The overall experience was good. I will say this is a no frills dining experience. It’s tiny inside the casual dining area and I can tell they do a lot more take out. The prices are reasonable though and the quality of food is great. We started off with wonton soup which was underwhelming and lacked so much flavor. It was the only negative. The wontons were good but the fried pork dumplings which came next were Amazing! The quality was excellent and simply delicious. I was impressed! The chicken and broccoli and pork fried rice followed. Both were delicious. The rice was moist and full of flavor. The chicken was moist and cooked perfect. The broccoli was fresh but could be a little softer. Service was super and not over the top. I would recommend and return for years to come!

Been there three times already & will be back regularly. The hot and sour soup is probably some of the best I’ve had. The boneless pork ribs is sliced roast pork, but that’s OK by me, a little less fatty than the ribs — besides, my wife is a rib fan, not me. Good egg fu young(not on the menu — again my wife), but the lamb with scallions & onions is great. The lamb can be a bit more tender(use the velveting technique), but the flavour is there. Great scallion pancakes & the egg rolls are very tasty. Ma Po Do Fu is also worthy. The cabbage&pork dumplings were very fine as well. Since I’ve done takeout, I’m loathe to order soup dumplings & have them travel. They are designed to be consumed quickly, so I’ll pass on them until I can sit in their dining room, sparse as it is. But, fresh dumplings? I’ll be looking at the plate, not the surroundings. This place is on a par with Lao Sze Tuan just a mile or so up the Post Road. Their menu is different, so the places complement each other. I hate to make choices. The owner and his wife & son are very pleasant. He just needs to make an adjustment on the online menu to specify wonton & egg drop soup combo — again my wife. But if you order 1 small size of each(or one large of each) & combine them — presto, problem solved.

This place is fantastic. The owners are so friendly and make me feel so welcome. Great tasting Szechuan style food. I love the BBQ Pork Buns, the dumplings are also fantastic. Dan Dan Noodles are very spicy and peanutty(not a real word, I know!). I’ve tried a few chicken dishes, which were good. The Yangchow rice was amazing. We didn;t know what it was, so we asked the owner. She explained that it was a more authentic style fried rice, made with salt instead of soy(so we wouldn’t be surprised by how light colored it was). I love how she shared her knowledge of regional cooking and explained the differences between American and Chinese preferences. This has quickly become a regular stop for me and my husband after visiting Walnut Beach for a walk.

Ok dumpling house. You have redeemed yourself. I was going to eat leftovers last night, I really was(I’m currently eating said leftovers as I write this) BUT a friend of mine kept talking about Sichuan cuisine and god dammnit… I wanted some. So my place down the road doesn’t deliver but dumpling house… dumpling house definitely does… and QUICKLY,…and my delivery boy even gave me a little wink. Hey honey ;). It’s so simple. Your order online. you add a tip. you pay with your card. you eat. The eating. Had an option of white or brown rice(awesome.) There is «american» chinese which I always opt out of and they have authentic. I ordered the shrimp crystal dumpling… like gumdrops. polished those off real quick. The crispy spicy chicken(extra spicy) the spicy cabbage… extra spicy and hot sauce on the side… I received authentic and also the chinese kind in the plastic packet. Everything was very good if not BETTERTHAN the place down the road(that does not deliver). This is a definite win in my book. So why not 5 stars? As I have said before… many ethnic restaurants are constantly dumbing down the spice levels… I WANTTOBURNMYFACEOFF… hence the side of hot sauce… greatly appreciated :)

YES! this place is awesome. Authentic Szechuan faire, excellent dumpling specials. Small dining area and I am not sure they have a drink menu.

I was planning a small lunch event and needed some finger foods. Ordered a big batch of pan fried vegetarian dumplings and pork/shrimp dumplings and they were a hit. They were gone super fast. The owners even opened up 30 minutes earlier so we could pick the order up early.

