The absolute best if you like classic NY/NJ pork-store style food. Every time we stop in, I end up leaving with three times as much as I intended… But it all gets eaten. Definitely try the cured meats, an Italian sandwich or even some of the prepared foods. Beautiful location. Classic attitude, etc. I think they should consider opening a location near Lake Wallenpaupack. Hawley perhaps! We are waiting.

I have been here many times and you cannot find a better Italian deli than this! Everything is fresh and the service is great! You will not find a better sandwich anywhere, period. They also have a great selection of fresh cut serious quality meats, homemade sausages, cheeses and a number of imported Italian groceries. Ask for Victor, he is a fantastic butcher with extremely friendly recommendations. Try the prime rib and ask him for his cooking directions. This is a «Winner», my family and I loved it. It was so tender you could cut it with a butter knife… This is the kind of place I actually want to buy meat from(not like a grocery store which completely grosses me out). The take out pre-cooked dinners and soups as well as the antipasti are all delicious. Their chicken soup is the best I have ever eaten. This is a hidden gem! It is a must stop if you visiting the Milford area.

Jersey born and raised and my family moved to Milford after I moved to VA. I have made Fretta’s part of my visiting my children and family or several years now — to the point I have my own insulated bag cooler to come back with the goodness. I love the fact when you first walk in, it smells of aging curing meats that they make themselves. This isn’t a typical«Boars Head» deli — this is the real deal in which most items are house made. So while some say it’s pricey, I don’t mind the extra cost because I’m paying for traditional food made in traditional manners and on premise. I tend to go on off hours as I arrange my visits to Milford on weekdays and tend to shop after lunch hour rushes — so I’ve never had a wait or any negative customer service issues. Always friendly, attentive — and to the point if I say«I’m getting a pound of this to freeze» they’ll wrap it appropriately. Very reminiscent of the Italian deli my mom brought us to when growing up in Jersey. With that, I am always sure to get a pound of the house made sausage. The texture and flavors beats any commercial grade sausage. and if not sure what to do other than peppers and onions or throwing in a sauce to braise? I remind to make some sausage bread.(Images uploaded.) I also recently got my first Italian Sub as I usually just get my cured meats, cheese and olives and do an antipasti/charcuterie platter… and OMG the sub was amazing. It was 12″ or so, but packed with meat — I literally got 4 meals out of it. The bread crusty exterior, soft pillowy bread inside… While I can get a like sub here in the VA area, it isn’t the same. The bread, quality of meat, quality of cheese — Soooooo gooooooood! For all those who are able to frequent Fretta’s? Do it — and appreciate it. Because here down below the Mason Dixon line on the east coast? There’s nothing like it!

So I’ve been hearing about this place and have passed by it quite a few times before actually deciding to go in. But im really glad i did. Apparently Fretta’s was once in Greenwich Village NYC… To my eyes delight i felt right at home. The Olives caught my eye right away, as it was something i enjoyed sharing with someone very special to me. I could never remember the names of all the different types of olives that we used to get, so i ordered the familiar looking ones. I also ordered some parmesan cheese & mozzarella balls and grabbed some french bread to make it complete. Its a great little Italian deli! I hear they also make great sandwiches, salads, Italian cookies, pastas, and they have a large selection of frozen cooked and uncooked Italian foods…

Feels like NYC little Italy, taste even better! I wanted to buy everything in the store. We had a delicious eggplant, mozzarella, and roasted pepper hero prepared by a sweet lady named Ann. This place is a must try.

The products they offered are wonderful. The only negative is the service at times as there isn’t really a line. I recommend taking a peak in to see what all they have to offer in dry goods, meats and cheeses. There really isn’t any other place like this in the local area. They are always busy and check their hours.

We try to stop by and grab a sandwich when we’re in the area. The rolls are excellent. I would have given them four stars if the sandwich had just a little more meat. It’s a little pricy, not crazy, for what you get.

