quick from my server who was nice, but not friendly. Probably more hurried. Price was about right for an airport mixed drink. I actually grabbed a bag of chips which is weird for me, but the Ms. Vicks S&V were quite good and kind of large. There is no view really and it’s oddly shaped near the vending machines, bathrooms and kitchen. It’s just entirely too small. Beers on tap were ok considering the craft scene here in SD is among the best in the nation. I doubt I will be eating here as I saw a woman take 2 bites of her sandwich and toss it away without a 2nd thought, continue to pug her beer and leave a $ 20 without remorse. I love alcohol, but I love food way more if that tells you anything.

Remember that one time you got raped and liked it? Me either. Yet, I INSIST on drinking at airports. Maybe therapy would be cheaper but how can I keep my beer belly?!? A draft here will run you about $ 8. On the bright side the staff here seem to have a genuine kindness that makes it all worth it. I would make catty comments about the clientele but then I would have to have one of those man in the mirror moments that I am not prepared for(re: therapy)

Service was fast and pleasant. $ 9.10 including tax for a large Sam Adams plus tip so came to $ 11.00. Airport prices always shock me but still not a bad way to start a red-eye flight to the east coast.

No great shakes… bar service with several respectable names on tap… not much in the way of food choices. We arrived at San Diego Terminal 2 at 1:30PM for what turned out to be a 4:30PM departure. Hoping to find a restaurant, with or without a bar, no great choices. Everything seems to be cold, in a box, or processed and reheated in a convection oven. There is no ‘preparation’, only unwrapping and reheating, it appears. Sat down and enjoyed a Jack and Coke and a glass of merlot. Both were adequately prepared. No contact with the waitress beyond her taking our order and returning our drinks. The bar was not very busy…2 people at the bar, taken care of by the bartender, 2 tables with 2 people each… Plenty of screens for golf/motocross/whatever else was on Sunday afternoon. About typical on the pricing… we will be back as it is 1 of 2 choices presently available behind security at Terminal 2.

I wasn’t overally impressed with this new bar in Terminal 1. As of now, they do not serve food which is one of the main reasons why I post up here prior to my flights. While you can go around the corner and purchase snacks, it’s not the same as relaxing with a glass of wine and enjoying a nice salad or appetizer. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating, but it just wasn’t the same as before. Also, they changed up all their beers and my regular staples aren’t there anymore. Can’t a girl get a 22oz Bud Light and enjoy herself? Sheesh. With that being said, it was fine and I was able to pass the time nicely, but I miss the old stomping grounds from before. I guess they will be putting in a kitchen with food in the near future, so I will have to try it out again, but until then I’ll have to suck it up.

L I Q U I D C H O I C E S Sam Adams IPA, Ballast Point pale ale, Blue Moon, Miller Lite draft, plus a large selection of liquor for mixed drinks. E D I B L E S Salads and sandwiches. Pop Chip brand variety. Pre-packaged. Didn’t have high expectations but it did the job for filling my hungry tummy before a long flight. Friendly service. Very new company… Still working on kinks… Hopefully service doesn’t go to shit as with rest of airport. Airport prices.
