I’m clueless enough to not understand the distinction that makes this Hawaiian Korean BBQ, but the food is so good that I don’t need to know. This restaurant is tucked in the back of Ok Ko Mart, a Del City Korean grocery store. The Galbi, beef short ribs, is cut more thickly here than at other restaurants. Due to it’s thickness, it is tender, fatty, and delicious. They get a nice char on the meat, and it has the traditional Korean BBQ sweetness. I always end up getting the Galbi because I don’t drive out here that often. It’s about a 20 minute drive for me, but it’s worth it! I took my mom once, and she ordered chicken teriyaki and liked it. Sometime I want to try the kimchi soup because I’ve heard it is excellent. All of their dishes are served with Korean side dishes, including kimchi and pickled zucchini. Their kimchi is amazing, but it is not sold in the store. I wish they would sell their kimchi in jars to take home. I would suggest buying your drinks at a gas station or fast food place before you go. They only have water and aren’t very good about refilling drinks. The best way to eat here is to get the to go. When I went yesterday, their AC was having problems, and it was HOT in the store. Still giving 5 stars because that’s just how good the food is.

Definitely a hole in the wall restaurant. Not being from here, I would have never guessed that there would have been a restaurant in there. We had to wait a few minutes before they noticed us, and then had to wait a little while for them to cook the food. There was also a little bit of a language barrier. The food, however, was EXCELLENT! We got the teriyaki chicken and the barbecue chicken. The serving sizes are large, so be ready to eat!

Pros: — Food — The market — The employees Cons: — The location. Not because of the area, really. The neighborhood is neither here nor there. But it’s too far from me and I disapprove of that. **RESTAURANT** Any time someone prefaces a review with«The outside doesn’t look like much, but…», I’m like«wat». But what? The small, simple places have the best food most of the time. If I see a rinky-dink looking outside, I’m more likely to want to eat there. Advice from me to you. You’re welcome. Walk in and wander toward the back and to the left. There are a few tables, and the folk working the kitchen are more than likely in the kitchen preparing food and such. When I went, a mom and son were also there to eat. Along with that, it looked like they were preparing a fair amount of pick-up orders. So either sit quietly and wait for them to come out and notice you, or… hover near the kitchen door-frame? I personally chose the sit down and wait method, which worked out just fine. After(or before if you want?) you order, just grab yourself a Styrofoam cup and get some water from the Ozarka cooler by the kitchen. That’s all I wanted, so I’m not sure what the drink situation is other than that. The ajumma who took my order and everything was a very sweet lady. She even politely accepted my awkward«jal meo-geo-sseum-ni-da», which means«I ate well» but is actually saying«Thank you for the food» when it comes right down to it. I’m probably totally lame for it, but I’m lame in general. By polite, I mean she asked me «You speak Korean?» as if my ham-handed«thank you» would imply that I do. But thanks for the encouragement, ma’am! Soondubu jjigae(5⁄5): I’m sure if I’d ever been to Korea, this might warrant a 3 or 4, but I haven’t so I have no idea. I just happened to really enjoy what I got here at the Ok Ko Mart restaurant. Eeee. It was a little bit spicy, but not too much. I didn’t specify a spice level, but they probably assumed I couldn’t handle much. In my case, they’re spot on. But I’m sure if you’re a spicy person, they’d gladly kick it up upon request. The soft tofu tasted perfectly cooked to me, and there were also bits of seafood(like squid/octopus, I couldn’t tell which since they were lil’ whole ones here and there. Probably octopus? I digress.). As per jjigae law, the dish came out bubbling like a lava pit. Tread carefully, my children. Banchan items: I’d be lying if I said I knew what every item was. I recognized the kimchi, bean sprouts, and cabbage. There was also a pickled vegetable dish that I lean toward being cucumber but it also could have been zucchini. Either way, the pickled vegetable dish was good. There was also a namul dish that was a dark leafy vegetable that I can’t quite peg(Sigeumchi/spinach?). I really enjoyed the(possible) sigeumchi, though! My entire meal cost $ 7.99 and was beyond filling. **STORE** It’s a small building, for sure. Furthermore, I’m no Korean cook. BUT this place sure does seem to have a lot of essential items along with the snacks and candies. Honestly, I almost always want Korean food. So if I need a few Korean items for cooking, I’d make the excuse of «Well, might as well make the drive over to Ok Ko and kill two birds with one stone» even though I could totally just get the same items at Super Cao Nguyen. In the freezer area, there was quite a lot of product. The back ones seem to hold the kimchi and all the side dishes they use in the restaurant. So you know I grabbed a few things. Other than that, the store is stocked with cooking oils, pastes, spices, etc. There’s an aisle for ramen and curry, and rice of course.

