Gino’s Shoe Repair

Owner wanted to charge $ 70 to add a piece of leather over my pair of orthotics. He changed my wife $ 20 for the same job within the year. His quality of work for her orthotics was good. But, I’m afraid he noticed my newer car parked in front and decided to charge me more$. I hate it when people try to take advantage of me, it leaves a very bitter taste.

Love Steve! He is the only person I trust with my shoes. He does an amazing job and is so nice! He is quick, detailed and uses quality products to repair his customers shoes. He’s also super accommodating and works to get your shoes done by the time you need them. He’s the best!

I had to have a strap sewn back, and it was done in a timely manner, and was only $ 8. I asked if I should have the other straps, that were not broken, sewn for reinforcement, and he said it was not necessary. I value honesty. I will definitely come back for other shoe-​related needs!

2015 Update:
Absolutely delighted that Steve is still doing what he does best at his shop in Millbrae. I continue to bring new (and old) shoes to him for his expert advice and work. He can transform well-​made designer shoes into designer shoes that will last a lifetime with protective outer soles and heels. And you won’t be slipping and sliding trying to break in new leather soles!
Once again, being a classically trained shoemaker makes *all* the difference when it comes to shoe repair.

If I could give Gino’s 10 stars, I would. The brilliantly talented Soviet comrade running this shop is an absolute master of his craft. I brought in 5 pairs of my most damaged Italian made heels and he brought each of them back to life in a way I didn’t think was even possible. Stained, scratched, and scuffed teal colored suede? No problem! Now they look brand new. I was ready to throw out a pair of metallic Louboutins I thought I had destroyed beyond repair but Steve managed to completely fix them. He mixes his own pigments for color-​matching perfection and he’s honest! Steve won’t try to sell you anything you don’t need and his prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back.

Steve is absolutely the best shoe repairer I have ever encountered.
He will make old shoes look new and takes huge pride in his work.
And on top of that he is the nicest person — you should ignore any comments about him being rude.

I would never take my Taryn Rose, Charles Jourdan or Ferragamo’s anywhere else.
He can make second hand shoes become new again, and extend the life of designer shoes three fold with touch ups.

My wife and I live in Palm Springs and lived in New York for many years. From previous experiences with this shoe repair shop, we shipped several shoes to the Bay Area for Gino’s repair once again. The resulting work is fabulous and worth every effort for the time and cost spent shipping our shoes to Millbrae. Frankly, the end product is artful, clean and superior quality. The new soles on the expensive boots are flawless, and we’ll continue to use this shop for such exceptional craftsmanship.

Rude and unprofessional

I have been using Steve for more than 20 years to repair my shoes and handbags.
His work is amazing and always completed promptly. I have yet to have a problem for which he can’t find a solution — broken straps on handbags, rivets that have come loose, new soles and heels for old favorites.
I highly recommend Steve.

Steve’s work is great. A year ago I read a review about this place and decided to give it a try. Since then I’ve been back around 8 times. Steve’s work is fast, thorough, and affordable. I’ve loved the end results of every pair of shoes I’ve brought in and highly recommend his services.

I am pleased to write this review. Steve is amazingly great. He fixed all my shoes fast, reasonably priced and with great quality. I am so pleased to find a professional who takes his work seriously and does a great job. He even called me to let me know my shoes were ready, usually within a few days. He saved my favourite leather boots after my dog chewed them. He did an amazing job — you cannot tell at all that they were ever damaged.

Steve (the owner) is an absolute genius and a true master of his craft. When you’re paying north of $ 350-​$ 500 for a pair of shoes, you want someone working on them who knows his stuff and be willing to pay for that level and quality of service. His prices are very fair and you get great value for your dollar.
I came to discover Gino’s after having had a bad experience at one of the Union Square shoe repair (chop) shops in the late 90s. The rest as they say is history and I’ve been a client at Gino’s for well over a decade. In short, Steve knows shoes (both men’s and women’s), and he knows what’s quality, what’s crap and understands and appreciates craftsmanship.

Pardon me for the late review but I just had to say that he did an excellent job repairing my pair of Louboutins! I was searching all over the city and no one was really giving me a solution to fix the rip I had in my shoe. I was soooo sad… Some said they couldn’t do anything because of the location of the rip. Others were just going to kind of stitch it up, and hope for the best. No, so not good enough for me.
So, I stumble upon this shop after lunching with a friend and she says she goes here all the time. I showed him my shoe, and he gave me this elaborate detail of repairing my shoe. I also told him it needed to be resoled and he showed me another pair of Louboutins with a red sole added onto it! i was like «yes! wow!!»
So, i got my shoe back, and you can’t even tell where the rip originally was. It was near perfection. Prices were totally reasonable too. I’ve got three words. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.
