The food is not bad. But the service could use some work. Not sure if I happen to be there on a busy night, or if it’s always like that, but waited a while to be seated when we had reservations(and there were empty tables) and it was hard to flag down a waiter once we were seated.

I ate a free meal here today and I still disliked it A LOT. And I normally have good things to say about Chinese food… Terrible dim sum, they don’t make an effort. The dishes fall apart as soon as the chopsticks touch them. My friends liked seafood so they ordered a crab soup and shrimp. It neither looked good nor tasted fresh. I can deal with terrible food. But what I couldn’t deal with is the terrible service. One waiter was especially rude as he pushed my plate aside to make room for more plates and knocked down my soy sauce dish– which almost spilled on my belongings. …he didn’t even have the decency to apologize. Dim sum can do better, way better.

Food was delicious and is served still hot. Dim sum tastes so much better when it’s still hot so this was a plus. This place was pretty busy for a weekday so that tells me their food must be above average and decent. Will definitely come here again for dim sum if I’m around the area

Another place to go eat dim sum and hang out with your friends and family. It’s ANOTHER place in Millbrae, but… it’s one of the better places to eat. There’s a first floor and a second floor and the bottom level is for parking. I don’t think I’ve ever parked there but my parents told me it’s pretty small and tight. Just like all the other dim sum places, if you know someone, you’ll get a seat right away. We know some people on the inside and we usually get seats right away with a few minutes wait time. Sounds awesome right? PRETTYAWESOME. So, let’s move on to the food. My favorite thing to eat is their flat noodles. churng fun, or anything like that. I always get their beef or shrimp noodle rolls, if not, their pork spareribs noodles(not sure if they have it)… On Sunday, the dimsum lady brought us a dish that LOOKS like chicken feet… so I didn’t think anything of it until I ate it… and realized it wasn’t chicken feet, it was DUCK feet. It was a new thing for me since it didn’t cross my mind until my uncle said«I’m going to eat some duck feet» and I’m like whaaaaaaaaaaaat??? They have good desserts like the sweet tofu, «turtle» jello, red bean soup, and the yam soup dessert. Overall, I’d come back except parking is a little crappy and there is valet across the street… buuuuuuuuuuut… some of us park in a parking lot nearby… just sayin’ Try their green onion cake, it’s different and super tasty!

I came here with family and friends, and we were seated in the upstairs area next to the window that looks out on the Millbrae station. Perfect view. That and I think there was an Anniversary Dinner happening next door so we kept hearing utensils clinking repeatedly on glasses. Kinda made things interesting. But before we entered the restaurant, let me say that parking sucks. Just park on the street and walk through the cold if you can’t find space in the horribly designed lot on the ground floor. There’s also a valet service across the way, but that seems like a waste… they should convert that into a regular lot. Back the dinner. Our wait staff was very attentive and quick. We got several dishes at a time, which was nice because our table was not overloaded with everything we ordered at once. We ordered a variety of items. Notable ones were the walnut prawns, abalone soup, and steamed fish. Everything tasted great, and I love how the meal ended with coconut mochi and almond cookies. Seamless Chinese restaurant experience.

It was a very disappointing and embarrassing experience to bring friends there for dim sum lunch on New Year’s Day: 1. We made reservation for 11am. When we got there at 10:45am, we were told that the first round of guests were just seated so we had to wait for the first table for 6 to come available. So what is the point of allowing guests to make reservations? 2. While there is an order sheet for dim sum, the waitress strongly encouraged us to order off the carts(as the restaurant probably has not moved on from the antiquated cart-pushing system): a. We had to break away from converstation every time a cart rolled to ask what the dishes in the baskets were(and order) because there were no signs on the carts. b. 6 times out of 10, the cart person was calling out shrimp dumplings. We were at the mercy of what the kitchen felt like making instead of being able to order what we wanted to get. 3. We did end up ordering a few items on the order sheet. Word of advice — take a picture of the order sheet before handing it over to the wait staff: a. Our XLBs never came. b. Our rice rolls were not what we ordered. We ordered 2BBQ pork rice rolls but in came 2 deluxe rice roll orders. When we questioned our orders and asked for the order sheet to make sure that we did not make any mistakes ourselves, the waitress said the sheet got tossed after an order is entered. She went on to say the deluxe rice roll platters are better than what we order because there is variety and there is shrimp, beef, and scallops. First of all, we did not want variety in our rice rolls and we did not want scallops, beef nor shrimp in our rice rolls. That is why we order BBQ pork in the first place. We would not bring friends or guests here again.

