This address lead us to a chicken farm. Outside the window I could see chicken house 2 and 3. There was no farm stand.

So here’s this little farm stand, which I’ve been driving by occasionally for years, never having paid much more attention to it than to notice that it seemed like more of a nursery than a food place, and that at some point a while back they did start advertising that they were selling meats. And then, last time I went to the Historic Lewes Farmers Market for milk, and to give the Nice Farms Creamery guy a hard time about not selling it anywhere closer to where I live, lo and behold, he had great news for me! «Ever heard of Hill’s in Milford? They just picked up their first order of NFC products.» AWESOME! So I stopped in on Friday to check it out. Not only do they carry all of my favorite NFC products(Creamline Whole Milk, Chocolate Milk, and Yogurt), but they also carry an impressive selection of meats. And they’re all from Delaware and Maryland, processed in Sudlersville. The woman behind the counter the first time I visited volunteered that info as soon as I walked in, and gave me a price list(also available as a .pdf on their website) to take home. My first visit, I picked up a pint of chocolate milk(I still had leftover milk from my last visit to the farmer’s market) and two New York Strip steaks for dinner. Then on Saturday, I took the chef back with me(hubs does 99% of the cooking) and picked up some produce and a couple of gourds and a big ol’ pumpkin. And this time, we actually got to talk to the owner, who told us more about the meats and the history of the business, etc… The woman I’d talked to the day before turned out to be her mother. They also have a bunch of other fall-type décor, like potted mums and ornamental cabbage. And butter. And bread(Magnolia Bread Company). And cheese(Chapel Country Creamery, I think, but I wasn’t paying much attention to the cheese). It occurs to me belatedly that I didn’t notice any eggs, but I may have just not noticed them because I didn’t need any. They also had Rehoboth Dairy milk. I am in love. The produce selection is a little less than at Fifer, and the meat selection is a little less than at Haass, but the fact that they also carry NFC products, bread, and are open year round(Fridays and Saturdays only during the winter) may just tip the balance for the majority of my future shopping.