Not gonna lie, I was skeptical when we pulled into the parking lot, when we walked through the market, when we saw a few tables and no one in sight. The phone rang and this sweet lady walked out of the kitchen and answered it ‘hello’, so if you’re looking for any sort of formality, don’t look here. But if you want amazing food, put this place on the top of your list! I saw a review that said it was a mix of Filipino, Korean and Hawaiian and it’s an accurate description, except it’s as good as any of those that I experienced while we lived on Hawaii. Portions were enough that we had a huge box of leftovers. Everything we tried was awesome so go… try it all, you won’t regret it. If we lived in the area, we’d eat here at least weekly.

After trying this place out, ate the Hawaiian mix plate, there is no reason to go to Hawaii for korean bbq. I lived in Hawaii for 10 years, it tastes just like I bought it in hawaii. No mac salad though…

EXCELLENT Food! Wonderful Mixed Plate! Best Kal-bi in OKC! Vegetables were very deliciously done. If you’re from Hawaii and want to eat some real«Ono» Korean food, you have got to come here for lunch!

I have to go here at least twice a month, since the Kimchi and other pickled items are way better than what they have available at a normal grocery store/Asian market. I literally buy 95% of their radish and sprouts every time I go. I bring a giant lunchbox to hold them all. The only reason I don’t buy all of it is because I feel like an ass if I don’t leave a couple boxes. The restaurant is good too, though I prefer Seoul Garden simply due to portion size and cost. The quality at this restaurant(Hawaiian BBQ) is higher though. Seriously though, this is one of maybe three places in OKC that I am guaranteed to go to regularly, so I am more or less obligated to give it 5 stars.

Yes! What in the world is this doing in Midwest City? No, seriously, please move this to Edmond. I had the bulgogi(beef($ 10 dinner portion)), it was insanely delicious and a ton of food. The kimchi they give you is made in-house and can compete with the best of them. Once you order your food, take the 5−10min to browse through the grocery store you’re standing in and pick up some ramen, soy sauce, housemade kimchi and anything else your cute little Okie heart desires. Don’t forget to banter with the cashier, she’s absolutely hilarious. But don’t take my word for it, go get you some!(said in an Okie accent)

I continue to come here every chance I get. The food is top notch and oh so tasty. You can’t go wrong with anything you order here. Hint: Try the Meat Jun.

Upon arrival I thought this was just a regular store, with the Asian goods. When I walked towards the back I noticed a sign saying Hawaiian BBQ. I haven’t been in Hawaii for like last 3 months so I really missed Hawaiian food. When I inspected the menu, there was nothing Hawaiian about it. It was mainly Korean BBQ. But I decided to order and try it anyways. The food was a 3⁄5 it was okay, not the best but not to bad either. I guess because I’m from Hawaii. It’s just not the same to me. :/

It may not look like a high-end restaurant, but the food definitely is. Tucked in the back of a small Korean market, they are quite literally a hole in the wall. Ranging from traditional Korean dishes to your basic Hawaiian BBQ, I will never get tired of eating here. Make sure you have a large appetite, because not only are the entrée portions are large, but no matter which ethnicity your food is, they always come with infinite Korean side-dishes. Their rice portion is also quite hefty compared to other Asian restaurants. I have eaten here about 4 or 5 times, I can’t remember because I come to the market just to buy Asian ingredients as well. The Bulgogi and Hawaiian BBQ are my go-to, but I also like their Jigae and Bibimbap as well. I will be returning here for lunch and dinner many times more. I recommend their mixed plate for a first time try!