Thank goodness we reserved a table. Came in around lunchtime for a weekday but it was still packed. phew. Had a group of 14 or so and we each pitched in about $ 17 including tips and tax. Did not order anything from the kitchen– we did. lol it just never came Anyways, I really like the food here, not only is there excellent service, but the food would come consistently — like how dimsum should be. Love that the food was piping hot, savory, and tasty, with great variety. Some of the food was in large portions(hagow) and that was appreciated. Though all of it was split among 14 people, we all had a great time and were filled. Staff was quick on their feet for the most part and also very helpful. Def would be back! Tip: Parking there is a pain and maybe word of advice, do not go down to the parking lot under the building lol… not a good idea. We did valet parking for $ 3 and was considered lucky to even get a spot there. Some other people parked a few blocks away, so plan accordingly.

This was just what we needed after getting off a flight into SFO. Get there early on the weekend. We walked in to a line of 3 before us and walked out happy, full and shocked at the line we walked past(about 2 dozen). Parking was rough too. We were all very hungry after our early flight. Dim Sum arrived in steady waves. Nothing notable, though. My son gobbled up two plates of the pork buns. the noodles had little flavor so the baby loved them. I kept looking over at the table next to us who where not having dim sum. They were sharing colorful dishes of meats, veggies and seafood. They obviously knew the staff and were speaking in Chinese with them. I was envious! I still enjoyed this more than any dim sum we get in Denver.

We’ve had dim sum in just about every chunk of the Bay Area(including the popular Koi Palace) and I have to say that this is my main go-to for the following reasons: 1.) Food is consistently good and they roll out a variety of carts at an even cadence. Food options and availability are very important at a dim sum place! Standouts are their Chiu Chow Dumplings(fun gor) and Shrimp Dumplings(ha gow). Both are giant dumplings with generous tasty fillings. Other dim sum dishes(rice noodle rolls, chicken rice dumplings, siu mai, etc.) are good, but are more along the lines of other places. They also have an impressive selection of live seafood in the tanks by the entrance if you decide to go for dinner. 2.) Price — I am more than willing to pay more for higher quality food, but some places(ahem, Koi where dim sum for 2 far exceeded $ 100) are vastly overpriced and HK Flower Lounge has realistic pricing. 3.) Parking is not impossible. Street parking is usually completely filled, but they do have a relatively inexpensive valet service. You can also opt to park a block or two away. 4.) Service is pretty decent. They’re good about their food carts as mentioned above, taking orders from the menu, and getting your check. They do tend to get crowded so I’d advise getting there early.

Dimsum is all made in central location and all the local restaurants use the same wholesale providers. Almost all the dimsum is made of lower quality meat and salted heavily to compensate for the lower quality meat. Dinner menu is better; live seafood with exception of shrimp is higher quality. Some of the traditional dishes have been replaced by more eco friendly versions; like replacing shark fin with fish fin and birds nest going to fake versions using sugar and starch substitutes. Veggies are good. Good service; staff tries hard to meet demands of mixed Asian and non Asian audience.

Well had our Thanksgiving brunch ruined because of the absolutely horrible stuffed sticky rice chicken ! What made matters worse is they made me wait for over a hour for a pre ordered item.

Bit of a mixed bag for me – difficult to park, gets very crowded, menu isn’t really anything special or trendy… but does accommodate a banquet very well with large tables, speedy service, fast cooking, over-sized dishes, and a spacious interior. In terms of food, this is about as predictable as it gets — nothing is too salty or bland, flavors are exactly as you’d expect(pretty much inoffensive to every type of diner), bites are a bit on the small side to make it easy for everyone to eat without needing to split anything or de-bone meats, and preparations are generally organized and colorful. Because of this, Hong Kong Flower Lounge is great for bringing large groups of co-workers, families, and friends. There’s something for everyone and the main banquet dishes like Peking duck, lobster, Hong Kong style sweet & sour pork, etc. are all prepared well and very reliably. Good restaurant for your next large gathering.

