Hawk Hill Orchard

After a horrible experience at Stowe Farms we headed to Hawk Hill to make our day better. Didn’t happen. A medium apple bag is $ 18. EIGHTEEN DOLLARS. That bag could hold MAYBE 10 –15 good sized apples. Ridiculous.
Instead of apple picking memories this year — I’ll be teaching the kids about price gouging & when too much is just too much.

One word for this orchard… Northern Spy.
This is the ONE orchard that grows this awesome apple. You have to walk back what feels like miles to get to that section but once you are there, it’s like finding gold. These apples are the biggest apple I have ever seen! They are sweet, very, very juicy and perfect for making pies and sauce. I never missed it for years. I used to go when they were just a tiny hut at the corner. Then they made their old home into a great country store when they built their home next door. LOVE the pies and breads they make daily in the fall. I know they have peaches also and all kinds of apples. The owner knows just about every kind there is and can tell you the best baking ones or the best ones for recipes. Great place to take your kids. Just be careful of the cars.