Love this place. Yes, it is in the back part of a sketchy looking grocery store and the kitchen might not all be up to code, but trust me, once you get your food you will not think another thing about it! Great Korean food and in Oklahoma for goodness sakes! I used to live in Hawaii and was really craving meat jun and bulgiogi so I gave this place a shot. Both were excellent and came with all the typical sides. My boyfriend loved the homemade kimchi(personally, I am not a fan) and we shoveled in the bean sprouts. I would have to suggest you skip the mandoo; though it was pretty good I did see the cook pull it out of the freezer and dump it out of a premade bag. As a side note, you will probably have to get up and get your own water(no ice) but you can also grab a drink from the grocery store if you want.

What a great find to get authentic Korean food in the middle of Oklahoma. If you’re driving through and are looking for something close to the freeway, this is a great spot to visit. The place is located inside a little Korean market and run by a nice little Asian lady who cooked up a very authentic meal. I had the. mixed plate and having lived in Hawaii for many years, it wasn’t bad I would say it was great for having this place in Oklahoma where I’m sure it’s hard to get Korean food, let alone authentic Asian food. They also give a to of food. I think I could have made 3 meals our of this but since I didn’t have access to a fridge, I didn’t eat it all. Always, you should come if you’re looking for authentic and inexpensive Korean food.

Small little place with about 6 tables. It looks like it runs by two people, the lady runs the front and the old guy cooks. Great food, lots of food for reasonable price. We wouldn’t even have know this place was there if we didn’t look it up on Unilocal

No need to go into the description of this place, everyone else seems to have that locked down. I’ll just say this place is the best Korean in the world compared to the place around the corner, but overall, about a 4. VERY solid and I enjoyed it. I think the only thing I wasn’t super thrilled about was that the Bulgogi was just a tad on the sweet side for my tastes. But it was a good cut of meat, cooked properly, good portions, etc. The Kimchee was definitely top notch and some of the best Ive had. I will definitely be back!

Oh my! This was one delicious meal. I had the bbq spare ribs and it hit me in the right spot. It was the right amount of texture and flavor. There was enough fat to make the spare ribs juicy. I cannot have enough of it! It makes my mouth waters as I’m writing this review. The only reason why I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 was the side dishes. They were ehh.ok. I will definitely come back whenever I’m craving for spare ribs.

I’ve known of this place for a very long time and been to the market more than once. But for some reason never tried it and alway ate at all the other Korean restaurant, recently I did come try the food and it was really good but today Im back again with a friend. This time having the pork barbecue spicy with rice. My Besty had the barbecue short ribs. I must say when I tried her short ribs man they where yummy. I didn’t want to tell her I want to eat all her food and give her mine. I did clean my plate of all the food I had on it. I think the reason why I never tried this Korean hidden gem is because it’s in the grocery store which looks so plain and ordinary. Have to say right now in time this is the best value for Korean food that you will find here in Oklahoma.

Yummy yummy yummy! No complaints here. I’ve only tried the kalbi and bulgogi and both were the best I’ve had in OKC. Sooooooo good. My son who is 2-years old couldn’t stop eating the kalbi so, I had to make another order togo! The lady was too nice and gave us a free side of bulgogi too. The restaurant itself is inside the ok ko-mart market. I want to try their BBQ chicken lunch special next time soon, yummy!

Nom nom nom nom Hawaiian/Korean style BBQ meat is tasty yum yum in my tum. You have to walk to the back left side of the market to find the«restaurant» portion. Don’t expect anything fancy folks… Looks like it’s run by family and friends. They cook everything to order so it will take 10 – 15 mins. Luckily you’re in a market and can buy snacks to tide you over. I ordered the mixed lunch platter which came with chicken, bulgogi, pork, bowl of kimchi(not super spicy, which is good for me), mac salad, pickled cucumber(or zuccini, I could’t tell) and rice. The lunch specials cost around $ 6-$ 10 bucks. Totally worth it in my eyes.
