AAA Mill Valley

Stay away from this branch if you are in need of any assistance with your Roadside Assistance plan. They know nothing about it and are only interested in selling policies, etc.

My fiancé went to this AAA to change a policy of homeowners insurance and Wayne Black helped him. He doesn’t have a Unilocal account, so he wanted me to write a review. He said that Wayne was the most helpful and friendly insurance agent that he has ever met. Wayne made everything easy to understand and even went out of his way to send some links about how to save gas mileage on his Prius.

Fast, convenient, helpful. AAA membership is a must. After waiting 2 hours at DMV to get vehicle renewal forms that didn’t get sent in the mail, I went to AAA and took care of it in 5 minutes. The Mill Valley office is conveniently located, bright and clean and the people were quick and helpful. I forgot about all the great services AAA provides in addition to towing, jump starts and flat tire emergencies.

Today, AAA got me replacement stickers for RV that’s going to Burning Man. The entrance gate to that event is literally crawling with police who are looking for reasons to justify pulling your over and searching one’s vehicle… and though I’m a tee-​totaller, I really don’t like being searched. And at AAA the entire process of getting the stickers took all of like two minutes and $ 20. Yay!!!
AAA is the smartest membership I have. Forget the gym, alumni association, and professional organizations… this one keeps me far away from the DMV. Which is worth a lot more than the annual fee.
The Mill Valley and Novato offices are great. Parking is easy, the staff is friendly and very knowledgable. And beyond that, when I’ve needed a jump start (I’m the idiot who takes phone calls in the car and bluetooth kills the battery) their service is WAY faster than the one through my car insurance carrier (that «renowned one» that on military-​associated folks can get).

I always get immediate service the minute I enter the door. I went in for passport pics and to check my car and homeowner policies. A young man in front multitasked it and I’m sure I was finished quickly because of that. Very professional.

⁵⁄₃₀ Updated review — was trying to get to daughter’s dance recital & battery died… CSAA came right out and replaced the battery — ok so THAT is why I am paying for CSAA :) And we got to the recital on time… thanks! ⁵⁄₂₉ was a 1-​star, ⁵⁄₃₀ was a 5-​star, so that balances out to 3 stars.
⁵⁄₂₉ Seriously annoying — went to Greenbrae location (it’s closed, CSAA should remove the address from the Internet)…then drove to Mill Valley location… stood in line only to find that I could not pay my vehicle registration — why — they only accept cash or check. Re cash: who carries hundreds of dollars around with them? Re check: it’s a debit/​credit card world now, most people do not carry checks around with them. Why am I paying several hundred dollars per year for this «convenience»? Then the counter person told me I could drive to DMV in Corte Madera, and you can imagine how irritating that was…

Came here during lunch time to do some car title transfer. Very friendly staff, very helpful, showed me the necessary forms to fill out and I was able to get it done quickly.

AAA totally came through for me when I needed them most — rescuing my son and his car, stuck somewhere in the middle of California! An amazing thanks to Mike McKinley in the Mill Valley office. You saved the day!

Never in my life have I ever had to hunt down an insurance agent! Exception to this rule is the AAA office in Mill Valley.
I was seeking an auto and home insurance quote. I dialed the 888 number and left a message; I waited 2 days before someone called back; we played telephone tag for the next 3 days. This agent promised to call this morning. Guess what? You’re right — Nada!
I called yet again at 1:00 pm — reaching a live person at the 888 number. Yes, the agent I had played telephone tag was at her desk. He’d have her call me right away. That was 3 hours ago.
I’m trying to get all this paperwork off my desk. Thanks to AAA, it’s not going anywhere. So I ripped up their advert and am going with one of their competitors.
VERY BAD customer service! Wait — I take that back — I’M NOT EVEN a customer! A potential money maker and Mill Valley AAA just flips you off!
I miss the AAA Larkspur Landing Office; the people were great and always available to help. Easy to get to, and eliminated the hassle of dealing with the roller derby parking lots at Strawberry Village.
Too bad they moved and turned Marin Snarky!