My wife and I love this place for so many reasons. Their meat rack is amazing with homemade sausages and delicious other bbq items. The steaks are expensive but their is NOTHING like them when you cook them properly at home. The antipasto rack is amazing too, the olives, cheese and peppers are can’t misses. Their is so much to say be sure to stop in and see why everyone loves them. Ask for a bomba you won’t regret it.

Had a prusciutto /pepper /mozzarella cheese and added pesto. Probably one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a very long time!

This place makes me happy to be alive. In the middle of nowhere, on route 209 in the Poconos, we came upon this gem. Lots of meats, hams, prosciuttos, sauces, and fresh mozzarella cheese — which was perfectly salted and amazing! The fresh marinara sauce was good too, lots of garlic.

Great authentic Italian place to grab a sandwich before a hike. Eggplant Hero — thin perfectly cooked slices of breaded and fried eggplant. Not too heavy, not greasy at all. Fresh mozzarella was creamy and well balanced. Roasted red peppers were fresh, not overly vinegared. Bread was fresh and tasty.(Ask them to heat the sandwich it’s much better that way) Tomato Sauce — ordered a small tub to dip the sandwich in. WIN! Excellent sauce. Mixed Olives — enjoyed the selection of various olives to accompany my sandwich. Sfogliatelle — light, crispy and chewy all at same time. Filling was a bit heavy for my taste but I enjoyed it none the less. Orange rind flavor over powered the ricotta.(I remember the filling in Italy to be airy in Italy) Service can be a little gruff, but the place gets busy fast and I believe they are from NYC, so don’t judge them for it. Quality foods in a well run and clean establishment. That’s what matters!

My family and I stopped in to Fretta’s to get sandwiches after hiking at Cliff Park. The food looked delicious, and we were excited to eat when we got home. However, when we unwrapped the three sandwiches we discovered that only one was as we had ordered it. I am vegetarian and ordered the fried eggplant. Instead I got a turkey hero. My wife’s chicken sandwich had tomatoes, lettuce, and cheddar; she had ordered mozzarella and peppers. It is now too late to go back as we are hungry. In fact, based on my experience, I do not plan to ever go back to Fretta’s.

They make a great sandwich, and offer quality Italian specialties. They are a little pricy but they are the only game in town, or within 50 miles, so it’s worth paying for. What’s not worth paying for is their yuppy attitude. They cater to the New York type who frequent the surrounding area. If you are a regular spending big $$$ they are friendly. On the other hand if you are normal customer your treatment may vary from cool to obnoxious. In the 10 years I’ve shopped there I’ve never been thanked after paying for my order. If they make a mistake they never apologize. The check out counter is cramped and very small, when they are busy it’s confusing to say the least.

I’m a true New Yorker at heart, so finding a place like this is heaven. I bought a home about 15 minutes away from Milford. So this is perfect. It has everything I need when I spend my weekends in PA. It’s a great location, everything is fresh and the service is always great!

Very good authentic Italian deli. Not a huge selection but definitely quality products. I just stopped In for lunch and I got an Italian hoagie and it was delicious! Excellent bread. Cost $ 9 but could be split by two people easily.

This is a great authentic little Italy Italian deli located in Milford PA that offers amazing Italian specialty foods, plus they make fantastic hearty sandwiches. I always get their Prosciutto, roasted red peppers with fresh homemade mozzarella cheese on a hero with extra red wine vinegar!!! They have a full glass case with a large variety of antipastos. They also have store prepared and packaged Italian cooked foods, from soups, pastas, sauces, and desserts to take home. Of course they also offer non-cooked food items dried pastas frozen raviolis etc. They also have a good selection of imported cheese, olive oil and vinegar. They have a really nice meat section. I have only had their steaks and fresh sausages from here. What I really enjoy about coming here is that it’s a really cool little store which has everything I need when I have family gatherings or small parties. This is definitely a place to try.