Three of us had a great meal here and we are experienced eaters. Soup dumplings are a winner, beans were super. All tasty and well prepared.

I’m not that much of a fan of dumplings, but my girlfriend loves them, so once I knew about this place, it was just a matter of how soon we’d go. Inside, it looks like a pretty typical to-go Chinese food restaurant, with a spacious room adjacent to the order pick-up desk, that has about 4 – 6 tables, just in case the patrons want to eat there. The hostess was very gracious and made us feel very welcome. I had a chicken casserole plate that looked pretty good. It was fine, but not great. My girlfriend, however, was over the moon with the dumplings, so for that reason alone, we’ll visit again some time. I’m not too worried, because their menu has many, many entrees to choose from. I’ll take the challenge of finding something I’d love in it. If you like dumplings, apparently, this is the place to go.

Ordered from here one weeknight online to grab on my way home from work. Loved their pan fried pork dumplings, chicken with broccoli and fried pork buns. I will order again and have already recommended this«dumpling» of a find to others. Reasonable prices, they also deliver and they have many options to choose from.

Drove 1hr all the way from Stamford because I was craving Szechuan food. At first, we were hesitant because there was no one else in the restaurant. But once the food arrived, I knew the trip was absolutely worth it. The restaurant exterior and décor doesn’t look like much but the service and food are outstanding. I had the braised beef in chili sauce, beef slices/tripe in chili sauce, and the crispy chicken with chilis. I regularly eat Szechuan food in flushing, chinatown, and at home. Each dish was authentically Szechuan and delicious. The service was very quick, attentive and friendly. The cook/manager came out herself to thank us for coming. It looks like its run by a very hard-working Chinese family. I only wish the restaurant was closer to me so I could come more frequently. Despite its distance, I am sure this will become a go-to spot for me whenever I want authentic Szechuan food. I have tried many spots and in my opinion this is the best Szechuan food available around New Haven and Fairifeld county. For such a great establishment, it deserves more customers.

This time we ordered entrees. Absolutely Fantastic! Better than the Szechuan we had in New York City two weeks ago(which was very good, see review). For those people thinking this is Americanized Chinese, please understand it is not. They do offer a few dishes which will still appeal but really this is authentic, tasty and spicy. My wife likes dishes less spicy so we simply ask them to tone it down. The atmosphere is casual and the family who runs this place are great!

What a great find! I’m a big dim-sum fan, so this place really hit the spot when a huge dumpling craving came on. The menu is very extensive, going well beyond just dumplings. Tried the pork soup dumplings, vegetable dumplings, pork and cabbage dumplings, and shrimp shumai. All were great. Really loved the vegetable dumplings, and soup dumplings are generally a favorite of mine(these soup dumpling were good but could have been just a *bit* more soupy on the inside). Shrimp shumai — as well as the rest of the dumplings — were clearly made by hand which I so appreciated! Usually shrimp shumai are these sad, pre-packaged things, but I knew these were the real deal. The flavor is pretty mild, but a good dunk in the accompanying sauce does the trick. The other thing we ordered as per a few recommendations in the other reviews was the Dan Dan noodle dish. At first this was on the painfully-spicy side(all the sauce is on the bottom and you have to mix it in)…but the flavor is really addicting in a way I can’t describe and we kept wanting to eat more even though we had to go through a few glasses of water to remedy the heat. I had some leftovers and they were just as amazing a few days later… I’m still kind of dreaming about those noodles. The prices are also incredibly cheap. Each dumpling dish is somewhere around $ 4-$ 5 and incredibly filling. I think the noodles were also in this ballpark. The only reason I’m taking off a star is that the atmosphere was a little… strange? For a while it was just my table and another group, and so quiet you could hear a pin drop. I felt really self conscious about talking and being the only sound in the place. Even when a couple more tables were seated(still, relatively empty for a Friday night), it remained so incredibly quiet. I think it’d be a lot better if there was some music or a tv or something. I’m not into loud restaurants. but this is the first time I was so bothered by complete quiet. Like dining in a library. I don’t know. Maybe I’m the only person who feels weird about this… ANYWAY — it’s definitely worth coming over here at some point!