Lost my pink slip and stopped into the Mill Valley office near the Strawberry shopping center. There was only one couple in front and I wasn’t in a rush. However I was approach by one of the other representatives asking how’s she could help.
I received the necessary forms, explained how to coomplete it to return the next day with the signatures.
Again a short line and Terri apprached me and I asked if the form was correct. I had made an error and she walked me through filling out a new form. She explained what the timing would be for the duplicate document. She has been with AAA for 28 years and she knows the business inside and out.
Not only is she knowledgeable, has seen it all and very friendly but was also on the spot when I leaned that my membership was expiring that day.
Thanks Terri for your outstanding customer service. Experience counts.

Excuse me, previous reviewer (jokingly, he says, as he throws down the gauntlet!), but as far as agents at AAA in Mill Valley go, John Cover is a rock star. I recommend AAA and John to everyone! I wouldn’t think of anywhere else to go for all they offer
I just want to reiterate what an amazing staff they have here. I would not dare even think about moving or driving or much else w/​o consulting them.
My daughter does her apt renter insurance here. I have my Moto and family roadside assistance here. I do my DMV stuff here too!!!

Wayne Black ROCKS! Super Professional. Great guy to do business with for AAA insurance. I would proudly pay more when my experience is pleasant and my questions get answered in a timely manner. I see a few one star reviews and can only think these must be competitors, professional bloggers or flat out ignoramuses.

Stopped in last Friday am and told Wayne Black that I needed a quote ASAP in order to make a decision regarding a brand new auto purchase the next day. He said I would receive the quote by noon via email. Never received quote and made about 15 phone calls to reach a human. Kept getting their atrocious and laborious phone robot, hit 1, 2, 3 etc for whatever plus it begins by telling you they moved and their new address (they moved over a year ago). Anything but send you to a human. Transferred to the call center and asked if anyone was working in the Mill Valley office on Good Friday or did the office close. She didn’t know but sent them an email stating I needed to speak with Wayne Black. I kept calling and hanging up every time I got voicemail. Finally Wayne called me back at 4:30. He had just listened to one of my numerous messages. Received the quote at 5 pm. Went in today to give Colleen Cunningham the new VIN number. She made me stand there and wait for 5 minutes while she did something on her computer. Very cold and unfriendly person. Total lack of customer service. I WILL BE LOOKING AT OTHER INSURANCE COMPANIES FOR QUOTES. These people obviously don’t want business. PS. They were giving away SF giant hats for requesting quotes but wouldn’t give me one. Stingy people don’t deserve to be working in a competitive business when customers can go elsewhere and their business is appreciated. I should have asked for a manager but I doubt that would change my thinking about 2 lousy experiences in 48 hours!

I have had good service here in the past, and have been a member for 30 years, but yesterday the manager publicly humiliated me. I had my service dog with me, and he forced me to reveal to the whole office and other customers what my disability was. I was appalled at his lack of humanity, and I was incapable of completing my DMV transaction. I had to leave the office, as he caused my disability to flare up, and I could no longer function for many hours after.
I have been in touch with the ADA, and if that «Manager» would like more information on the legal way to act, he can look here:
. I can’t believe in this day and age, that someone would have so little understanding or compassion. I would suggest additional training for all the staff so this won’t happen again.

