We went to the Millbrook Café after a hike at the Dover Stone Church thanks to Unilocal. The atmosphere is quaint, inviting, and warm. The watiress was courteous and made every attempt to attend our needs, which she did well. The food was fresh and tasty. The open face Reuben and Salmon sandwiches were great. The side of fresh potato salad wa awesome! The only suggestion was that the ribs were on the small side, a larger cut would made them stand out more. Great place and a must to try!

We didn’t wait long for seating and the staff was very friendly, but the food was nothing spectacular and we waited over 30 minutes between salad and entrée. I had the ribs they were a little tough, but the chicken breast was very good. Overall underwhelming experience

It must be nice to be a local, because that appears to be the best way to get good service at the Millbrook Café. We are traveling through and stopped for a warm meal, and we were ignored for most of the evening. The locals around us were receiving warm welcomes, hugs, drinks, and food while we wondered how to get the attention of the waitress. Once the food finally arrived, it was very good, if a little overlooked. Paying took as long as ordering, and this restaurant should have three $$$ and not $$. We finally stood up and put our coats on, which finally got the waitresses attention, and she ran over with our check. It was a very expensive meal that should have come with better service. Or at least not a struggle to get any attention at all. We’ll find another restaurant on our return trip.

2nd visit here… probably my last. I usually give places 3 tries but cant afford another try. Over priced. Ordered chicken and shrimp and steak au poivre. Chicken overcooked, steak fatty. Super nice people. Drinks great. Food needs help. Chocolate bar… yikes. Under ripe fruit. Its help yourself. which I’m not a fan of. Don’t listen to me, try it yourself. Others seem to like it. Maybe I’m picky.

7 of us went for dinner last weekend(Halloween night) and had a really nice time. My wife and I haven’t been there for a number of years so we thought we’d try it again. We took about 3 hours and relaxed and had a really good meal. Amongst us we had rack of lamb, haddock, chopped steak, etc. I had a spicy crab and corn chowder that I thought was excellent. Everything is cooked in a wood fired oven which of course has only so much capacity, so if it’s busy(and it was), the meals come out a few at a time. It’s not McDonald’s. For us this is fine as we were having a nice time sampling their pretty decent wine and beer menu and appetizers. The noise level is nice, you can actually have a conversation with someone and it feels very intimate. I had the garlic crusted haddock special for my entrée, that was very good — had a nice sear due to the heat of the oven, but maybe only slightly over cooked — but very tasty. The wood fired oven smells great and gives a nice flavor to the meals but I think if the timing isn’t perfect things may end up on the«well done» side quickly — as was my wife’s chopped steak(from a local Farm, which we think is great), which could have used some seasoning, or a sauce of some kind, and less cooking. That’s the only ding I’d give them don’t be shy about some fresh herbs, salt and pepper. The vegetables and starch were very nice, as were the salads. The service was excellent. We were watching the 3 servers working the restaurant and they moved like they were on a mission and really coordinated. Our server was very friendly and attentive and seemed to really know what she was doing. I got a sense she’d worked there for a long time and enjoyed it. Desserts were very good and they have a fun chocolate fondue that comes with your meal as well. After dinner drinks were great, and a nice healthy pour. All in all I felt it was a great value, good food, really nice atmosphere and would go back in a heartbeat. So glad the Millbrook Café is around hopefully to stay. :)

Super slow service and food was below average. Burger was supposed to be medium rare but was so well done it was completely dry on the inside. Other dishes were not memorable.

The service was slow and the experience was awful. It took an hour and 15 minutes to have lunch. The waitress was in a hurry and kept throwing plates and glasses on the table. I’m amazed she didn’t spill anything. I ordered a burger to be cooked medium rare and it came out well done and very dry. It’s the first time I’ve seen a place that serves burgers but no fries. I wont be back there again.

Excellent local favorite. A must have is the seafood combination of scallops, shrimp and a lobster tail.

Had a great lunch today. We were a group of 10. The service was very good. My salad and chicken were excellent. Everyone was pleased with their meals. The atmosphere is old European and delightful. The menu was good with prices were reasonable. This is my third visit, and I always enjoyed my meal. Included with lunch was a fruit & chocolate sauce bar. It really hit the spot. I highly recommend the Millbrook Café.

Small local restaurant. Waitress and Chef were very friendly. They have a wood-burning stove where they cook all the food. Excellent beer selection.

Cold February night my husband and I came to check in on our house in the country. We decided to have dinner out before driving back to the city. Once again we came to Millbrook Café. As we entered the front door we were greeted with warmth and comfort of a firewood oven, and such a friendly couple. Food was spectacullar wine and service were amazing. Dila and George, NYC

We had dinner here last night and were very happy with it. It’s warm and cozy and has some real personality. We stuck with seafood and some white wine and it was all good. I highly recommend it, especially as the nights get cool. Their wood-fired oven makes it feel warm and friendly. My only suggests are to go a little heavier on seasoning — nothing too over the top but I think a few more pinches would add more nuanced flavors to some of the dishes. Fresh herbs probably the way to go. Also I’d add a few more wines to the list and go a little bigger and richer in terms of body and style. Definitely a special good place in the hood!

I adore this place! It’s all you could want– wonderful service with a smile, great food, great beer selection, and chocolate fondue! It is family-owned by a very nice couple. I had the delicious pork chop dinner.

We stopped here on our way to infinity music hall in Ct. The food was excellent and for me it was not a problem to be gluten free. Which was awesome. The service was just as good as the food. We will definitely stop here again.

Staying at a friend’s in Clinton Corners, Millbrook is closest town with restos so we had lunch and dinner in town. Our dinner at Millbrook café exceeded expectations, from my perfect martini to satisfying pork chop to heavenly chocolate lava cake. Nice atmosphere and gracious service all add up to a great meal.

Horrible experience, smokers outside the place, you have pass through the gauntlet before you get in. You are greeted with way over priced food, a bartender who can’t make a drink because again, no mixers and horrible service. Go to Rhinebeck. Millbrook has no food places to speak of, all want to charge 20+ for a dinner with no drink service, it’s a shame as a cute downtown with horrible food.

We toured the Millbrook winery and stopped here for lunch afterwards. Our party of 3 enjoyed sandwiches and the fish special… all spectacular! The truly amazing part is that everything is prepared fresh on the spot with a single chef and his fantastic wood-fired oven. And although I’m not a beer drinker, my Dad and husband enjoyed the vast selection.
