The owner is incredibly rude. I watched a 20 something with a job application be told«I don’t have time for this nonsense. People your age come in here all the time and quit after two weeks.» *looked at the application and shook his head* «Waste of my time.» Isn’t that illegal? To discriminate based on age? I used to buy our milk, eggs and a treat or two there. It’s a great store, and the prices a tad high, but hey, that’s organic, local food! It was well worth it to me! Having watched that and heard a few other stories from community members about how nasty he is, I choose to do my shopping elsewhere. Shame: I loved that place.

Great find on our road trip with family. Fresh organic food. Local. If you have to stop on your way up north this is the place.

When you find yourself in the middle of nowhere and starving from the road trip, this is the place you need to be. They have plenty of organic produce and products, but the highlight for me is that they make amazing hot/cold sandwiches and paninis, and soup with the freshest ingredients right from the farm! It looks like they recently renovated the place, completed with ample outdoor seating(with umbrellas) and actual bathrooms(it used to be only outhouses). Highly recommended for the healthy dining choice while on the road!

McEnroe is the best place in the area for organic and local farm produce. I wish it wasn’t so far out of my way; I plan trips that allow me to visit, especially in June when their strawberries are ripe. The best deals are the produce they grow locally, like the aforementioned strawberries, tomatoes, greens. Their freezers are full of their own meats and more from other local farms. Their deli has some unique salads as well as more conventional ones(my favorite is their beet salad). As with any market like this, expect to pay a bit more for the goods — but it’s worth it.

Their ridiculously huge American flag picturesquely waving from a hilltop above Route 44 is it’s shining beacon, saying, «Come buy my delicious organic produce.» I honestly do not think I knew the term«organic», short of McEnroe’s, while growing up. They were on the organic boat long before it became popular. Good for them! Their large converted-barn store has an assortment of their fresh organic produce, along with your typical«healthy» snacks(think flaxseed chips, dried fruits, lots of Annie’s products, et al), freshly butchered meats, flowers and plants, and even a small take-out section with soups, pre-made meat and pasta salads, and made — to — order sandwiches. Local, fresh, and organic. Simple. Good.

This is the sort of place you reach for as your first destination on your drive up to the Berkshires. Fresh organic produce, prepared organic foods(I love the beet salad!), homebaked pies, flowers for your table, locally made bread and cheese. If you are up at your country home for Thanksgiving you can preorder an organic turkey, too. Have been coming here for ages!

I will give high marks for having lots of grass-fed beef and organic meat options — fresh and frozen. The produce looked great(early Feb, didn’t expect a ton). Lots of local cheeses, Healthy snacks, baked goods, and bulk items were all in stock. Prices were what I expected, some items higher that I would have thought — but that could have also been because it is the dead of winter. I do have to mention a couple of things that we did NOT expect at a local, organic farm. We opted to have lunch here and ordered sandwiches from the list. I had an avocado, brie and turkey panini that was pretty much inedible from the amount of grease/butter it was griddled with(no panini marks), and the nearly half an inch of aioli mayo that was on the sandwich — it was seriously like a heart attack in a wrapper. I also had a coffee and was surprised to find little plastic containers of regular old Hood half and half. I would expect at a place that has so much local and organic dairy, there would be such an option for the coffee. I would rather pay .25 or .50 cents more for the coffee, and have organic half and half for my coffee. We will go back because this is the kind of place we like to support, and clean food is important. We probably will not partake in lunch or coffee though.