I would give no stars but that’s not an option. So Ill just say it… NO STARS FOR YOU! Less than that … MINUS STARS!!!
It’s a good thing I’m already a member (10+ years) and I have a great history with AAA and the office where I used to live (Petaluma), because if the visit I had this morning in the Mill Valley office would have been the deciding factor weather or not to have AAA as my insurance company, NOT would be my decision.
I went in, for my 3^rd try to register my car. As I approached, the gentleman sitting behind the DMV desk was in the middle of something & asked if he could help me. I told him what I needed, and he said «Ok, Mathew will be right with you», indicating another young man. Well… Mathew appears after a few minutes… and proceedes to open and count his drawer, then hitting the adding machine behind him (something I thought you did before you opened your doors for business)… never once looking at or acknowledging me. I finally said something like «hello, isn’t this a task you should be doing BEFORE you open… and that’s when he finally looked at me with this dead, stupid, glaring contemptuous stare (because how dare I, a customer, interrupt him??)… and even then not an «I’m sorry ma’am, Ill be right with you» or «excuse me, I’m running a bit behind, I’ll be with you in just a moment»… nothing. Nada. And then when I asked for a manager he said «yeah, no, theres no one here».
I was only wishing he worked for my company, so I could look at him over the counter and say «your fired» !

Cudos to Clayton Leche for going beyond his duties to help me. Everyone at the larkspur CA. branch of AAA is great but he is REALLY helpful

We always receive quick, efficient, accurate information and services from the staff at the Larkspur Ca. location whether its over the phone or in person.
We have all of our insurance coverage requirements met by AAA.
We have been AAA members since 1979 and have no reason to look elsewhere.

AAA referred my service call to Redhill. I told the AAA dispatcher that I was in an unsafe situation with my car blocking the intersection. He assured me that I would be given priority treatment., with a truck arriving in about 15 minutes. I hour and 10 minutes later the Redhill Towing guy shows up. He wants to immediately hook up my car to the tow truck. I ask that he please check the battery, which was purchased from a AAA towing service less than one year ago. He says he has no battery checking equipment on the truck, even though I specifically requested AAA to send a tow truck with battery checking and replacement equipment — wtf?! He opens the hood and fiddles around with the battery. He asks me to try to re-​start the car and miraculously it re-​starts. What kind of mechanic starts the diagnostic process by going straight to the tow, vs. performing a few simple checks? A few months ago AAA changed their program in order to contract with fewer tow companies. If this is the result — it SUCKS. After decades with AAA I will re-​consider renewing my membership! Redhill Towing receives a grade of «F» for responsiveness and competency! FAIL!!!

John Cover is very helpful and very detail oriented. He remembers me every time I come in. He is very nice to call me if I haven’t made a payment to remind me that it is due. He was very helpful when I had an accident and helped me through the process. I strongly recommend him as the best person to go to when looking for insurance.

Can’t even believe that I’m writing a positive review about an insurance company, but this is for real.
I’ve had two accidents in the last 4 years and I have to say that working with AAA was nothing short of a pleasure. No arguing, no inefficiencies or unreturned phone calls. All dealings were fair and hassle-​free.
They make the process clear, fast and efficient and before you know it, you’re back to normal.

Thanks to Unilocal I read that this location has a DMV desk where one can renew their registration. Yippeeee! I was helped as soon as I arrived and they even stocked me up with free maps for the car.
Every time I deal with AAA I pat myself on the back for remembering to renew my membership each year. My husband always rolls his eyes and complains that I’m buying into a scam. Here are my arguments for getting my membership each year for you ladies who need a little help convincing the minister of finance that this is the thing to do:
–imagine your wife/​gf gets a flat tire down in the tenderloin at night (I always win with that argument alone)
–imagine she is pulled off the side of the highway trying to put her wheel back on her car at midnight (this happened)
–imagine her battery dies when she has a toddler in the back seat who needs a nap (this also happened)
Now you try!

I met with Clayton Leche today and my experience was great! I was having issues with my current insurance guy (also AAA) and I wanted a second opinion on what my policy should be. Clayton put it all out there and showed me where I could save $ 500. That’s right — same insurance company, better customer service! I truly appreciated the time Clayton spent answering my questions and letting me know that I might be getting ripped off by this other dude.
Before I left, he also gave me a vacation book so I can check out my next Caribbean place to visit. Thanks Clayton!
