I don’t know about you, but I do not like going to the doctor. Dentist, general practitioner, dermatologist. I don’t discriminate, I dislike them all equally. Dr Chiara on the other hand is the exception to this rule. Him and his staff make it easy and dare I say, pleasant, to set up an appointment and be treated.
It is not that I am ‘afraid’ of any doctor, the problem which I have is that we hold an extremely busy schedule. There is nothing more irksome than to need help, have to wait several days for an appointment and then once you show up on time find out the doctor is running behind. Well — not here, friends. I have never had to wait, and we have always been able to get in easily.
We live in Northville and happily drive out to Milford for our appointments. Sure we could find a doctor locally, however we genuinely love this doctor and his staff enough to make the trek out. They do have an office in Novi, which is neat if like us you live closer to that area. The doctor is in Novi on Wednesdays.
Lisa and Oxana (the doctor’s wife) are wonderful and go above and beyond to help with anything you may need. Doctor Chiara himself is a great doctor whom listens to his patients and works extremely hard to run an efficient, friendly and professional practice. He will remember you if you come in frequently, and has amazing stories to tell about one of his many world travels. You are a person and a friend, and not just a number here.

I am hesitant to write this review because finding a god doc is hard to do and letting others know is likely to impact my ability to be seen as quickly as I’d like… that being said I’ll risk letting you (just you) know about Doc Chiara.
His Milford office is just South of downtown Milford on the West side of Main (Milford Rd). Parking is free, close and there were plenty of spaces open for my visit. (One Star)
It was easy to make the appointment and I was scheduled for the same week. (One Star) I arrived spot on at the designated time and after completing obligatory insurance forms I was in an examination room within 10 minutes. (One Star)
Dr. Chiara is personable, low key and easy to talk with. He is an expert in the field and has informed opinions as to what works and what doesn’t. My dermatologist in LA was good too, yet, he wanted to up sell potions and lotions galore. Dr. Chiara only sells a handful (maybe one product in different forms) — all of which he has compounded specifically for his practice and the cost — not $ 100 not $ 50 not $ 25 but just $ 12 — guessing slightly over his costs. I didn’t buy any but was significantly impressed that he wasn’t trying to capitalize on selling products but simply making a living being a dermatologist in a small town. (One Star)
He did a mole check, a minor removal, and a recommendation to come back in a year. There were a variety of patients across the age spectrum coming through the office during my visit and a good vibe from the staff where everyone seemed to get along. (One star)
Overall, solid easy going dermatologist, good location, nice staff, and no up selling of products\procedures. I am sure you can find a fancier office and more products to buy a short drive towards AA or Birmingham but if you want a great dermatologist just down the road (or worth a drive), Doc Chiara is the one I recommend.