Yum! If you’re looking for some good Chinese food perhaps for a family dinner or celebration, Hong Kong Flower Lounge is always on my list! Everything is pretty authentic and service is good. I came here for a birthday dinner for my grandmas 80th. We got the family style $ 2088 person course meal which included Peking duck, fish belly crab meat soup, egg with scallops, jelly fish starter platter, vegetables in a garlic broth, lobster and fish. We also ordered short ribs and honey walnut prawns along with an oxtail soup. Overall, the meal was great and of course for a birthday, it’s a Chinese tradition to always order birthday noodles which are long fried noodles! So yummy :) One thing I will note is that parking is impossible unless you valet here. All of the side streets are usually occupied and their customer lot can hold 20 cars at most. They do have a valet service conveniently located across the restaurant that is $ 5 – 7 which isn’t bad. Good to know there’s a decent Chinese restaurant along the Peninsula if you’re not in the city.

Had dinner with the extended family Saturday, August 8th at 6pm. We had four tables, so we got the private room in the front. Banquet menu spring: for 10 persons($ 329) *Pa-boiled giant surf clams(10) *Special assorted appetizers *Braised crab meat soup with fish maw *Sauteed prawns with mixed mushroom and string beans *Sauteed pea-sprout with dry scallops and bamboo pith *Steamed crabs with garlic and vermicelli *Roasted country chicken with garlic *Steamed fresh fish *Fried rice with dried scallop, egg white and cilantro *Dessert of the day My favorite dishes were the surf clams, pea shoots and the assorted appetizers. The surf clams were a good size. And since my table wasn’t full, I got two of them! I love pea shoots. This was cooked perfectly where it still retained a tiny bit of crunch. I hate overcooked veggies. And I love jellyfish, so the assorted apps provided a good portion. I enjoyed the crab, but since it was mixed with noodles, it was hard eating the noodles without getting pieces of crab shell with each bite. It took away from the experience of eating it. Also, the fish was super fresh with good flavor, but it was slightly overcooked. These are two dishes I would have loved if I didn’t run into those issues. The staff was great! Very attentive for a Chinese restaurant. I kept asking for take out boxes throughout the meal as I was packing up the roommate food as we ate. They were very accommodating. I’ve been here for dim sum before. You must be prepared to wait. If you drive, make sure to drop someone off to grab a table before you look for parking. Parking can be a little tricky in this area. They do offer a paid lot and valet if you want to try those options. Great for a dinner banquet. Especially if you get the private room!

Disclaimer: have only been here for banquet food, although the dim sum looks pretty tasty, although not particularly elegant. Full on banquet meal is excellent, both food and service. Twin lobster, Beijing duck, par-boiled shrimp are all very good– they even do a good job breaking the lobster shells, and the shrimp are cooked just right that you can almost pull ‘em out of the shell. Even the spinach and abalone are unusually succulent, which was a pleasant surprise for abalone. Cold plate was superb– octopus, jellyfish, the two kinds of sliced meat, and definitely the roast pork, all worth it. Fried rice in(banana leaf, I think?) was the most average, and even that was still quite decent. Black pepper beef was savory chunks of beef but you had to eat it fast, as soon as it got cold it wasn’t as enjoyable. And holy crap, the baked sea bass was a ridiculously large chunk of fish that was still flaky yet moist and savory. Pretty awesome all around, although I suspect knowing the owners helped, and the party definitely paid handsomely for the privilege.

Hong Kong Flower Lounge is a huge restaurant, but I would advise to show up early for dim sum/lunch or make reservations if you’re with a larger group. After 12pm, the place gets packed. The dim sum carts come around pretty often, but if you have any other requests, it may be hard to flag someone down for service. The quality of the food is good, though at a higher price than your mom and pop dim sum restaurants. It’s nice to eat here once in a while, but I usually stick with Grand Palace in SSF.

I was warned but yes, It’s too pricey. For what it is, it’s too pricey. And I noticed that people who were dining there(weekday night) were mostly older(rich?) chinese people. Anyways, mediocre food and it’s your typical chinese place inspite of the«fancy» exterior.

Mmmmmmm I love me some dim sum. This is one of my favorite Cantonese restaurants in the bay area. The food is always great and service is a little better than most other Cantonese restaurants. It’s packed on weekends so come early. I’ve been here several times for both dim sum and dinner and everything I’ve eaten here has been yummy! Seafood here is really good. The crab and shrimp taste really fresh. The best thing they serve is the prawn sashimi. Not sure if it’s on the menu, but we always get that.