This was my second visit, and I will definitely be back for more. We started with hot & sour soup, and it was the best I’ve had in a very long time, enough pepper to bring the heat without overwhelming the other flavors. The pork dumplings in chili sauce are out of this world. On our first visit we had two servings of these and one serving of a chicken dumping and along with the hot & sour soup, called it a meal. This time we had one serving of pork dumplings in chili sauce(6 dumplings to a serving), and split an order of General Tso’s Chicken for a main course. The chicken was tender white meat and the fried outer crust did not overwhelm the chicken. The sauce had just the right balance of heat and sweet. The service is friendly and attentive. The owner spoke to us for a few minutes about her desire to offer authentic dishes and cooking techniques and not to be just another take-out place. The décor in the dining room is quite plain and could use some warmer colors. The television is a unnecessary distraction. I can understand having it on for the lunch crowd, but not for dinner. In short, this is the sit-down Chinese restaurant I’ve been looking for since I moved to the area 2 years ago. Definitely a cut above the usual take-out. Do try them. Bring your friends and really sample all that the menu has to offer.

Just terrible Chinese food. Second time I ordered from them and both times I really disliked the flavor of their food. Wonton soup was bland, the pan fried dumplings are very small(the portions in general are VERY small), chewy beef, small pork buns(have had better from trader joes!) and foul tasting pork lo mein. The only thing I do really like is the sautéed string beans. I don’t think I’ve ever had bad Chinese food until now. Really not sure why there are so many 4 – 5 star reviews here.

I’m glad that we now have the Dumpling House in Milford. This restaurant has delicious Szechuan food that will make you want to keep coming back. The owners of the Dumpling House used to run Hao Sczechuan in West Haven. So if you liked that food you must visit the new place. We ordered soup dumplings, BBQ steamed pork buns, and spicy braised fish fillets and tofu. The food is flavorful, spicy and soul satisfying. We will be back again :-)

Solid and fairly authentic Chinese run by a very nice family. Not much for atmosphere, but the food is great, and prices are low. Excellent service as well.

Really excellent and spicy Dan Dan Noodles. The pork soup dumplings were very good. Looking forward to going with more people and trying more things. Experience waa much better when they muted the television. I will definitely be back. The pork bun is also good. It’s nice to live in an area with real Chinese food. I certainly did not have that in Maine.

Place was empty on a Friday night at 7:30 so I was a bit leery about trying it but I trust all the good Unilocal reviews and we headed in. Sure glad we did. Authentic and tasty is the two words that come to mind. There were 3 of us and we wanted over ordered because we wanted to try so many things. Here is what we had for $ 40.00 before tip. Dan Dan noodles(3 orders) delicious! Its the next morning and I’m craving them. It’s noodles with Bok choy, pork and a spicy sauce. You can choose heat level to taste. This is a must a try Chicken dumplings– just ok, would not order again. Weird taste, we all agreed Vegetable dumplings– very good. Would order again if sharing but wouldn’t want all 6 to myself Pork and chili sauce dumpling– my favorite. I want all 6 to myself and I want to drink the chili sauce at bottom of bowl. Not overly spicy. This is a must try Creamy shrimp appetizer — loved it and a must try. Don’t be grossed out when u read it has mayonnaise like my friend was, she ended up loving them also. Huge portion so best to share or order as your entrée. They remind me of bang bang shrimp without the spice. The service was excellent no complaints there. The one thing you should know is when I checked in on Unilocal it said free order of dumplings with $ 30.00 purchase. When I presented it to owner he said they don’t remove an order off your bill. They give u an order free to take home. I found that odd and didn’t really want an order to take home as we had leftovers. He ended up reluctantly taking off bill so it worked out.
