Awful… just awful The place looks cute, funky and promising. However, a closer look reveals that it is unclean, the service was(unfortunately) bad, and my 8 year old daughter said the pancakes tasted«bad». She ordered a hot chocolate, and the waiter was instructed to put chocolate sauce in a glass of milk, and«nuke it» in the microwave. I’m all for supporting local businesses… but this one should be avoided in favor of a nearby Denny’s. :(. That’s how awful it is.

Way too expensive, even for where it is. Food is just OK. The mish mash of décor is just bizarre.

Filthy! This is the first time I left a restaurant after visiting the restroom. I can’t comment on the food since we did not make it that far. The service was friendly and did not care much about us leaving.

A Marin Classic. Plenitude of food offered, american breakfast staples such as: perfectly toasted homestyle potatoes, omelets bursting with their ingredients, a crêpe you may be challenged in finishing off. All dishes graced by the readily available fresh fruits and veggies which are a staple of all Marin eateries. I have never left Mama’s hungry. NEVER. During Graduation Season, the tables are even more full than usual, with out-of-town relatives surrounding the high school grad and marvelling at the work-in-progress interior, an interior layered with years’ worth of colorful and humorous folk art and assemblage. On weekends the piano is occasioned by a well-seasoned piano player, regaling us with some hopping ragtime, or americana two-step.

This Mill Valley classic serves a great breakfast in an eclectic and fun setting. The service tends to usually be a bit distracted but somehow you don’t mind. If the piano in the entrance is being played you are transported back to the 70s where the Mammas vibe is firmly rooted.

It’s a little dirty and funky. The food is just okay. It has a TON of character, but not much else to offer.

What a difference a day makes … 2 weeks ago, we went to Mama’s Royal Café for the first time and had yum food, lovely service and a nice time. So we thought, let’s go again and sit inside! Today was just the opposite… between being brought to a non-wiped table, to us having to ask for silverware, to food caked on ‘clean’ forks, to an order not being made correctly(even tho we were the only ones there), to old potatoes and a disheartened scramble, to a surly ‘host’, to our bill being added incorrectly … i believe Mama’s is perhaps too personal of a restaurant with a hefty attitude of ‘come what may’ from the owner and staff… which then, of course, creates a hit or miss experience for customers. I’m all about funky and character but … we didn’t have a good time.

What a fantastic place, the décor is just lovely; this is one of those whole in the wall places you always hope to find. I had the eggs Benedict with avocado and shared the BLT with the grilled peppers it was just sooooo good. I cannot wait to go back. The service is impeccable!

The service is awful and unfriendly. The food is good. A bit stuffy inside and you get fumes from auto shop next door when you sit outside. I know this is a go to place for locals — lucky for Mama’s it’s established cuz it wouldn’t cut it otherwise.

EEEEEEYYYYUUUUU!!! Worst food I have tasted in Mill Valley. Went for breakfast Sunday morning and were ignored by the woman who manages the place. Stood for 5 minutes before a waitress sat us at one of the numerous empty tables. The egg dish came with cottage fries that tasted of rancid oil, the toast was stale, a pink auto rag served as a napkin, and the scrambled eggs could only be described as cnwoiaw;ofbn;qp9nLAKUOPQWONP. I had trouble getting the waitress’ attention for the check. When it came she seemed put out that I had only taken about 4 bites. Nevertheless, I should say that I left a 20% tip as you never know if the owner even pays the servers.

They sat us at the same table with people which is weird but so hot inside so asked to sit outside. Guy seating us asked if we wanted water and I said yes, he brought water and plopped it down. I said thanks and his response was yea. Waitress passed us 3 times avoiding eye contact and finally I stopped her to get our order. Brought me an iced tea with lipstick on the glass and lemon was brown. Waitress seemed to have 0 experience didn’t ask what dressing I wanted for my salad, and forgot what sides we ordered. Didn’t get a fork for my salad. The lettuce and carrots were brown in the salad, the lettuce, tomato, and avocado were brown on my sandwich. I couldn’t even eat it it turned me off so much. Waste of a 30.00 meal. This place is dirty and service sucks, save your time and money and go elsewhere!

Quirky offbeat diner in the heart of Millvalley reflects the old-school Millvalley. Great food and maybe the only place left in this town not stuffed up by uptight new yorky people. Great creeps, great omelettes, amazing scrambles and amazing cinnamon swirl toast. This was a great town, this is a great restaurant!

Unexpectedly good find on Memorial Day following a morning hike in Muir Woods. Friendly wait staff and a ‘normal setting’. A bit disappointed the corned beef hash was from a can. the pancakes are more the Swedish variety(a good thing).

Super great and funky/cute breakfast post in mill valley. Easy parking, fast service, and a really unique and expansive breakfast menu which definitely differentiates it from other breakfast places in Marin. Really loved everything about this place(food, vibe, service, location, etc) and will definitely be back!

Slightly bizarre experience, Café had a Buck’s of Woodside vibe to the décor but shabbier. Boxes and other stuff stored in plain sight makes it feel cluttered. Food is ok, not great. What I found most surprising was the staff using the seating area to do their chores… Need to fold napkins, just plonk down on the table next to me and fold away.

The Eggs Benny is good. The Omelettes are so so. Nice place to sit outside and enjoy the sun. Each time I go here I wonder why I did not go somewhere else. The food is just OK. Not bad at all but nothing special. The place is always busy and the wait staff is good, just not best breakfast place to go to.

This is a total family place — ok, maybe not in terms of the wall art for the mid-western tourists’ kids. They have almost every breakfast item your little heart could hope for. Blintzs! Scrambles! Crepes! Eggs benny! It’s almost overwhelming. Not pretentious. Fun décor. This is a total gem to find in Marin.

All the egg dishes come in HUGE portions so come ready to eat a lot. I got the belgian waffle, and that was pretty filling for a good price as well. Nothing was specifically amazing, but it got the job done. I think the most appealing thing about Mama’s is the atmosphere and décor-so many random things on the wall, your eyes will never be bored. It’s definitely a cute place with decent food-worth a visit if you are hungry for breakfast and in the neighborhood.
